Hey all, I am beginning my search for generous folks who will help us put on some sweet tournaments at the Rocky Mountain pinball showdown this year. We are in search of 2 EM machines, 2-3 solid state, and 6-8 DMD games. Please reply or PM me if you can help us out. We are a circuit event this year and want to make it a great experience for everyone. Thanks so much and cant wait to see you guys there

    Quoted from InfiniteLives:

Why isn't Ryan running it again? He ran a successful tournament last year which the community liked way better than previous versions of the RMPS.

I agree he was awesome, but he is running comet now and will have a booth and some other stuff to do.

I was definitely under the impression that he was asked but if not I will see if we can meet up and I can pick his brain. We are going to use the same software that was used last year and as we finalize the format I will let everyone know asap. I am very open to listening to the community on what you guys want. I just want it to be great for everyone

    Quoted from Russell:

Bwheels...have you ever played in a pinball tournament? Don't see you on ifpa...?
I'm genuinely not trying to be rude or disrespectful. It just struck me as odd.
I am happy to help however I can.

I have not played in any ifpa tournaments, however i do have some knowledge of how to run tournaments. Again I am more that happy to take any advice and criticisms and make this year great. I am already loving the conversations on the format of the tournament and hope to have the formats and such worked out here shortly. thanks

    Quoted from Baiter:

After taking about 4 years off from major tournaments due to dissatisfaction of unlimited Herb qualifier tournaments, Ryan's implementation of the limited Herb format is THE reason I participated in last year's RMPS tournaments. It is highly successful at TPF and proved to work very well last year. If it goes back to an unlimited qualifier format there's a high probability I will not participate. Unless restrictions are used, it is the most uneven and unfair qualifying system in any sport or skill tournament I am aware of.

Yes, this is another great thing Ryan did last year, got a lot of locals to look at the tournaments more favorably than years past.

Thanks this is all such great feedback and I appreciate it!

    Quoted from SnowGalvin:

Hi Brandon. Last year's tournament was well run and well received by the dedicated competitive tournament players in Colorado and from chatting with other high level players at the Texas Pinball Festival and now at OKC's Silverball Showdown, there are quite a few people traveling in for the RMPS tournament this year. So with that in mind, I would strongly recommend that you keep the format Ryan implemented last year and absolutely payout 100% of entries.
I would also recommend coming to our local IFPA sanctioned tournaments 1st Sundays 1up LoDo, 3rd Sundays 1up Colfax, 1st Wednesdays Press Play Boulder (meet Ryan!) and Lyons Spring Classic May 26-28 (a former long running PAPA Circuit event). It would be highly beneficial for you to meet the players that will be in the RMPS because you will need our help. Just as Ryan did. As we all know Ryan well, it was easy for him to acquire reliable tournament games, backup games for the inevitable catastrophic malfunction, an army of score keepers, technicians and seasoned TDs to lean on for rulings and procedures. This help was not sought on Pinside but within the community, at the arcades where we regularly meet to play.
We are a close knit group and any resistance or apprehension you may be experiencing is because we don't know you. With only 42 days remaining, now is the time to make friends. We are opinionated and competitive but I got involved not all that long ago and CO players welcomed me into the fold, showed me the ropes and have become good friends. We're a warm bunch of people. I think you'll like us once you get to know us.

Perfect. I will see you at those events for sure. I have met many of you, but you may just not remember the face or name. I have met Ryan as well. I will see you at the 1st Sunday and look forward to better knowing you all.

    Quoted from SnowGalvin:

This should probably be posted on the CO Pinball Tournament group on Facebook. Much larger audience, plus 3 of the more vocal (read: caring) people in this thread are either from Ft Collins or CO Springs. I've just added you to the FB group.
I'll be out of town Sunday but I'll be at 1up Colfax Monday around 6. I meet up with a group of tournament players there every Monday.

I'll come down monday as well to meet you guys. thanks and i posted in the tournament group that if anyone want to have a conversation or meet me i am more than welcome.
    Thanks

Hey all I should have a little info dump in a bit on the details of the tournament. I will say that I don't want to change any of the stuff Ryan did. He was awesome and I am wanting to pay out all the money back to the players. Thanks and More to come soon.

Below is a link to sign up and help score keep at the tournament. Volunteering for a shift will earn you an extra hour of qualifying before and after open qualifying. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Quoted from InfiniteLives:

Can you elaborate on what the "side tournament" is on the IFPA calendar?
I see there is a Main, Classics, EM and Womens which I get, just curious what the "side" is. The description reads as another EM tourney.
Also, Thanks for the game list!

No problem. I believe that refers to all the smaller tournaments that will be held on the show floor. Split flipper, parent and child, etc.

    Quoted from jar155:

Brandon, you did a great job running things. There were a few times when the room was packed, but it seemed like everything stayed in control. The games played great and the competition was good. Nice job, man.

Thanks Jeff, that means a lot. The whole tournament community was amazing and supportive.
