I bought a not-working Roller Disco a couple of years ago, and I'm finally making time to getting it going. I had no intentions of posting progress; but there are some things that others may find interesting.

I continue to be amazed at the job of my vibrating tumbler. I disassembled the left two flippers, cleaned and put in the tumbler for about 20 hours. I would not have guessed that these 40 year old parts would come out shiny at all - let alone THIS shiny.

I bought a 4x8 sheet of PETG, knowing that a playfield protector would not be available for Roller Disco. I don't really want to do touch ups to the playfield - but I want prevent further damage. So I made my own playfield protector. Also, the playfield has some cupping; the protector will smooth out those areas.

I am surprised how well it came out.

I first cut holes for the playfield components I didn't want to remove: pop bumpers, sling contacts and actuator arm, etc. With those cutouts I could lay the protector flat. I then traced the areas to cut out - ensuring the posts could hold the protector in place, and ensuring that I wouldn't have to remove the hammered in rails (if I want to remove it).

Roller Disco is back together and playing perfectly. The playfield protector is almost flawless. The ball WILL get stuck on a lip if the ball is moving very slowly. It's the same as other playfield overlays I've played on. I've played dozens of games, and had the ball get stuck only once. The ball occasionally is effected as it passes over the rollovers. But it is MUCH better than the 10 cupped bonus value inserts.

One thing I've noticed is, drop catches work really well.
