Put together a rivet press, the one harbor freight sells and modified to use the kit that pinball restore sells...since completing it and using it I find that the rivets dont roll over as nicely as they do when I use my hammer and hit it quick and hard using my vice to hold the bottom die...is there some trick I'm missing here? Picture is a sample I did to show the issue

Here is the same piece with two washers...same issue. Alignment is right on ( I'll try and get a pic)..these Are the smallest rivets in the kit...it just seems that the roll over isn't right...how fast do you do it? When I use the old hammer method, never had any issues...rolled right over...rivets dies are all from pinrestore

Ok, so I added another washer, pressed it...same thing...rivet cracked...I looked at the die, the center "point" is protruding out futher than the die that works correctly...so I ground it down a bit to make them even...still no good after another test press....I then looked at the diameter of the center much larger on the one that isn't working correctly...I'm chalking this up to a defective die here....anyone see anything different....chime up

    Quoted from pinballinreno:

What is the thickness of the material?
What is the length of the rivet?
I have used a center punch and a hammer to set rivets with good results, so the dies can be somewhat random and still work.

2.4 mm with the smallest rivet in the box...this was the latest iteration with the ground down tip...its clearly going to wide...

...and the alignment of the dies in the press at 90 degrees

Now here the same flap with three washers and the same rivet...but using the handheld rivet die that pinrestore sells...other than the split...this is how it should be...bad die for sure

So I purchased a new rivet die from a different company, now it works great!...Pinrestore btw, going out of business as of today...
