Where were you when we had that TAF posted for 2.8k? I guess it sold in like 4 minutes, though....
I've got a Road Show question for the experts:
I happened to notice that when touching the side rail (ground) with one hand and the "start city" scoop weldment with the other, I was getting a little electric shock. I looked at the whole kick out weldment, top and bottom, but couldn't find anything interesting. It clearly isn't connected to ground, but it also didn't seem to be touching any wires. It looked like it should have been totally isolated, yet it continued to give a noticeable shock.
Anyone have any thoughts?
Using a voltmeter, what is the voltage between the two. The voltage level will tell you where it is coming from. Something has to be touching it.
Quoted from ktrain315:I think a good mod would be a better looking radio. Or even painting it.

That's actually a good idea might try it
After getting all the side sanded with 150 then 220 to prep for polyurethane, I need to sand the bottom and inside of the cabinet to get rid of all the dirt and aging. I will have to sand in the small corners with my detail sander but the inside and bottom are a big difference from what they were.
DSCN1717.JPG DSCN1718.JPG DSCN1719.JPG DSCN1720.JPGThat cabinet work looks amazing. I've never done one of those, but I think it would be both really satisfying and a really big pain in the butt to strip it down and sand it like that.

Many more hours to go on the cabinet they suck !
Quoted from wcbrandes:Ma would I love to buy this! Looking for an excellent example! Ice let me know whats out there
Other than NIB this one should be about as good as you get I did not spare any expense on parts.
Ok got the cabinet decals put on over the last week, I am extremely disappointed with the quality of the cabinet decals compared to what I am used to but I guess they will have to do for now and I will replace them after the show. I started assembling the bottom cabinet just installing ground braid here pretty self explanatory just need the correct staple gun, and braid I got these from pinrestore.

I gave this idea to my painter the dewalt radio is what he is doing good thought should be done by Friday along with the heads. I got my package from pinballpro today high energy subwoofer and a backbox volume control now, my other kit does not have backbox volume. I am almost done with the cabinet just need to put boards in after cleaning and tie up and route the harnesses. Also started installing all the original warning decals and serial number decals makes it look much more original.

I can't wait to get the heads so I can find out which part I forgot to order for the playfield (ther is always something little) and get this fired up, I am excited to bring this one to Ohio show last year I sold TZ a day before the show so It did not make it, this one will.
I started rebuilding the heads yesterday, and realized there was no centering flange for red's eyes so I am kind of screwed until I get the parts in. I got the heads back from the painter and I am very underwhelmed by the work that was done, I am sure it will look great in the game but not what I was looking for. I had him do the radio as well and I think I could have done a better job. After the show I am going to send these out to a very good artist that was to backed up to get to them so for now this is what I have to work with.
DSCN1766.JPG DSCN1767.JPG DSCN1768.JPG DSCN1769.JPG DSCN1770.JPG DSCN1772.JPGI dry fit the rebuilt heads today I broke ted's jaw so had to get another still needs another coat of paint on the lip, but I think they turned out ok they look great on the machine. I was hoping for a much better airbrush job not a hand painted deal but my wife actually did the eyeball corneas and they have the biggest impact on the look. I also redecalled one helmet and have the other to do. I got the apron back from the body shop today we tried to lay the decals under the clear but they gassed underneath so I guess over the clear will have to do it really shines though. All mech are rebuilt now and ready for the harnesses I am hoping to have the playfield done by Friday in case I need to work out any bugs before the show.
DSCN1789.JPG DSCN1790.JPG DSCN1792.JPGWow, nice. Roadshow is an awesome game, glad you are restoring one. I enjoy mine. Can't wait to see the finished game.
This Damn machine is kicking my arse, I got all the mechs done and started installing the lighting harness and the solenoid harness today. I am hoping to get the switch harness done tonight as well so I can get the PF off the rottiserie. I had a few more delays with more parts being ordered both jaw gears were bad so I had to replace them both, also two bad coils in the heads, and a missing coil bracket that I noticed. I am going full speed on this one as Ohio is next week.
DSCN1793.JPG DSCN1794.JPG DSCN1795.JPG DSCN1796.JPGThat is one awesome restoration Stephen. Don't know what you'll be asking for that bad boy, but it will be worth EVERY penny! Good luck the rest of the way.
I do need some help from someone that owns a RS, the wires I show in the first photo come from the cabinet harness and should hook up in the backbox, they are for the shaker motor. I can't seem to find this connection but maybe its because I have been working on this since 7 a.m.. If someone can point me in the right direction for this one I would surely appreciate it.

Getting it done in time for the show on Friday might be amazing still a lot of work to do.
Quoted from PinRob:Wow - super job! Do you work on other machines besides your own?
I do some work for others as well, I happen to like doing the restorations as much as playing them. If might get some work out of the Ohio show as long as this one gets done in time.

Tonight I pulled the playfield back out and began final assembly of the topside of the playfield. I have to install the falling rocks wireform and the crossover wireform, finish a few more small things and reinstall in the cabinet. I am feeling confident I will be done by Thursday night this game has been a bear.
