Quoted from nsmith:

just be aware that one that is in great condition IE little to no fade on cabinet, no wear on play field (very common for there to be wear next to the fish)and has been well maintained can go for higher then 2500. Average is usually between 2500 to 3000. However as iceman44 said you can find them as low as 2000 to 2200. under 2000 it has probably been beat to hell.

Picked mine up for $2250. Needed Jaw motor for Ted, jaw gear for Ted and jaw gear for Red. Pop bumper cap cracked as well. Lots of cleaning needed too. I put in some led's in several spots to brighten up. Have $250 in parts, so I am back up to $2500 total.

Personally haven't seen very many cleaned up machines for less than $2750.

When i put the game together.. I swapped the connectors to the motors by mistake.. made for some interesting gameplay!!

You can't accidentally plug them in wrong, they are keyed to prevent this. You had to do it intentionally.

Webdiddy, If you disagree with my comment, please share how I am incorrect? Maybe I have some real special molex connectors on my machine that no other RS has. Just looking to understand your thumb down.

Quoted from stephenshane237:

How did the game turn out ? are you happy with it ? I finally found my son a Funhouse to put next to the RS, he is doing a restoration on it right now.

I saw the thread. I have a 19 year old and a 16 year old and neither were interested in messing with the machines with me. Love to see your son involved. The roadshow has cleaned up well. It can't carry water to the one you did, but it looks 100% better than when I picked it up. I pulled the coin door off, sand blasted it and repainted it. It's amazing how a coin door makes such a difference.

Beyond a thorough cleaning and adding a few LED's, the majority if issues were with the jaw gears and a burnt jaw motor.

For one of the jaws, the previous owner put a screw in to connect the jaw to the linkage. When I was cleaning out the machine, I found the proper pin with snap rings. I know operators are all about getting a machine back up and running, but seeing hacks like this just irritates me.

I did use some locktite on a couple of screws on both Red and Ted. I think the shaker motor is vibrating some of them lose.

The lockdown bar your dad sent is awesome! I hate the repaired lockdown bars with holes in them and bolts.

I pulled the faces and thoroughly cleaned them both. Wife loves playing it, so I put them back on for now. Will probably get theme painted like your dad did.

Only other addition I am considering is painting the radio. It is SO bland.

Look forward to watching you and your Dad restore the Funhouse. We love our Funhouse as well. Great game.

Bishop and Mocean, my dozer is flaky too. Probably doesn't raise in multi all mode 1 in every 10 times. Sometimes I want things to completely fail so I can find the actual issue. 1 in 10 makes it next to impossible to trouble shoot.

#349 9 years ago
Quoted from Mocean:

That was my EXACT behavior. Last time I was under I checked everything on that board with a DMM and it tested okay. My wiggled the connector and reseated it and it's been working since. If it fails again I'll reflow the solder to the connector pins.

I just went and playd 3 games and it worked perfectly. Like your idea of re flowing the solder if it acts up again. Will do that as well.

According to the manual, the bulb on the radio (555) and the 44 bulb under the playfield where the word radio is are connected together and are triggered by lamp matrix 43. Row 3 column 4 in the lamp matrix.

#1268 6 years ago
Quoted from joey__p__1966:

BTW: not in manual .

Here is the page I am referring to that shows the radio light. See #43, it references two lights. I was assuming the question was the light on the radio and not the flasher under the playfield, which you referenced.

Quoted from PinballCoug:

The yellow dome in question is actually directly below the right 43 (which is the radio light) and is illustrated in the manual with a larger circle in both the lamp and flasher location maps but is unidentified on both. I've made some markups on the attached photos to help communicate the lamp in question.

My mistake, I thought you were asking about the actual radio. I put my machine in flasher test mode and included a photo of what is identified when mine flash’s. It appears to be tied to the jets flasher located between the pop bumpers below the playfield.

Quoted from PinballCoug:

Checked the wiring and it was just fine...but discovered someone (possibly me ) stuck a normal bulb in rather than a flasher. Made the change and all is good. Did make a note this guy is tied to 44 though.

Good deal! Glad you figured it out!

PinballDoctor1 makes/sells the Lock Light - he doesn't have any active listings but if you PM him he might be able to get you one?

I bought mine from him a month or so ago. Well worth the money. PM him and he will hook you up!

Quoted from Coyote:

Prices depended on your relationship with the distributor. Larger customers got lower prices than smaller customers. The company I worked for bought a couple new WPC-89 games for $3500 - $4000 in that era. We were a larger customer, though.

Would be neat to see the original list price in comparison to the current value.

Since the bulldozer works during test, I am assuming it is the opto board, where can i find this part and make sure i order the correct part?
As for the motors for the mouths, I take back what i said. I DO NOT hear the motors running during test so i am assuming the motors are either bad or not functioning. The eyes in both Red and Ted work fine, open and shut and look from side to side. I found the motor (9-18VDC - Radioshack part #) but I am not able to find this motor anywhere. I am going to take apart the motors this weekend and clean them up and follow the walk through that was posted by PinballSupernova (https://pinballsupernova.wordpress.com/2018/03/25/pinball-repair-repairing-teds-bulldozer-front-on-williams-road-show-motor-rebuild-and-parts-replacement-video/).
I would prefer to replace the motors since they are relatively cheap but might as well take the motors apart and clean them since i am unable to find them. Any suggestions where I can find this motor? Or any suggestions for me to look at while I am trying to fix these issues?

Reading your posts and having a RS myself and having dealt with bulldozer, jaw and eye issues, I recommend you lift the playfield and run the various tests while watching what happens. You will unlikely be unable to diagnose the real problem from the top of the playfield. I had to take the head apart to diagnose eye issues.

When you ran the bulldozer test opto board register properly. It shows open and closed and makes a tone and shows an X as it goes up and down.

My problem with my bulldozer ended up being a bad connection all the way at the MPU board. I had a poor connection with the connector to the board.

My dozer tests always showed all was good.

Quoted from kechlesurf:

I did that the other day and I know the motors for Red and Ted do not run. I am hoping one day this weekend to have a few hours to take the motors out and clean them up a little to see if that helps.

Really surprised that both motors are shot. Possible, but not what I would expect. Would be interesting to check them separately. Run power and see if they spin. Wouldn’t be surprised if something else was the root issue. Start with what you know isn’t working.

I just joined the club last week. My game has a hole for a center post just below the "Shoot Again" insert. It's obviously factory since the artwork goes around it. Is this an early/sample playfield?
[quoted image]

Mine has a hole there too. Don’t believe it’s anything special to our machines.

Not the best “new owner” thing to start with on. RS. You will quickly hate working on the heads. It’s a bear to get inside them to fix them. I have worked on them both ways, completely removing the head from the game and trying to fix it while in the machine.

You will have to first remove the hat (one screw). Then you can remove two screws on the side of the head to loosen up the face plate. You will. Have to look inside then and see what is broken. Could be a couple things. #1) there is a plastic that connects to a serve for each eye that gets brittle and breaks. There is also a spring on the back that recent era the eye when the servo stops moving the eye. There is also the possibility servo that moves the eye is stuck or even fried. There is also some linkage to the eye that could be damaged or broken. Even the eyes themself have a connector on the back that can break.

Bottom line you will have to tear into it and see. Since you have not worked on one before, looking at the good eye will help you see what may be wrong with the bad eye.

Post picks here and we can help. I have torn apart at least 3 myself to fix them.

This looks more like the door on the translite. His bulldozer is an open cab type. Very old school. Would think someone could paint/detail this old toy.

Fellow RS owners. Having an issue with my machine, just thought I would drop a link here to the thread.

Thanks in advance!

Still one of the best games I have. My only complaint is the dozer sometimes being flaky. Works 90% of the time.

I have messed with every part of it too!
