I'm not really sad to see them go. I had multiple bad experiences there, they made it such a pain to buy anything like video games. Amazon didn't kill them, they did themselves in. It's finally getting to the time where all these companies that treated their customers the worst (Blockbuster, Toys'r'us, Gamestop, etc) are finally feeling the downside of doing that for years. Gamestop probably will be next, and they kind of deserve it to. I remember when they used to jack up new releases by an extra $5 over MSRP because they were the only local place to have enough copies. People don't forget stuff like that, or at least I don't.

It's going to take longer but some of the other notorious areas for bad service/screwing you (cable companies and rental cars) will be the next areas to be done in.

    Quoted from mcluvin:

When all that's left is Amazon and Wal-mart we're all gonna be f'd.

How do you figure? Toys'r'us was already the most expensive by a mile. Gamestop going out of business won't change video game prices because they're already the most expensive. Things only get bad for consumers when the low price leaders go out of business. I'd much rather have Walmart and Amazon around than Toys'r'us, Gamestop, Blockbuster, Sears, JC Penney, etc. The local company I don't want to get squashed is Best Buy, as they have a lot of good deals on video games.

    Quoted from mcluvin:

I want healthy competition. I rarely ever shopped at Toys R Us, but it was an option. Now it's not.

It was an option in the sense that if you were really desperate and needed a last minute gift where everyone else was out, you could count on Toys'r'us to have one at a much higher cost than everywhere else. That's all it was really good for, when you were out of options.

    Quoted from mcluvin:

This past Christmas they were the cheapest option by far for an Angel Tree request we needed to fulfill.

Were you shopping for Skylanders? As that's the only thing I can think of that was cheap at Toys'r'us, lol.

I went to our local one that was shutting down, even at 30 to 40% off I could find everything cheaper online. I ended up buying nothing.
