A true original. Norm's 2011 special ("Me Doing Standup") is my favorite comedy album ever, no question. And if you like his stuff but didn't catch all three seasons of his podcast ("Norm MacDonald Live") it's a must-listen. They pulled it off the Apple store and Youtube when he got his most recent Netflix show but I'm hoping it will resurface now that he's passed. Youtube also has compilations of his Letterman and Conan appearances that are gold, I've watched them a dozen times and still get sucked in every six months or so.

I always planned to see Norm live when he passed through Denver on one of his relentless standup tours, but somehow it never happened. I'm sorry to have missed him.

    Quoted from FamDocKevin:

At least he wasn't a hypocrite.

Laughing just reading this! Goddamn, I'm going to miss this guy.

    Quoted from ImNotNorm:

That was the Bob Sagat roast.

"You have a lot of well-wishers here tonight. And a lot of them would like to throw you down one -- a well. They want to murder you in a well, which seems a bit harsh, but that's what it says here on this cue card."

I have to imagine a Norm Macdonald memorial edition of The Man Grate will be available shortly. Made from 100% Cast I-ron.

    Quoted from Deaconblooze:

I love authentic people, and Norm was one of my very favorite comedians.

"Authentic" is a great word for him, which is funny because he was also a very private person, and loved telling wild anecdotes about himself with a straight face so that you could never quite tell which stories were real. He rightly saw all of his public appearances and interviews as performances, and was out to make someone laugh, even if it was just himself, not to boost the image of "Norm Macdonald." And for that reason he was far more authentic telling obvious lies about himself than the celebrity sitting next to him telling a story that was 90% true but was told only to paint them in a flattering or relatable light. Norm was that rare person that seemed to have very little interest in the self-promoting side of fame.
