Are you coming to Texas ?
It's not like what they say on tv.
Austin is a total blast.
And a ton of pins live here
Quoted from rotordave:When we were driving over the ranges we got in a snow storm. The weather has been strange indeed this last week.
Just a few more days to sunshine!
We got to Durango. Hotel doesn't have a laundry so we went out to find a laundromat.
Found one and what do we find in the corner?
But, typical of a location beater, I lock three balls in BK2000 and ...
They don't come out. Dooooh. I already had a replay up too.
Junkyard didn't register the dog kennel hits or ramp hits.
Shame. 30 minutes work on each machine would get them 100% and earning more money.

We went to Amarillo for a steak

You practice up Dave! My BK2K works just fine.

did you eat at that country-western place that is famous for steaks and has a funny sign out front you can stick your head in and take pix ?
ps. hopefully the winds weren't strong and blowing from the cattle fields. that can get a bit pungent in them thar parts

Yep! See earlier in the thread

Quoted from rotordave:I'm not "elite" of any kind and I park my hearse where I choose.
Take that "the Man!"image-772.jpg 178 KB
Conrad Hilton is rolling over in his grave. Paris herself would call security on her diamond encrusted iPhone and have your Hearse impounded. You need to stay 100 nights at Hilton propdrties to hit Diamond level. I've only hit platinum on Holiday Inn/Ihg but they don't offer special parking for that.

One thing I really don't like is this sort of "have and have not" two teir society that we've created.
The whole "VIP" thing is just crap. In an ideal world ...
- park wherever you want
- buy whatever seat you can at a concert cause they're all the same price
- sit wherever you want in a nightclub. No special area for wannabe dickheads.
- one line for all rides at amusement parks (except single rider to fill up the ride)
I could go on and on ... But I won't.

What? You're not a fan of the LE concept??
Quoted from MrBally:. Paris herself would call security on her diamond encrusted iPhone and have your Hearse impounded
Or she would be too coked up and not realize a car was in her spot and slam into it .
Quoted from OilGuy:We had a RotorDave sighting this morning Downtown Durango. Saw the hearse, pointed and waived, Dave honked hello. I was then barely able to get a picture before he was gone. The hearse was cool.

Classic!!
So, obviously ... This morning we were in DURANGO! On the south west edge of Colorado.
We had a sleep in this morning and hit the town about 11am. Cool old place.
Basically a railway town from the 1880s. Lots of historic buildings and tshirt stores.
You can take a narrow gauge railway trip up around the hills, but it takes all day.
We had a quick look around then headed off to Four Corners ... The corner of Utah, Arizona, Colorado, and New Mexico.
The local Indian tribe charges $5 a person entry to the "corner".
Then we headed to Tuba City to find a hotel.
After driving up the street, we decided to keep driving to Flagstaff! jezzzzzus!!
Almost every house was boarded up. Or burnt out.
However there was an ace looking police station and correctional facility.
And a great Sonic where we grabbed a hamburger and headed promptly out of town.

We will have a quick gander around here in the AM and then head off on Route 66 to Williams.
Lots to see on Route 66 on the final leg through Arizona and into California.
O-DIN HERE WE COME!
rd.
Quoted from rotordave:We had a quick look around then headed off to Four Corners
Another Breaking bad moment right there when Skylar visited Four Corners.
Keep those great pics coming!!
Went to the Four Corners as a kid in 1959 . All that was there was the Corner Stone in the middle of nowhere ! Looked like the background of the Hearse at the Welcome sign .
Hey David - even though I didn't make it on your photo show , it was a great pleasure to meet you, Fiona and Danielle during this week!
Sharing the pain, pinball can cause, was very helpful! Hope to see you and your familiy again... Europe, US, New Zealand, wherever
All the best
Frank
P.S. your hearse looks better from photo to photo... looking forward to see this pretty thing well packed in a container.

Cheers Frank!
We both had a "challenging" week of pinball comps. Me mainly in the weekend. You were going good there for a while!
What's frustrating is seeing the top 30 up on the board and thinking "I beat that guy the other day ... I beat that guy ... I thrashed that guy ... Beat that guy ..." Yet they are 30 places ahead of you on the board.
You can't beat experience ... Most of those dudes have 10-20 years playing at big competitions so we need to catch up fast!
rd.
Quoted from Caucasian2Step:Rare sighting of Caucasian2Step in full battle gear!

Lucky you were wearing those sexy shades when we were playing Playboy ... The glare from the downlight caused me two drains!
If only I had the foresight to have worn such an advanced headwear and eyewear combo ... Well, the weekend would have been looking good! Both cosmetically and in the rankings!
rd.
Quoted from Caucasian2Step:I think you were blinded by the titties...
Well, that could well be the case ....

Today we bailed out of Flagstaff, Arizona on Route 66 and headed to Williams, AZ.
Cool old railway town. They have embraced the Route 66 thing, so lots of Route 66 shops etc.
This is where you can catch a steam train up to the Grand Canyon.
Millions of acres of nothingness in Arizona. Just nothing. Lots of signs with "land for sale" on them ... Which would be handy if you wanted to farm rattlesnakes. I don't think you could do much else with it.
So anyways, after driving for a while we thought ... Hmmm ... Seen all this before ....hmmmm ... Bit boring now ....hmmmm .... What shall we do?
F**K IT LETS GO TO LAS VEGAS!
So we did. Cause that's how we roll.
We hit Highway 93 up out of Arizona to Vegas.
We drove over the Hoover Dam and went off the highway to check it out. I've always wanted to see it.
So we drove around to the security checkpoint and they flipped out at the sight of the hearse.
They wanted me to unload all the Pinballs and open them up to make sure they weren't packed with bombs.
Me saying "mate, I wouldn't go around buying $1000s of bucks worth of Pinball machines just to blow them up" didn't seem to impress them too much.
So we left. Or more like, we had to leave. No Hoover dam for RD this time around.
Up yours, the man!!
I'll pass on making comments about that ... Lest I upset someone.
rd.
So after that slight errrrr incident, we hit Vegas!
I've been to Vegas 3 times before but not for 10 years, boy there have been some changes!!
While we had the car we thought we'd go see Tim at the PHOF.
Tim wasn't around and in any case, I don't know him But hey, it sounded cool.
It wasn't as big as I thought it would be. There was a good crowd of 20-30 people around when we got there at 5pm which was awesome.
He has some cool machines there. There was a younger dude fixing a few machines while we were there.
We played Pinball Circus which seemed pretty darn cool. Left flipper didn't hold up which sort of destroyed the game, but it was cool to play it anyway. Spider-man suffered the same problem, I got two replays and the flipper died so I left it for some kids to play.
I played some SS machines and they all worked sweetly. Captain Fantastic and Evil Kinevel played mint.
Good on ya Tim!
PS you could spend a couple of bucks on the signage, it looks a bit "arse" ... But, I guess it works cause we found it ok
Quoted from Craig:Going to get a pic of the hearse in front of the PHOF? That would be a classic.
Ask and you shall receive
So, anyways ... After spending an average of $80-90 a night on hotels, I decided to play a trick on the Mrs and book a nice place for two nights.
All the way up it was "I got the comfort inn for only $30 a night!" ... "It gets real good write ups!" ... "$30 a night! And only 5 blocks off the strip!!"
So we pull up to the Vdara and she gets all happy. The small things in life are the best.
The Valet dudes said they'd never parked a hearse before. Enjoy!
That's awesome RD. Treat the ladies to a plush Vegas hotel after all the Route 66 Americana. Nice touch!

As I'm sure you well know, TFA, you need to treat the ladies right!
Plus ... The hotels in Vegas are pretty cheap on Tuesday and Weds ... But don't tell the Mrs
