Hi Guys - newly verified member -thanks RGAires been a member for years..
I recently got a data east royal rumble, when it arrived it had display issues - garbled display from power up. I played with the ribbons and 5v to the display board and it went away - don’t actually know what worked but I think it was a power connection issue.
Fast forward and I had to replace the Power board - old one was badly repaired at the GI connector.
I swapped the new one and - garbled display, it shows random sections of the screen and dots etc. the random bits are correct..
See the image..
So far I have:
Reseated and then swapped the ribbons
Checked the power to the graphics board - strong 5v
Tried a different 5v source to the graphics board
Re-soldered the v pins at the graphics board
Run a different power line to the graphics board
Checked the volts to the DMD - all ok. 5v,12v,110v,100v, 70v
Nothing has made any difference.
I am pretty sure this is a power issue - it worked perfectly yesterday and this morning right up to the power board change... but I can’t find the damned thing.
Anybody got any suggestions as to if another molex connector on the power board could cause this issue - or something else? Anything else?
Thanks a lot in advance
Mike
