It depends what you want the end result to be.

If you want to do it cheaply, and the results “ok”, then sure, roll it or use rattle cans.

If you want to to be really nice, get it sprayed in 2k paint.

Either way, prep is king. Fill every hole and grain line. Sand it a lot. Fill again. Sand it a lot more.

Here’s one of my 2k cabinets for reference.

    Quoted from Pinbub:

Damn RD, if I had just ONE that looked that nice, I'd never care if I ever had one painted again! That thing is beautiful!

    Cheers!

I’ve come to the conclusion that if I’m gonna spend the time (and money) to do a full restoration, I may as well spend a couple more hours and do it 100%.

I pay an auto painter $250 USD to paint the cabinets in the base colour. I don’t have a spray booth, he does, he’s a professional painter, I’m not - so that works out pretty cheap.

I do everything else. All the woodwork repairs, all the prep, all the stencil work. And of course all the pinball stuff.

Here’s a couple of pictures of the cabinets with the 2k paint.
