Quoted from cottonm4:

There is a small piece of double back tape on each side of the plastic. You can see the tape on both sides. However, there is another pice of dbl back tape on the bottom of the lens. You can barely see it if you squint. The ones on the sides can be had with a razor knife. One of the tapes on my red lens has let go after 40 years so I gave the lens a little pull and the other side came loose. But that piece in the bottom is holding tight. There is a risk of damaging the back glass so I stopped at this point.
It sounds like your original glass is roached and all you have to worry about is getting the plastic in one piece. I don't think you will have any problem.
[quoted image]

So mine doesn't want to play so nice. Appears to be glued on tight. I think the glue shifted when stored and took some graphics with it. I'm hoping someone may still want this glass for a fair price. But maybe not. It's a decent backglass otherwise... if you don't look too close. If not, maybe I can apply some heat and lift those red/blue plastics off. Not in any rush to try that though. Will have to think it over.

I hear you with the Taurus search! I had been looking too and saw some of those on Ebay. Thanks for the tip on that smaller one. I might grab it.

Nice!! Looks awesome. Love the toxic waste! The original plastic definitely didn't do it justice on its own.

Quoted from cottonm4:

Yours looks fine. It was going to block my Robocop car and no way I could make it look right so the legs had to come off.
[quoted image]

This is the ED I'm hoping to add. I'm going to try and sneak the wires under his arms, maybe with an extension piece, and keep the current gun lights. You may notice I'm also experimenting with other bumper caps, but these have too much overhang so I have to raise them. But that would also give me some real estate on the rim of the caps for other graphics possibly.

Set option 18 in adjustments to "on". This expands the list of adjustments and the free play option is in that expanded list.

I made a set of stadium lights for Robocop yesterday. They light the play field up and make it look nice and bright. It is brighter in person than I can display with my iPhone pictures.

Regrets? Yes. I wish I would have done this a long time ago.

No stadium lighting

IMG_9394 (resized).jpgIMG_9394 (resized).jpg

With blue lighting

IMG_9395 (resized).jpgIMG_9395 (resized).jpg

With white lighting.

This guy shows you how to make your own. Unfortunately, he does not give a list of all the parts you have to buy. It took me about an hour to shop Amazon and work up all the parts I needed. in the end, you can light up two pinballs for about $70.00 each.

One more issue I have with Robocop is how the ball gets locked in a back-and-forth bounce action between the upper left rubber ring and the upper left pop bumper. Foe me, it is as annoying as the air balls.

I found a solution. I put a tie wrap on the rubber ring. Now I may get 4 or 5 bounces between the ring and the pop bumper and then the ball get back on the play field for more play.

If I decide this is not working out it will be easy to go back the way it was. So far, for a few games, I am satisfied with the results.

I'm going to try and find that Ed somewhere. It looks great.
I'm trying to replace my backglass. Huge hole in the middle. Anyone know where I can find a replacement? Translite or otherwise?

Hi all.

I am pretty sure I saw a post on here about Robocop resetting itself during gameplay but I can't seem to find it..

Can someone direct me there or let me know what the outcome of the thread was.

Thanks.

Resetting itself is almost always related to the 5V circuit.

So could it be as simple as re-seating connectors?

Check the 12 pin connector on the right side of the power board, common for pins to be burned up.

plugging/unplugging a few times (while off of course) may verify the problem but repinning will be the permanent fix.

Anyone know of cool apron cards for Robocop? I'm hoping to find something shiny and metallic.

Mr. Tantrum made me these nice apron cards.

There is also some other pinsider that makes metal apron cards. But I cannot recall who.

I am having an issue where after we make the ramp jump, and the ball rolls down the flap, it doesn’t always make it to the lock hole. Shoupd I bend the flap more up or down? Any thoughts

Mine does this only once in a while but feel it’s a slower ball, have mine set up steep. Maybe try the pitch first?
Not sure you can bend the flap easily.

You need a new flap. A strong flap helps kick the ball up towards the hole. A weak flap does not have enough strength to give the ball the push it needs.

You can try bending it UP to make it stronger but chances are that if you take a look at it you will find cracks in the metal where it screws into its mounting point.

This is my post from when this flap was talked about two years ago. About 6 weeks ago, I started having problems with the ball not kicking into the saucer. As talked in my post, I used some polycarbonate to make a replacement flap. The plastic flap started failing in the same area at the the screw holes. My immediate solution was to add a 1/2 length of plastic under the under the plastic flap to strengthen it. So far, all is well.

Here are 2 pictures of my metal flap.

Laying on the table it looks fine.

But if you look at it from a different angle you can see the crack that developed at the base by the screw holes.

b137bd55caaf804737a499864e5eba60578cfeb2 (resized).jpgb137bd55caaf804737a499864e5eba60578cfeb2 (resized).jpg

That piece of foam is hiding the possible problem area from view. You need to take some things apart so you can see if you have any cracks in the metal. You may be able to press on the flap and "feel" if anything is wrong, but I'm thinking you are going to have to remove the ramp, do some disassembly to have a closer look.

The flap is designed to kick the ball into that saucer. If the ball is not getting kicked into the saucer I don't know what else your problem could be.

The ramp is not hard to remove as it is attached with only 3 screws but the wire harness is a PIA unless you add a Molex connector as I did. If you don't want to add a Molex you will have to lift the play field and disconnect the factory plug in.

Here is another try with the link. Post #635

I checked the flap again and it is solid around the screws. I had thought it was fine bc I did have the ramp out last year as well.
As you said the flap is responsible for getting the ball to the lock, so either I need to tweak the flap more, adjust the machine pitch, or maybe move the foam to allow for a smoother roll down.

Thanks for providing all that information.

#1637 1 year ago
Quoted from topkat:

Try replacing the foam. From the picture, it looks shot. If the foam isn't slowing the ball down properly, the ball will spin a little too vigorously and won't sit in the saucer.

My foam looks to be in good shape, strangely yesterday in a mini comp here it wasn’t making it to the hole more than normal for some strange reason.
It’s contagious lol

I see a small crack in your ramp. On the right side. You might want to think about drilling a stop-hole at the end of the crack to keep it from getting worse.

Has anyone ever thought of making a police strobe light topper?

Perhaps have the topper lights tap into the backglass flasher circuit?

Is there a way to get the high scores to save indefinitely or for a much larger number of plays? The highest setting seems to be like 700 games before they reset? Seems incredibly low.

I thought about it but as it already has the blue and red lights on the backglass I bought a gun and a strip of LED’s that are tied into the target practice insert.
It’s loaded so can just grab it and shoot people if they beat me, only plastic balls but still fun!

Police strobe would be good though.

Just joined the club! It needs some adjusting but I’m really excited to find one.

When you power up the game the laser kick and flashers lock on for about 3 seconds. I was told that it’s normal for this game but that sounds kinda crazy to me.

Can anyone confirm this is normal behavior?

Make sure you change out all the flashers to leds asap if it hasn’t been done. Burnt inserts because flashers get locked on are a real problem with this game.
