That story has been around for 35 years. True or not, it doesn't take away from his talent.
Going through my movie library, I was surprised how many Tobe Hooper films I own... Invaders From Mars, Lifeforce, TCM, TCM 2, Salem's Lot, Poltergeist, etc. Great catalog, and I'll definitely find one or two to watch this weekend.
