Hi Bill,
THANKS - sorry I obviously am new and left out history. The game was not working when I bought it. The guy told it worked and just stopped. I will check the connections you mentioned now after I look at the schematics.
First, I repaired the power supply. Needless to say the Caps were shot. Next, I tested the outputs and voltage and resistors using the guides posted online for the power supply - it made a BIG difference as the playfield lit up. All power is good all the way to the master display board and CPU. Sound also seemed to be working. I learned how to check +110V and - 110v and 5v at all the correct points.
It was evident the CPU was not working as the game would not boot and the displays would not light up when turned on - the playfield targets were all up. I received a lot of help on items to check but could not narrow it down.
So instead of repairing the CPU (about $250) - (I bought Rottendog for $279 plus $12.50 shipping) and possibly resoldering multiple connections - I went with Rottendog MPU327U - System 3-7 and one board.
Now the displays all light up - the ball will play - but only manually, pop bumpers score but don't pop - Side bumpers by flippers don't work and targets don't reset - it keeps score etc.
Seems like a bad connector on the CPU as you mentioned - I was hoping someone had similar issues and could narrow it down - I am a newbie and a good learner.
