No question. Rogue One was MILES better than Force Awakens. That's how a prequel is done.

    Quoted from investingdad:

Were Tarkin and Lea really CGI? I wasn't sure if it was prosthetics on similar looking actors or CGI. Mon Motha looked like a flesh and blood actress.

I walked out after and people were amazed at seeing those characters (Tarkin and Leia) and I said it had to be CGI. Leia looked less real than Tarkin.

    Quoted from dmbjunky:

Leia and Tarkin were CGI. You can tell by the eyes. I'm sure they used actors for the movements and manipulated the face with CGI. I thought it looked terrible and unnecessary.
I really didn't like Vader's pun. I was rolling my eyes at the cheesiness.
The reason I liked TFA more was it was more fun. It captured the spirit of the originals. It's a shame the story was such a rehash. That said I'm probably going to see Rogue One again which I have no interest in doing with TFA.

Well that's your answer. I don't have much interest in seeing TFA again but will prob buy Rogue One

    Quoted from kvan99:

In the immortal words of George Kennedy..."You know nothing".
Not my words: No link sorry, the website it was posted is down.
"I don’t want to spoil the plot of “The Force Awakens,” but if you’ve seen “A New Hope,” that job’s already been done for you. Mild spoilers ahead. Ahem:
Cute little danger-magnet robot rolling around everywhere with the Key To The Plot housed in its cute little memory banks? Check.
Daring escape from a desolate desert planet in a hella fast spaceship that everybody thinks is a hunk of junk? Check.
Menacing dude with a red lightsaber and hella force powers and a scary-looking mask that gives him a robot voice? Jesus, yes.
Scuzzy space-bar populated by a menagerie of funny-looking aliens? Seriously?
A squadron of rebellious X-wings getting picked off one by one by TIE fighters while attempting to blow up a planet-sized weapon that is coming ever closer to destroying the verdant planet that houses their base of operations? Fucking seriously?
A young hero watching helplessly as a cherished mentor dies in front of them at the hands of the menacing black-clad dude? I AM NOT EVEN TRYING, HERE, YOU GUYS."

Better be careful before pinside's curmudgeon, CrazyLevi, jumps down your throat for daring to nitpick that amazing movie.

    Quoted from Rascal_H:

Didn't the Death Star get blown up basically the same way twice? Why would they build the same flaw in their planet killer a second time?
    #ForceFlowLovesJarJar

No man, the rebel fighters had to deal with the turret defense of the operational Death Star as well as the Tie Fighters. Luke had to hit an incredible shot using the Force to destroy the first Death Star.

The second Death Star was maybe half built. Hell, the Alliance was shocked to see it operational as it fired and destroyed an Alliance ship. The Falcon and a few escorts flew INTO the Death Star and took out the reactor with a direct hit.

Force Awakens had yet again another large scale destructive device built by the bad guys that got taken out. Man 0/3 by the guys in black.

Has anyone any recollection of Star Wars Christmas special?
I'd love to see that one.

Everyone should join and download the Christmas Special. Life Day with riffing!

    Quoted from paynemic:

I like both of the new movies. A lot. I liked the prequels too. Admittedly I'm a fanboy for sure.
But it's my belief that for all the hate the the modern Star Wars movies get, it's not Star Wars that has changed, you have. The originals were probably as crappy then as you make the new ones out to be now. Script, acting, etc. You've just grown out of the wonder if you don't like the new ones. It's still there. Just my opinion.

Maybe you have a point. For a long time I would pick either episode 4, 5, or 6 and fall asleep as they played. That trilogy still holds up for me. They just did more with less. I don't think I've rewatched any of the prequels unless they were getting riffed on by Mike, Bill and Kevin (www.rifftrax.com).

Jesus Christ man we get it. You hate the prequels. Ok. Enough. This thread isn't Rogue One vs Force Awakens and what's your daily opinion on the prequels.
