Rocky & Bullwinkle was working fine, but then it’s like it faded out. First it would start up playing “it’s- It’s- It’s”. Which is the first part of what the t normally says when it starts, but now, the game won’t start at all, and the display won’t come on.

I’m not very familiar with this version of the boardset having worked with mostly older Williams, and Bally games. We did try swapping out the power board with working power board from another game of the same era (Hook) to no avail.

Seems like the two right-most leds are lit on the mpu. I am unsure what to tell this guy- is there an aftermarket replacement MPU like on the earlier games? I don’t want to be diagnosing this forever- I’d be willing just to tell the guy to buy the board and be done with it. Thanks guys.

If you have a meter check your voltages 5vdc 12vdc on the power supply. Check fuses reseat the power connectors on cpu board cn17. And power supply itself.

I believe the Rottendog MPU should work fine with Rocky and Bullwinkle. If you don't have any acid damage, then definitely check your 5V on the board. I'd also reseat the CPU and EPROMS. Also, most Rocky and Bullwinkle ROM revisions bypass the checksum check, so if you get bit rot then you won't get an error code, just random failures. I you have a ROM burner then I'd verify the ROMS or just burn new ones.

Sorry i fid not read the whole post. I had the same issue on The Simpsons mid and right led on stuck

No acid damage at all untill i looked closer at the 6802. It had leakage on several legs and on the socket.

I know for sure it had a rottendog pier suppy - and this guy also has a Hook, and that game had problems with the 12 volt regulated ps, which led to various sound, and other problems. He was wondering if we should make the 12 volt unregulated switch on R&B too, but I figured unless someone had specifically called That out as a problem, we should leave it as-is and the problem probably lies elsewhere. That game had sound problems which were seen in other people’s Hook, so that’s why we made the jump from 12 v regulated to unregulated.

After the other replies it definitely seems like there are other places to look.

Can anyone point me to someone who would do Mainboard repair for R & B instead of having to out and out buy a new one?

ChrisHibler will be happy to repair it for you and install NVRAM. Definitely much cheaper to have the board repair vs. a new board.
