I have one of those in the restoration queue, and fond memories of playing one "back in the day".

I picked up a pretty decent Royal Guard cabinet with playfield, missing the head. Was able to come up with a good backglass & usable empty head (thanks to a couple of awesome pinsiders!), but still need all of the mechanicals in the backbox.
Anyone have a parts RG?
Royal Guard was my first machine when I started collecting & still have it. Something about it that wants you to play just one more game!!
Quoted from DirtFlipper:What size flipper rings did you use?
They hook a little large, huh?
Jeff, I may have some I can being over today. Lmk.
The flipper ring are too big. The are currently 1 1/4. They should be 1 correct? I need to stock up on rings I'm out.

you are getting closer, i see....
I've seen the modified game, I believe at the TPF, where the backglass guards "snap" their legs along with the snap targets. Pretty cool! IIRC, this was the original design intent.

Yeah, the cold weather has slowed progress a bit. But it's still on the radar.

that sounds pretty cool... i think i need to spend a bit of time considering that mod, i'd like to do that...
the guy that bought mine, needed 2 more. Should talk to him. Its the guy that did the sailor Jerry games.

F----....that!
Issue isn't about his personality, it's about them mangling a great game for a re-theme to sell for stupid money to promote a brand. The games looked fanstastic, there's no argument there that the package they put together looked great. But if I'm not mistaken, at least one of the machines was a Palace Guard, of which there were only 625 in the first place.. so verily, I say...F--- THAT. This game is not roached. It doesn't need to be converted.
Go find a game with higher production numbers to convert, one that's roached, or better yet, do it right and just build a new game if you're going to ask that kind of money for it.

That's a Palace Guard....or was. And I'm pretty sure the price was substantially higher than 4200 when it was listed. >=\
I get that he's just doing his "job" which is a commission from SJ. It's not personal.
mine had that god awful homemade paint job on the cabinet, so it was perfect for what he was doing. I dont' think it was palace guard. it was some pool theme one, which was the other game he was looking for.
Royal guard is a really fun game. I liked it a lot. Only thing I didn't like is that it's only 1 player. If it would have been 4 player, I would have kept it.
And from his viewpoint. You would not be able to sell a royal guard for 3k anywhere else. So I can see his drive to want to do it. Still plenty of them to go around. He's only converting like 6 or 7 of them total. 4 are already done. it's really no different than the guys who are converting over Whoa Nellie's.

LOL, I remember that now..
I'd rather he convert ROYAL Guard than PALACE guard, but still...this specific machine? There's no reason to ruin this one. Unless you're saying the guy is offering 3k for a Royal Guard. I still wouldn't do it, but hey....I really like this game.
Quoted from Rat_Tomago:Do you have this type of fanfare set for the new owner?
No Sorry im lining that up for the previous owner once the new owner has possession.
Also i Like this pic i took.

granted it's a nice machine, but he usually pays asking price (if it's around going rate). So if your having a hard time moving it, he would be the guy to talk to.
Never played a palace guard.
^^^^^^^
Nice work!

Thank you Chris! Pinballrebel (aka Ken) is a real asset to the pinball community for hosting Inkochnito's pinball score card site. Both guys make this possible. Otherwise I would go nuts with faded / torn / beer saturated / missing score cards. It is fun printing them, cutting them and using an exacto knife, ruler and cutting board to cut out the centers. I did this for all 5 of my machines this weekend.
