Royal Flush EM - Flipper and gate buzz - How to stop this?

I'm working on a Royal Flush Em. Both the left and right flippers have a considerable amount of flipper buzz as does the gate when opening. Is there a way to
fix this? I already changed the coil stops on the flippers, tightened all bolts down. When the flipper energizes this rattling buzzing happens. The springs only
retract the plunger and work fine. I cleaned the plungers and the sleeves, still no change. Anyone have a good solution?

Check for proper adjustment of the EOS switches.

Do you have the correct stops installed?

By adjustments, do you mean that the contacts are touching together? Yes.

Yes. My old ones were fine. I installed new ones received from pinball resource. No difference.

If the switch OPENS when flipper is operated, you want the switch to just open slightly at end of stroke.

Also, on the flipper return springs there should be just enough tension to bring them back to resting position.

I'll check this again today. It think they open just so slightly. As for the spring tension, I tried to unlatch the spring 1 turn and the flippers didn't come back to
their seated position. So I know the spring is fine. I'll check on the end of stroke operation again.

also did you look at the end of the plungers, often i need to file the ends to flaten them.

and you can move the return spring mounting by 120 degrees, the next screw, you need not do a full turn.

as to the gate buzz, a piece of electrial tape between coil and plate helps. ive also done this on plunger ends as well but that is a real temporary hack

Is this your first EM? Sounds like everything mechanically is ok on the flippers to me so far unless the plungers ends are bashed up, if you put in new stops I would put in new plungers too if you haven't. Depends on what 'considerable buzzing' is, they are all going to buzz or hum a little bit especially these GTBs running on a/c power.

The eos switch gap should be 1/8 of an inch when the flipper is fully open. If it's too small, you can have problems.

ac hum is normal

you can convert over to DC

EM's all have a pretty substantial hum to their flippers, and other coils, since they're all AC driven. It's 100% normal, and there's nothing to worry about. The only way to truly eliminate the hum entirely would be to convert the flippers to DC, but then you'd change the characteristics of the game itself with overpowered flippers that have the potential to break targets from the bank.

If the hum is extraordinarily bad, like sounds like a blender crushing ice, then it's possible your EOS switch (or coil wiring) aren't letting the coils switch to the hold winding of the flippers. That's something that needs to be addressed.

Update: So, I changed the right coil spring return and the hum is considerably lower but still there. I think it's at a level where the hum is acceptable. Not sure
why the new spring return is making it sound better. Typically don't return springs get weaker and allow the plunger to pull into the coil better?

I'll change out the left spring return today and report back.
