I remember reading a thread where people recommended someone to get ROMs from. I cannot find (yes I searched), this man. I want to get all new roms for cp, cpu, sound and dmd. Marco has them for 10-14 each...which is a little nuts, but that pinball place as the set for only $39.

hobbyroms.com is great. I think they're 10 a piece but give bulk discounts.

    #3 6 years ago

http://pinballroms.com/ is the standard around here

^^ this is what you are looking for

I'd deal with John Wart right here on Pinside and rgp. He's been doing it for 20 years - made a lot of people happy.

Just bought from John. Recommended. Good product. Reasonable turnaround time.

Does John run a website? or is that his linked above? That is who I was referring to I think, when I read that thread.

    #8 6 years ago

You're correct, they are one and the same.

    My website is..

http://www.thatpinballplace.com - but pinballroms.com is aliased to it, so either will work.

Sorry, it's a bit prehistoric. I need to hire a developer at some point to help me make it a bit more modern.

If you have questions, feel free to drop me a PM here, or e-mail me - sales @ thatpinballplace . com

    How about just the chips?

You can order chips from digi-key, greatplains etc. I was going to order a Gq 4x, but at $120+ this was a cheaper option until I have the time to mess with the burner.

OK, just wondering. Loving my GQ 4X, takes the guessing out of if a ROM is good or not.

Got mine for $120 with an easy bake over eraser on ebay as a package deal.

Agree. GREAT product for burning pinball and arcade roms.

A chip programmer, for the most part, is a chip programmer You're programming devices that are pretty much obsolete in most cases for pins.

For the average enthusiast who wants their own programmer, there's no need for anything super fancy.

It's not rocket science, once you get the hang of it.

Got the chips from John! Actually I got them while I was out on vacation. Any who, they were nicely labeled, packaged and worked great. Actually fixed some issues my CP was having. Thank you again John

John all the way. He just did a custom load for me for TMNT. Thanks John. I see it shipped and looking forward to the install!

I have the same programmer. I had it for a while now it has paid for itself very easy to use.
