So I sit here in the man-cave, with Led Zeppelin’s No Quarter playing and I think to myself that it’s over, this brilliant age of music has finally left us with some glorious music and some tribute pins…
Am I wrong?

Been reborn.

It’s never going to be the same, but there is a lot of good music out there. You just have to look. All the new music I listen to these days are from pretty small bands.

I think the days of the "lifetime" bands may be gone, the band's that have lasted 4 or 5 decades.
I still mostly listen to rock and metal from the 70s and 80s, Van Halen, KISS, Judas Priest, King Diamond, Anthrax.

Another pinsider in Belleville? Nice!

Kids will start listening to rock to rebel against their hip - hop parents .

Quoted from midniight:

Wasn't hip hop like 30 years ago? I think those kids are parents themselves by now.

Regardless I hope u r right.

I like your taste in music! Rock is still alive and well but it doesn’t sound the same as it did in the seventies and eighties, where most of the bands I see you listen to are from. Rock will keep changing to suit the tastes of the young, rock bands from the fifties and sixties sounded different from the seventies and eighties, and rock bands from the nineties and 2000’s sound different. Most of the people our age (I’m guessing your around my age based on the bands you like) don’t want to listen to ‘kids’ singing about what is relevant to them today, but there are good young rock bands out there. Most bands where the age of the members are in their sixties and seventies aren’t releasing new records very often, and quite frankly they really shouldn't be (with a few exceptions, Ozzy obviously made a deal with the devil).

Also, that’s a kick ass bar!

Rock isn’t dead or dying, it’s just off the radar of radio, MTV (is that even a thing anymore?), and the wider pop culture and you need to look harder to find it! Spend a couple of hours with the AI/“genius” functions of your favorite streaming service and you’ll find plenty of new stuff to discover.

Rock has simply gone back to the “underground” from where it came, which is actually a great thing!

Rock is dead? Hip hop was 30 years ago? Man, you should pull your head out.
I'd recommend listening to a high school radio show, I think you'd be surprised at the range of styles and era's these kids listen to, they are exposed to everything and seem to be able to pick up on a lot of the nuance in the music. Imagine having every type music available at the touch of a button when you were developing your musical tastes like these kids have, it's very different than when we grew up. I think it's cool, looking forward to what the next generation does with music.
