    If software can't be changed, you could always look for a hardware solution. Some kind of counter circuit that reduces the spinner switch output by some factor.

    Too bad changing the software to your liking is so hard to too. It's a waste that all that course code is probably somewhere rotting away, but everything is still being protected/under license and stuff, even if the machine is 20-30 years old by now.
