I have had this game for a year or less, never an issue, set to freeplay and keeps high scores.

I hadn't turned it on for a couple of weeks until the other day. Booted up to adjustment failure on the screen and wouldn't coin up. After goofing around in the menu of test mode I got it back to freeplay and played some games. Tueprn it off and back onand back to adj. failure.

Is this likely something simple like time to change the battery ( if there is one)? Anyone else have this happen?

Well i pulled the batteries and they tested good at 1.57 volts. New ones test at 1.60.

Changed then anyway, still have the problem. Guess I will reseat some connectors and see what happens.

Oh and the red led on what I would describe as the main board "diagnostics led" is flashing.

I don't really want to pull this board out, but a reflow of solder could be the next step huh?

thanks, I think I accidentally did that. I went into the test buttons and got it back to freeplay, along the way it said something about factory, or factory reset.

Anyway, the old batteries were good, the new batteries are good. It's back to normal.

thanks for the insight everyone.

yeah it's back to it's tricks again. I need to go into test mode or whatever each time.

time to pull that board and do some resolder work. there seem to be 100 molex connectors to it, I do not look forward to this one.

I will look into the nvram upgrade, sounds like the right way to go.

Quoted from robertmee:

Based on losing memory, the only reflow you would need to do is on the battery pack connections. But while you have the board out, go ahead and install the nvram or external pack. Molex connectors aren't going to cause your symptoms. Loss of battery or bad RAM would be the only culprits.

Yeah I meant, disconnecting the 100 molex to that board seems like a pain in the a$$.

I guess I should order the nvram and do it all in one shot. thanks guys
