You still have the loonie.

They'll replace her with....<shudder>.....King Charles.

My mistake, the loonie was discontinued in 2012.

If Princess Diana was still alive, what would her new role be?

Awkward.

The equivalent to what Prince Philip was before he passed away in 2021. (Prince married to a Queen)

So she'd still be princess but married to a king instead of a prince.

#11 1 year ago

Quite the reign for Queen Elizabeth II - may she rest in peace.

Long live HRM King Charles III! Just like with certain 4-player pinball games/matches, if you wait long enough - you'll eventually get your turn!

So still a princess but married to a king instead of a prince.

I was assuming that Diana would be divorced by now. I guess still a princess is the answer there too.

Lol, well I didn't want to state the obvious. So I just explained the chain of command instead.

Camilla will be the new Queen of England tomorrow, after the ceremony.

The Wife of the King is the Queen, pure and simple.

There really isnt any more to it.

Queen Consort

Still not sure how it works. I think you have to have royal lineage, so one half of a royal couple only can be King or Queen, the other non-royal is Princess or Prince. But I am not sure.

#17 1 year ago

Here is hoping that is the end of the Monarchy on our money. We are already transitioning away from it so I can't imagine it would continue.

Queen Consort

Yes consort....I forgot. Thanks for the correction.

Queen Consort today, Queen tomorrow after the ceremony.

The wife of the King is Queen, period.

However the husband of the Queen, is not the King...

Been that way for a thousand years or more.

She wouldn't inherit the throne if Charles died. I think that's why she's technically Queen consort.

So she would then be the Queen Camilla Queen Step-Mother?

This is a real loss for the globe and my condolences to all who loved her. I had heard that Charles at some point had decided he would not be king and would pass it down to his oldest boy.

There's no way Charles is passing this up guys. Lol

That's not how it works. There's only one true King or Queen. Camilla may have the title of Queen Consort, but the sovereign is King Charles.

Quoted from ImNotNorm:

This is correct. There is no rule that says you have to have a reigning King and a reigning Queen.

One is sufficient.

#30 1 year ago

Yeah, It'll be Charles. Its like when people win the lottery but say they will keep they're job. Not that he's won a lottey I mean the poor guy just lost his mother but is also being handed the keys to a nation.

#31 1 year ago

The Queen of England also had the title of Queen of Canada, fyi. Her Majesty always had a special thought for Canada, where she stayed during WW2 for her safety. Anyhoo, always took the time to travel and meet with the Commonwealth, always interested and concerned about the state of the world. She literally saw it all. Was truly respected.

#32 1 year ago

All I know is it's like the Super Bowl for my gf and her friends.

I hope she got her fill of the coverage today, as football season starts tonight!

#33 1 year ago
Quoted from Saltimbanco:

Canada, where she stayed during WW2 for her safety

This is not altogether true, the King elected that everyone stay in England as a position of solidarity.

Though they did tour Canada in 1939 prior to/during the build up of the war.

#34 1 year ago
Quoted from Pinstein:

Yeah, It'll be Charles.

He already is.

"At the moment the Queen died, the throne passed immediately and without ceremony to the heir, Charles, the former Prince of Wales...

He will be known as King Charles III.

That was the first decision of the new king's reign. He could have chosen from any of his four names - Charles Philip Arthur George."

--From a BBC News article titled "Charles is the new king. Here's what happens next.

Was Charles ever on the Epstein flight manifest? Or was it only ever Andrew the Unsweaty.

What a shame, the Queen was a true workhorse.
She never stopped.
Liz Truss our new Prime Minister had an audience with her just a few days ago

She also ordered the Star Spangled Banner to be played on 9/13 ( after 9/11 ) at the ceremonial daily parade at Buckingham Palace.

Like her or not. That was a class act.

The best was that olympics half time show where they had her parachuting off the plane into the stadium
absolute classic.

Noone is calling Camilla queen. The queen’s uncle had to abdicate the thrown to her father for just this reason. He chose a twice divorced actress with common blood.

There was talk that Queen Elizabeth was going to force Charles to abdicate to William because of Camilla, but I guess she softened up in her old age. But again, Camilla”s official title is Queen Consort, and she will never be Queen.

If only Queen Elizabeth had lived one more week ... she would have known if her favorite James Bond is part of Stern's new game.
