Finally joined the club...found a really nice one that hasn't been all modded out. Now that I have one, you guys are going to be getting new ramps for this sometime this summer.

Thinking about swapping my boombox out for a more vintage variety. I am going to try to 3D print it in a way that will allow me to move the light on top to be behind the large speaker grills.

Oh no
New to this game teds eye during gameplay looks like it “fell off”
Anybody could point me in the right direction to fix would be fantastic
Thanks![quoted image]

It's okay...Ted just had a stroke from all the years of drinking and partying he was doing.

Pulled my ramps today, which can only mean one thing... New ramps are coming soon!

Did a test pull today...have to make some mold adjustments, but they are coming along! Screwed them up getting them too hot, so there are some wavy edges, as evidenced on the lower right. Also none of the secondary work is done on these....just a pull and trim.

Quoted from Piso:

Great work, first road show repro ramps I've seen! Is it the picture or is the plastic a bit thinner than the original ramps?

Good eye...I'm running some slightly thinner plastic right now because that's what I can get and have for other parts, but production ramps will be 1/8" material, as original.

#2048 3 years ago

Actually, I'm wrong. These were made from .100" material...which is what I was running...I'm guessing it's a bit of an optical illusion. I may still try to get .125" material if possible though. You can measure all over the ramp and see places it will stretch down to .040" in places...it all depends on how and where the plastic stretches to the mold.

Quoted from Piso:

They way you have made your mould is the finished ramp thicker at the bottom where the ball rolls or on top (printing the ramp upside down)?

Upside down, but the horizontal surface where the ball rolls isn't thinning out like you would think...the vertical sides of the ramp is where most of the stretch happens.

I posted this in my ramp thread, but I thought I would share it here also. I made a decent set of ramps off my mold tooling this weekend to get my own machine back together. I have one issue to work out with a wavy corner at the one exit, and will be making a half dozen sets or so soon. Stickers are only available from Australia right now since they are licensed.

Anyone have a translite they want to get rid of? shoot me a PM

There is one on eBay for $99 right now. Not sure what the going rate on these are.

Just a heads up, I have 2 set of RS ramps going out today, and I have 2-3 sets left...and that will probably be it for Road show in 2020.

Quoted from ClarkKent:

Does anybody have an idea how to mechanically dimm LEDs with some kind of foil or similar? I‘m using red and blue leds for the map border but they are so extremely bright that it’s really disturbing - but I like the blue and red border...

Leave the machine on for several hours, the brightness will die down a bit. LED's tend to cool off a bit over time compared to when they are brand new.

I have a nice batch of Road Show ramps on the bench right now in the process of being finished. If anyone would like a clear set, let me know in the next few days before I make them all yellow!

I do not do anything with decals, especially on heavily protected B/W IP. It's a huge money sink on my end, and I can't afford that at this point. The old decals should be easily reusable though using the freeze spray method. They made them very durable back then.

Quoted from cottonm4:

Hi. I come to the Road Show thread looking for a favor. I do not own a Road Show. I need pair of eyes that are trashed and not usable---for project I want to try.
If anybody has a couple of eyes laying around and would be willing to part with them, please send me a PM.
Thank you.

That hand paint job is pretty cringe. That looks like an easy job to make a paint mask using a vinyl cutter and some Oramask and then spraying the appropriate color for the eye detail (preferably with an airbrush). I do not have the time to make these, but could help someone else out with a DXF file of the geometry if need be.
