A couple of years ago when I got into this hobby I found out that my wife actually had a pin when she was a kid. It took some searching to figure out what exactly it was and lo and behold, it was a Roy Clark cocktail pin. I thought it was long gone and I was highly unlikely to ever find another.
Well, as it turns out her actual machine turned up, having sat in a shipping trailer in her uncle's property for some two decades. We picked it up two weeks ago.
I figured it would be a LONG process to even get some kind of life back into this thing but after I replaced three of the fuse holders it turned on. The board didn't work right (big surprise there) but the GI looked good and it seemed like maybe it wouldn't be that long before I got it running, after all. So I started vacuuming, and scrubbing with Novus, and waxing...
Thankfully one of my good friends loves cocktail pins and actually had a good stock of boards for me to test to see where my game was. The working board from his Circa 1933 proved that a working board would make my Roy work, too. So I took his stash of problem boards and set off to get them ready to ship to Canada so I could get one working at some point. To my surprise, one of the boards that was missing all three 6530 ICs actually ended up working *perfectly* and it's been in my cabinet since. The rest all have issues so they'll go, along with my original board, to be repaired if possible. Then I can help my friend revive some of his dormant games in return for helping with mine.
I still have a few things to fix:
-Target A was broken (both plastic pieces) and will be replaced either from a donor cab or from 3D modelling another friend is attempting to do. The contacts are currently wired together so the bank can be completed until that's done
-Shooter lane cover is corroded and I'll either need to strip and repaint or replace with a donor part
-Missing one of the metal side covers, but I found a replacement. Both will go off, along with whatever other metal pieces I can tear out, for black powdercoat
-The player 2 display forces a leading 4 digit for some reason
Otherwise it's up and playing pretty well. Not bad for where it was when I started two weeks ago!
