This locks up my computer where I am. But it looks like it is trying to run an MP4. Can someone post a download link for the MP4?

I did some more searching. Do any of these work for you?

Well done sir! I thought you were going to burp up screwdriver when you ripped that burp!

I am in a building with many things blocked and limited software installs. No flash or anything that might compromise a setup. Thanks, I'm sure I'll get it eventually or when I am elsewhere.

Drunk History is one of my wife's and my favorite shows. Derek Waters is awesome, and you, KoolMoeCraig did a great job! Great to see the show do a pinball related segment. Cheers!

#55 8 years ago

Really awesome episode and segment! I hope that gaff tape came off your Getaway cabinet cleanly

What was the other game next to it?

#57 8 years ago

Breakshot, apparently. KoolMoeCraig (the drunkard) posted earlier about it.

Here's the full episode from Comedy Central's website:

http://www.cc.com/full-episodes/4vpgrn/drunk-history-games-season-3-ep-309

Requires a cable subscription login, which is an effective tool against piracy. For sure.

This was hilarious! Good job KoolMoeCraig.

Cripes...Dish Network isn't listed on their list of providers?

Drat.

Guess I'll have to set the DVR and hope for a repeat...

That's what I did. It's replaying on Monday.

Ok, I watched the entire episode on my lunch break. The pinball one was very good and Craig did a good job. That said, the Bobby Fischer one had me rolling.

#63 8 years ago

Just watched it and it was amazing. I loved it, thanks so much.

#64 8 years ago

That was hilarious. Thanks for posting the link for us Canadians who aren't permitted to view Comedy Central clips.

Even if you have your parent watch it with you There are just so many places to go with that comment

I'll just ask the simple question - Why?

#66 8 years ago

Just watched it, I need a drink. Funny stuff there.

Media conglomerates and licensing.

Geo blocking. We're directed to Comedy Network (the Canadian version of CC) if we try to go to Comedy Central. Although up here a lot of CC programming is on Much Music. This is one of them. Their website might have it.

I am surprized no one has called out (the Producers of Drunk History) yet
on the games used in the re-enactments for the NYC council meeting
as they were completely wrong;
at least as far as the long shot views of the side of cabinets.
The game used for showing Roger playing "El Dorado" was actually a pitch and bat game,
and when they switched the pins for the "Bank Shot" pin
and the calling his shot sequence,
the cabinet they rolled in was for BLY Flip Flip.
At least when they cut away to the playfield shots
they were using the correct pins named and involved.

Enjoyed the episode none the less.

#70 8 years ago

I too am glad Roger was not "regulated to the anals of history"! My favorite part.

#71 8 years ago

That was one of the best retching sounds I've ever heard on the show. Was it pre or post vomit? Maybe somewhere in between?

#72 8 years ago

Great job KoolMoeCraig, I was hoping it was someone on here!

#73 8 years ago

I saw this last night. Great job. hilarious. I wonder if they contacted roger at all to let him know they were going to portray him on the show.

Roger was also featured in mysteries at the museum.

I really want to get this shot printed off as an 8x10 glossy and have Roger Sharpe sign it.

99.9% of the people watching the show will not know the difference. Why go to the trouble of trying to find those games if your audience doesn't really care?

Right. It's television. They make do with what they can get on short notice and a limited budget.

I know what those games are and I didn't care. It was a great segment.

#78 8 years ago

First and last time I'll watch that show...

#79 8 years ago

I've only seen the preview version so someone can correct me if I'm wrong and they included this info later in the segment, but the reason "pinball" (quotes explained in a sec) was largely banned in many cities throughout the US was because 1) It was designed and built for gambling, and 2) the mob had a heavy hand in it.

For about the first 15 years of pinball’s existence, the games didn’t have flippers. All you could do was plunge, nudge and pray, and payouts were the norm. Players could rack up credits on a machine (games back then could rack up 10 – 100 credits or more in a single game) and then “redeem” them at the bar for nickels. A special "knock-off" or "knock-down" switch wiped the credits from the game for the next sucker.

In 1947, flippers were added to pinball and for the next nearly thirty years or so, pinball split into two factions: “skill games” (with flippers) and “gambling games”, which were Bingo games with no flippers. From 1950 to 1960, the vast majority of Bally’s production was Bingo machines, a flipper-less pinball-like game used for gambling, and they continued to produce them into the 1970s.

Check their production history here: http://ipdb.org/search.pl?mfgid=412&yr=1950-1960&sortby=name&searchtype=advanced

Cities and towns often didn’t split hairs over which was which, they simply banned them all, however, in my city of Oakland, the laws were tailored to ban Bingos but not pinball machines. I explained the difference here: http://pinballbayarea.com/2010/12/05/for-amusement-only-strange-pinball-laws-on-the-books-in-oakland/

Pinball-as-gambling was insanely lucrative and naturally the mafia wanted to control and have a piece of the action. Banning pinball was not just a way to "get rid of a moral scourge" but a way to hit the mob square in the pocketbook.

Here's a vid about Bally in the early days:

http://vimeo.com/19585210

edit: not trying to be a killjoy here. The vid is great and well-produced.

Ok, that episode was goddamn funny. Love it.

#81 8 years ago
Quoted from Gov:

I know the difference,
and I may be the only one who cares,
but really,
they could not find a 2nd EM pinball, as opposed to using a pitch & bat?
With no flipper buttons on the side, but big fat buttons on the lock down bar,
I guess if you are drunk, it probably makes sense.
That is what can be expected from TV production
that still insists on any pinball machine depicted on TV as having
bell and chime sounds, even modern DMD pins.

Despite all that i still enjoyed the segment.

#82 8 years ago

They filmed some drunk history episodes here in Cleveland but weren't able to squeeze in our space as a set for this season's episodes. I would have loved to help recreate this story. Maybe next year they'll get a chance to film some debauchery here.

No arguments there

I'm hoping there's an asterisk somewhere that says "No Rock-Ola Worlds Series were harmed in the making of this film"

You obviously have never played a Capcom Breakshot. Those are the actual sounds it makes. It's a purposeful throwback machine, yes with a DMD. Those aren't added sounds, they are live right off the machine.

Quoted from KoolMoeCraig:

Actually, I am the drunk.
I haven't seen it yet so I have no idea how badly I butcher the story. I was seriously inebriated. You can see some shots of my Getaway and Breakshot in the episode, assuming they got the rights to show them.
Enjoy!

Bravo Sir - you play a convincing drunk!

Any river enthusiasts here to complain that it wasn't the real Hudson River?

#90 8 years ago

Yeah, although I love anything pinball related, sitting through those segments was like watching 2 retarded kids fighting under a blanket.

#91 8 years ago
Quoted from KoolMoeCraig:

That and Data East's Time Machine, in certain modes, (though not a DMD)

But in general most anytime you hear pinball machine sounds on TV,
it is archived canned EM pin sounds
even when the game being played or shown
is a modern solid state or DMD.

Sorry I have peeved so many
with my notice of the insertion of a pitch&bat
for pinball machine on the segment.
The wigs and 'staches from the prop dept were great though.

#92 8 years ago

The Pops on Wheel Of Fortune make chime sounds.

The purpose of Drunk History is not accuracy, it's comedy. I wouldn't be suprised if they put a pitch and bat in there on purpose. If you want accuracy go watch a documentary, there are a few on Roger Sharpe.

No way. I got a question correct at bar trivia because of an episode I watched a week earlier. The Patty Hearst episode to be exact. Funny and educational!

This is my favorite Drunk History skit from back when it was a web series.

#96 8 years ago

My favorite skit was the one with Weird Al as Hitler. Too funny!

Later,
EV

P.S. For those that love Drunk History, go check out Marvel's Ant Man once it comes out on DVD. There are two segments with Michael Pena's character that are totally DH-style...

As of 6:43 pm on 10/8/2015 this one works, I just checked.

you left out the part...when they decided to throw all the pins in the river, they had mercury levelers at that time and tainted the river supply.
