Member of the club now, always wanted one, now I have one. More info in future posts

Is there supposed to be a clear plastic or something over the left ramp? If I get a good shot at it the ball comes around and hops off the ramp. Usually it bounces off the side of the cab and back onto the ramp, but sometimes finds fun places to get stuck.

#1712 1 year ago

Looks like it’s melted a bit. Maybe overheating coils at some point?

Man, I didn’t know the shaker boards were in demand. If the other routes fall flat just let me know. I have a working board to sample in my own RS and would be willing to make them for sale as part of my lineup.

#1785 11 months ago

Swapped a few PM’s today and I’ll be fronting the effort on new shaker motor boards.

I’ve got a schematic, I’ve got a working board, and I’ve got a road-show to test it in. Couple prototypes I’ll be getting boards ordered for in a week or two, so I’ll try to get these in at the same time.

#1788 11 months ago

Can't speak for using the Stern motor without having one to look at, so I'll decline to answer either way for the moment on that question.

But for the repro of the A-19720 board? That will be happening. Won't know exact price for a bit, other than to say 'not expensive'.

Well, that shaker board was easier than I expected. Just waiting on a check or two to come in and I’ll start ordering parts and such. Given how simple it is I can skip the usual testing phase.

I’ll have pricing in a couple days.

Just waiting on a check to come in before ordering the shaker motor board blanks. Layout is done and ready to submit on these.

In the meantime, anybody have a busted left ramp they can spare? I want to make up some kind of cover to keep the ball from flying off the ramp, but don't want to tear my game apart to get access for measuring.

Pricing on the shaker boards will be $30 retail, fully assembled, to original Williams specs. Simple enough that I don't see a need to make any improvements, and all the original parts are available on the open market. Even the original size/style heatsink.

I should have them ready to ship by around the 15th of July. Parts going on order this weekend.

#1801 11 months ago

I opened up a page for pre-orders on the website.
20 boards on order for the initial batch, but as long as people keep buying them, I'll keep making them.

Shaker motor boards will be going out starting this weekend. Have one of the new ones installed in my own game, working fine, and is dimensionally/electrically identical to the originals. They're ready to sell. Building now.

Anybody want $5 off on one with a blemish? Was going to try rivets on the transistor, instead of screws, but takes too much force and cracked the housing on one of the transistor bodies. It'll be my test-dummy over the weekend.

Just an FYI until I update the website tomorrow, this board works in Road Show but not Earthshaker. Earthshaker uses a different board than this one. The connectors are are different pinouts.

#1806 11 months ago

Well, that was quick. Almost out of the first batch of 10, only 1 still available at the moment (Plus the blemished one). Still have boards for another 13, those will be ready to ship in about a week.

12 more shaker motor boards are now ready to go. At this point they’ll just be regular inventory, so I’ll restock as needed, and keep them active for as long as people are buying them.

Should also be showing up on Marco’s website real quick too.

I don't think anybody has said where to get it though, is it something available to buy?

I keep trying to decide what I want to do with my pop bumpers. But I'm half considering some opaque ones or something.

Quoted from manadams:

So I have looked in both standard and feature adjustments for the option to turn down shaker strength and cannot find it. Can someone tell me where to specifically look for that adjustment.

Which ROM version do you have? Earlier versions didn't have the option on them.

Any chance you could add something to the protector set? Would be great to have something covering the turnaround on the left plastic ramp, so the ball doesn't jump out when you get a really good ramp shot.

It depends on if the “bridge out” lights are on for the right ramp. Such an annoying ramp to hit that I dont remember if the lights are on or off to trigger the diverter

Welcome to the club! Looks like a well sorted machine from the photo.

Quoted from Spacemanratso09:

I am looking for a nice Road Show.
Looking through ads and pics I see them with a post in between the flippers some without, some with a flat circle there some with nothing
How was the game originally?
Thanks

Early games had the post, was removed during the production run. I prefer without.

Left flipper button actually activates 3 flippers, so it’s a significant amperage drop, more than other games where both L and R flippers are needed to cause a reset issue.

First spot to check is always the power connectors going into your power-driver board. When they start to get flaky is a common source of reset issues. Games reset any time the game dips below the magic 4.85 volts on the logic circuit.

Fish wear is cosmetic only, as long as it’s not absurdly bad. Some places sell repair decals. Mine has a decal and you wouldn’t know unless you reallllly looked for it.
