    Quoted from rotordave:

Brett is a top guy and a skilled photographer. He made a sweet job on the video. He wanted to fly a drone around the room with a video camera on it, but he ran out of time ....

I could imagine me flying a drone in your games room, smashed glass and chipped cabinets

    Wow, what a great article.
I knew RD was a cool guy, I didn't know he was "Fonzie" cool.
Seasonally adjusted for New Zealand levels of course

Looking forward to the Kiwi Pincade announcement.

Flight of the Conchords are on the Simpsons tonight, how serendipitous...

Great article about an even greater pinball guy/family!
    Hopefully we meet again someday
    All the best!

That route 66 thread was one of the best travelogs I have ever read. RotoDave - you plan on coming to Expo this year? Thought I saw it mentioned in another thread a few weeks ago.

So Dave, yer a metal head eh? With an encyclopedic knowledge of the genre? A guy I grew up with was introduced to metal by my brother back in the 70s. He was hooked from the git go. We used to call him the Metal Almanac. He still runs a very comprehensive metal site if you want to test or increase your knowledge. I just heard from him a while back and your article reminded me.

Great article. I am jealous of the both the gameroom and the hearse. Did you ever see that old movie Harold and Maude? That guy's hearse ruled.

    #57 5 years ago

Rotor Dave! Why, I knew that guy was trouble when we met him! Oh, wait...it's a *good* article?!? I mean I knew I liked the guy when we met him!
Nice article, Dave! I'm glad to hear Fiona and Danielle are doing great too!

Way to go RD (and Danielle & Fiona)!

Are your machines organized in certain manner?
And I don't mean, "Yes, in two long rows".

Yes, I'll be there, with 7 other kiwis. Looking forward to showing them around the city and having an Als dipped sandwich!

Yes ... It's a little confusing because some of those photos (like the main one the paper used) were taken in November, and some two weeks ago. I changed the layout of the room in December. I turned the centre rows sideways to improve people flow.

They are organized into "clusters", if you like ...
    - all the System 11s run around the outside walls, starting from High Speed to the end. Yep, they are in order of manufacture. Lol.

    - all the Sterns are in a row, you can see me leaning on them in the video.

    Sterns

    - all the WPC games are the next 3 rows down

    WPCs

And all the 70s/80s games are down the back.

I found that by swapping the orientation of the room, I could fit in more machines. Originally, when I designed the house, the machines were all in long rows (as per the November pictures) and this layout would fit 100 machines, less whatever else I had in there. However, when i sketched up the new layout, I can get 100 machines PLUS the corner sofa and my Marshall stack in there. So there's a lesson for us all, don't be afraid to play with your layouts and try different things out. Sometimes you never know till you try it.

The funny thing is I'm not at all. But they need to go somewhere so they may as well go where they're supposed to.

    Pragmatism in action.

So now the TVNZ news guys wanted to visit! Jeeeezzzzus.

So Pinball was on the New Zealand national news last night, viewed by around 31% of New Zealand houses. Give or take. Seven Sharp is the 3rd most popular TV show in New Zealand. Heaps of feedback from people today ...

It is incredibly awesome that you guys love to do this together, as a family. I mostly get eye-rolls. You are truly living every pinhead's dream. Cheers.

    RD.... world famous in NZ

I liked "Fiona doesn't do interviews"

    #73 5 years ago

    Nice stuff Dave,

    Love the new layout

Also nice to see the "drive" has been paved.

My favorite thing is the "Fiona video" of her sitting on the sofa. Your pan down to the dogs with the camera is classic. The fact that they are just staring up at you while she is losing it in the background is priceless.

I had to save up for that one. It's only half done ... Still saving for the rest of it.

She has a tendency to do that ... Sometimes we will go to the movies, and something will set her off (usually something that nobody else thinks is funny..) and away she goes. Everyone turns around and stares to see who the crazy person is. So embarrassing lol
