Quoted from jalpert:

Since production is so close, any ETA on when we will see the final touches for the LE games?

I'd love to hear these details too. I thought we would have seen them by now with production right around the corner, but I can understand that Charlie must be extremely busy at the moment.

Quoted from lordloss:

I'm still waiting on my SS Billiards cue ball from your fundraiser.

Ha. Yeah I never recieved my item either.

After all the noise that was created around the MGC comments last year I just decided I didn't want it.

Man, I was so excited seeing some action and then I realize they are just dumb ass Kaneda bumps. WTF Carry on with the nonsense.

Just put him on ignore and Pinside becomes less agrivating. I can't believe people still respond to his stupid ass posts. The guy is either an idiot or a super troll. Probably both.

For some real news. Down here in Tejas we are running the 2 prototype PinHeck REV7 boards. SMT only today. Will solder the through hole parts tomorrow. Will post pictures once the solder paste warms up

#4206 4 years ago

Ship those circuit boards to Charlie asap. He doesn't need to pick them up at TPF.

Yeah once they are tested one will go up to Chuck and the other will stay down here till we 100% are sure the new board revision is solid. Maybe I should just hand deliver these to Chuck

I'd understand if there was a reason and they couldn't do the rewards... just send out an email. Dont' just leave people hanging.

#4209 4 years ago

Did the SMT work on the boards today. Here is our MY200 placing some of the parts on the PCB.

After all the parts are placed it goes into the reflow oven and gets baked to a peak temperature of 245C or 473F

Going into Reflow

Post Reflow. Looks good!

Just a question, dont know anything about circuit board design, How come it still uses a coin cell battery instead of a NVRAM? Ive noticed stern still uses the coin cell battery to. Is there a advantage to this?

RTC for one

To keep the real time clock (RTC) running. The battery is not used for keeping scores or settings. That data is stored in non volatile EEPROM.

The RTC basically just keeps current time.

do coin cells ever leak?

if so, is there an easy way to remove them and install a remote holder or NVRAM once in our homes? for those of us that care more about protecting a board than the features which rely on a RTC (which I think is currently just the ability to automatically change between f!ck version and shit version of profanity? based on time of day?).

No need for NVRAM if it already has EEPROM to save to. There is nothing to replace with NVRAM on the pinheck board since it never used battery backed RAM to begin with.

#4215 4 years ago

Technically they can, but it's rare.

good to know coin cells dont puke often

#4218 4 years ago

Cool looking board work Longhorn, sadly its Aggie colors, at least I don't have to look at it often

Yeah I have never seen a coin cell leak before.

Hate to say it again but I love covered play fields with detail art like TFTC, I know it's been brought up and bashed enough but really wish there was more on the playfield in this game. Oh well maybe Alice Cooper will be covered with details. There is no need for too much open plain space on any game made to a certain degree. Sorry just the way I feel.

It's understandable as we've all been conditioned to expect a ridiculous amount of busyness on pinball PF's. Myself included.

But then I realized I'd rather see three balanced and handpainted pieces of real art in front of me (face, tombstone, witch) than the
generic vector shapes with some uninspired clip art thrown in. I'll let you guess which recent titles may or may not fit that description

But you're right... you probably shouldn't keep "saying it again". When people constantly do this the thread gets unreadable. And I have certainly been guilty of this myself.

This is correct. NVRAM can not keep time. Having a RTC on the board enables us to do mode swaps and certain time madness modes.

Would be cool to do time based profanity mode when the young ones are asleep in bed. Then switch it back to family mode during their waking hours.

Sorry just could not help myself after playing my game today and thinking about it, oh well still wish the best for the game.probably just caught me on a off day but I truly miss the original concepts and play fields designs. Junkyard, Metallica, TOTAN. Etc.

Prototype Pinheck REV7 complete. Will be able to start testing it after work today but it passed the smoke test

Pic32 took code. Testing rest of the board tomorrow

#4229 4 years ago

Love the knocker and shaker outputs. Hopefully David has plans for those

Pinheck REV7 so far tests 100%. Waiting on the new programming cables so I can test the pinouts of the headers.

Everything I can test is working on my end. The new programming cables arrived yesterday and the pinout for that was confirmed working. A board is going up to Chuck and he should have it by Monday. Once confirmed working in RZ we will move forward with the production run.

Going to TPF this year?

Any chance of a sneak peak at the playfield with the new bonus inserts?

I saw today on spooky web site. You can upgrade your LEDs and add plastic protects. While it's being built.

Looks like their big 10" woofer. Kick ass!

Awesome. Where does it say that and pricing?

#4248 4 years ago

Kate said final price not determined for RZ yet. Web site says 60 for upgraded LEDs. The plastic protectors is 25 more. Look under games and swag.

Final price has already been advertised for RZ for a while. Those upgrades on their website are for AMH. I'd imagine they might offer something similar for RZ but I haven't heard anything official.

Green board under the Pinheck is a "bed of nails" style tester. It has a bunch of pogo pins (electrical spring contacts) that push into the bottom of the board. This will enable us here in Texas to quickly test and program the Pinhecks which is currently the longest step in the process. I will take a better picture once the whole thing is done.
