We have a Road Kings here at work with a problem where the upper left kickout hole (not the J-Ramp kickout) will drain the ball straight down the middle. The playfield is horizontally level and is angled at about 6 degrees. The weird thing is that there are some days where the ball has no problem heading towards one of the two flippers, but there will be long stretches where it goes straight down the middle. This completely kills 2/3 of all multiball rounds before they even start - unless you're savy enough to knock one ball with the other.
It doesn't look like there are any bumpers or posts missing, and I've checked the coil to make sure it's kicking with enough force to get the ball to round that metal rail and keep going in that direction. I'm considering fashioning some kind of two-way spring in there somehow, like the one in the middle of the playfield in AC/DC. This would at least give the ball some wobble on the way out, but shouldn't adversely affect the ball on the way in.
Does anyone have any ideas about how I can counteract this behavior? I feel like it's killing enthusiasm for the game around here.
