So I'm stumped on this one,
Picked up a roadshow and reds mouth would not stay up.
Thought a stripped gear was the problem but on closer investigation I found that the motor is stuck always on in the down direction.
It does change direction when its supposed too but when it should be off its moving down,

Ted is fine,
I've compared all the components on teds side (in circuit) to reds and they seem ok.

With the driver board connected (game in attract)I get +12v at pins 10,11
+12v at both 4 (red on) and 8 (red direction)
0v at both 2(ted on ) and 6 (ted direction)

But with the board disconnected I have only 12v at 10,11

To me this points to the Dual H-Dive motor board and not back at the power driver board.
Could the IC (ba10339) be the problem?

Any ideas or advice welcome!
Thanks

Does her jaw still work while she is talking, just not stay closed when quite?
If yes and her speech doesn't really sync up, could be the wires on the motor are reversed.
Desolder them and switch them up, you won't harm anything.

No the wires are not reversed,
It looks to me like one of the transistors is stuck on.All looks good on the tests tho.

I've ordered new transistors for the red side of the board.
and a new IC,just in case.

If the motor still is activated when J126 from powerdriver is disconnected, then the Motor-Controller-Board has a problem
But when the motor stops when J126 is disconnected, it is almost certain Q42 from powerdriverboard.

thanks zaza,
I'll spend a bit more time at it later and report back,

Quick and dirty: swap red and ted motor driver board and see if problem moves or stays.

Did you replace the jaw gears with the new black ones from BAA? If so, thats the problem, i just rebuilt red's head and it seems the big round gear is not perfectly round as it runs smooth but gets tight as you turn it then runs smooth, then gets tight ect. The motor will stop when it feels the binding, so my red's head will stop her jaw mid way open, then sometimes if you smack it right it will nudge it loose, but get stuck when she trys to talk again. I took it apart twice thinking i could adjust it, but its solid, so i have to find the orginal white gears i think.

No its getting power all the time in the down direction.
soon as the game comes on the mouth shoots down and stays there,
I've a few suggestions from this thread I'll try later.
I do plan on getting new gears etc when I have it sorted.

this

yep thats the first thing I'll do later,
Swap pins 4,2 and 8,6

If the problem moves its the Duel driver board,
If the problem stays with red its the Q42 transistor

Simples!
Thanks

Try reflowing the solders on the headers and components on the little board. Fixed all my problems and others I know as well. Seems to be a common problem that causes all kinds of weird behaviour.
Good luck eh!

OK,
Update.
Switched the sides and the problem stayed on the red side.
Looks like Q42, red motor on is the culprit!
Will Update again once I have it switched out for a new one.
Thanks!

Update.
New tip 102 transistor at Q42 and all is good!
Next up the eyes!
Thanks for the help
