Re the machine not starting, do you at least get the startup bongs?
Re swapping displays, sure, you could do a swap with anything that uses a standard panel (which all of your examples do, I believe). But it's worth checking the power supply inputs to the panel first - no point messing about with panel swapping if you don't have the right voltages to drive it.
