I think discussion is healthy but if you know of a few people that like to target you maybe a option of ignore that persons posts when you start a thread so if they try to post in a thread it is rejected. They may eventually give up and not post on certain people's threads - still lets the discussion flow but may upset some people.
In the end treat people how you like to be treated when writing something that could be a little personal in someone else's thread.
