If anyone is having issues with the VUK fuse blowing, check that switch under the upper playfield. My VUK stopped working.. checked and the fuse was blown. Checked the switch and sure enough, the front tab was mashed into the middle tab. I'm betting this intermittently shorts the matrix and causes the VUK to lock on or rapid fire, blowing the fuse.

I bent the tabs apart, but it looks like it'll need an L-bracket (small coil stop?) right in front of the switch to protect it as a permanent fix.

I've been at v19 since I got it in April, once in awhile the VUK needs to try 2 or 3 times to get the ball up. Should I go look at the UPF switch I have seen mentioned before updating to v20, or would that be something else?

Have you adjusted the VUK coil strength? increase it by .5 increments until you no longer have an issue. Mine did this when the code didn't have finer strength adjustments (alternative being too strong at the time), but has been very very consistent since that update.

The switch issue that has been noted is responsible for the ball sitting in the VUK and doing nothing until ball search, which is different than what you are describing.

I've seen the following bit of weirdness twice now. During ball two I drain with ball save lit. It does nothing. No coil fire for ball eject. It just sits there until ball search starts. It runs through ball search a couple of times and then kicks out a ball into the shooter lane and auto-plunges. Moments later, it is end of ball animations - no flippers and the ball drains. Ball three loads into the shooter lane. Before it's been on the playfield any measurable time, the game goes dark and into game over state, and the ball drains.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Yes, I've got similar weirdness going on. It's been tough to put my hands on it as it's very intermittent, but it all started at V20. Have you been able to duplicate this issue consistently? Someone suggested to isolate hardware vs software and I've yet to do that. Do you have V20 loaded?

It's only happened twice, during two different sessions. I'm running the latest v20 and the problem has only happened under v20. Also, I had a bunch of games on the new code before this showed up.

Sounds like the same experience/issue. Mine didn't show up either until downloading V20(latest) with Goober patch after playing some games. Let me know if you isolate triggers for this event and I'll do the same. I'm leaning towards a software issue now that there are two experiencing this. I'm going to try to reload the code and try to duplicate in the next few days.

Thanks for the info! Decided to leave the VUK setting alone because it hasn't happened in a while. Upgrade went well and everything is working fine so far. I'm enjoying all the new extras.

I had stumbled upon an Easter Egg of sorts the other night. After finishing "What" and the ball drained to the ramp a 666K flashed on the screen real big and the theme from "Match Game" started playing. Taken back a bit I didn't get a chance to play very long afterwards. Kinda cool. Probably from the last update.

I know they stuck a Svengoolie easter egg in there somewhere.

Its at midnight based on the games time setting. If you haven't reset the clock to your neck of the woods, then it will be out of whack.

The Spooky Minute goes off at 12:00 I believe, but you can change the clock to anytime you want making it go off sooner or later.

I finally installed my topper,lighted lockdown bar and updated to v20 today. I've only played about 10 games and I am really impressed!

I'll have a fix for the save/eject/flipper issue.

This has to do with the save timer ending + failed eject + plus all balls laying on the 7 trough switches

It's probably always been there but with this update, a lot more people are playing the game, more often and more games in the wild now.

Hey Fawza. I have v20 on RZ and I'm not getting screens when you choose the mode. All it does is show me the score. I can choose modes but no indication on the screen of the mode.

Is it possible my update didn't work correctly? Everything looked normal.

I've been swamped so hadn't got around to posting about it.

Just wanted to give a shout out to Tim at Tim's Pinball Mods. I threw in his RHPL Arrow Mod and it is a great addition! After I installed it, the mast had snapped when putting the PF back in the cab and he shipped me a new one, no questions asked. Great seller and the mod is highly recommended.

Note: the sign looks washed out in photos but in person you can see it clearly

When I read the first sentence my first though was the game wasn't updated right.

Use a windows machine
Format the sd card
UnIp files to computer
Copy file from computer to card ( don't drag files from zip to sd card)

I will second this, I have Tim's mods and they are amazing. The sign is the flagship mod which looks completely at home on the game. I also recommend getting his lamp for the fried chicken and gasoline sign and the "no turning back" murder ride sign to cover most of the unfinished edge of the upper pf. All 3 of them together are great!

Do you have infected turned on ? I thought this was the symptom of that. When you change your selection does the playfeild lights indicate the mode picked.

I had the same thing. Turned off infected. And then hard re boot the machine (waiting 15 seconds of the game off)

I'm going to look at this today.

I also have a fix for the ball save being tested as well.

Second this - Turn it off and you will get the select screens again.

Second this also! - The mods are modestly priced and awesome. The RHPL to me is considered an upgrade for obvious reasons but also because that sign is buried under the wire form ramp.

I do have infected on. I was playing with all the options, including the adult time. I'll turn that off tonight and see if it straightens up. The playfield lights are indicating the mode selected.

BTW: I did the update exactly how he described so hopefully this is all it is.

I love Spooky and think Charlie, Ben, Fawzma et al are doing a bang up job. But can we please stop with the "you updated wrong" mantra so that must be the reason for your bugs. Ver 20 while a vast improvement is still obviously buggy. And if the upgrade process is so susceptible to introducing errors that it's the first reason given then maybe effort should be given to improving that. If it's a hardware limitation then send out preformed SD cards.

No - many people can't follow SIMPLE instructions and it's proven that is the cause of some of peoples' issues. Nobody is blindly throwing out the "you updated wrong" but when they say certain things are happening, it can be tied to updating wrong. I haven't experienced any problems updating to V20 or with bugs. Many others as well.

something else to consider, because its not just about what we are being told when there are problems. It's the things we aren't being told, like customers replacing SD cards with slower cards. We don't usually ask about it till it dawns on us to ask.

With every new update, the telltale signs of a bad update changes. I have to ask about updates because steps seems to get skipped, or assumptions are being made. I have found on more than one occasion where people have updated their card wrong in the past, only to find out in a later update; their update method no longer works.

I have a code question. Just got my Rob Zombie and played a couple games on version 19. Updated the code to version 20. Now I notice that when you hit the left orbit and you are able to change or select your mode that when you are hitting the flipper buttons to select a mode it does not show the mode options on the display only on the Playfield inserts. On version 19 you could see on the display the various modes that you could choose from. Now you only see the score. Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks. I also have the machine set to adult mode so I am not sure if this has anything to do with that or not.

OK so I finally get er set up. After several games the VUK stopped working. The switch registers in switch test. The wires on the coil are fine as well as the diode on the coil. It does not fire in solenoid test. Did the transistor blow? I would call spooky but it is after hours. Any ideas? Thanks, Mike
