Prepping for my longest road trip for a pin, going out of state this time....leaving about 5am tomorrow

My neighbor asked me where I was going and when I told him he gave me $50 to pick up a pound of sweet and sour turkey jerky, seems expensive...is that the going rate? Hopefully its not the only thing I come home with

A few travelling pics, and maybe a money shot...lets see what happens...

Turkey Jerky? Gross. Just toss some shoe leather in a bag and hand it to him.

Hope you have a safe drive!

#5 6 years ago

Go get some! Pin Trip! I'm in for this ride.

#6 6 years ago

Early Start! Have a safe Trip, and enjoy!

To answer the Jerky question, I end up at $17/pound from Dublin.

Love their Buffalo Jerky.

(They have Elk, Pheasant, Boar, even Kangaroo!)

Turkey jerky.... My wife insists on getting that when we are in TX visiting her parents, I think the place is called Buckys or something. It is much like chewing on shoe leather, I don't see the draw.

I cannot imagine you are going that far.

Bishop California, checked out their website. John Wayne used to get his jerky there and he died from stomach cancer!

Damn $39.04 a pound. Looks like I need to buy a dehydrator and bust out some guns.

Don't think people want squirrel, rabbit, neighbours cat, as a jerky meat.

Nc is 2nd top producer of farm bred turkey in us. Wild turkeys here are everywhere too.

#19 6 years ago

Its a decent business....Had a friend buying at $12 ish a pound wholesale, and packing for $39 a pound at Street Fair type sales.

He mentioned an average daily profit take home of $800-$1200 a day.
He worked 3 days a week, 1-2 weekends a month...not bad...
(although he ate a lot of the profits!)

#20 6 years ago

Wow, that's a long way for some Turkey Jerky. Ok trip over let's head home....

#21 6 years ago

I had never driver through the Sierras before, wow what a beautiful place. It was worth the drive with or without a game (or jerky)...

#23 6 years ago

If you think that's nice, check out Utah's Canyonlands.

#24 6 years ago

I'm rummaging through your wish list trying to guess the game... I've made my guess, but don't want to say it because I enjoy the reveals.

How do you know someone's a vegetarian?

They will tell you.

It's been 3 hours. WTF? We need updates!!

#35 6 years ago

What ever happened to good old fashion beef jerky?

Or are you one of those guys that eats chicken hot dogs too.

#36 6 years ago

Ok so I have had no cell service for the last few hours, which caused a bit of a huccup as I had no way to touch base with seller. The pin was at a 3rd party location and I was still not 100% sure that everything would fall into place. We stopped at a coffee shop and a barista was kind enough to let my wife use her phone to text the seller.
Everything went smooth and easy when I meet the seller (a fellow pinsider) and the game was as described... we jumped back on the road in about 20 min...then hit pounding rain , now we are in the mammoth mountain area with game in tow...
