Check the switch gap behind the target, sounds like it's staying closed and should be open. You can run a switch check as well, red button on coin door, can't remember which number it is but start at 16 and go to 20. If the switch is stuck it will come up with it's switch number. Do you have the manual? Manual will tell you were the switch in question is on the playfield.
