I would try swapping the PIA U109 with the one in the switch matrix at U38. If the sound then works, your switches likely then will no longer respond, but at least you would prove that part has failed.

If there is no battery corrosion on the original MPU, I would send it out for repair and get rid of the Rottendog board.
