Well, that was a shock. RIP from a fellow Massachusetts native. Never met him but have MMr at home. From the pictures, he always reminded me of another legendary guy, Boston College's Doug Flutie.

Quoted from crazypinballguy:Such sad news!
I have to share this ...
Only diving headfirst into this hobby in 2018, I didn't know anything of the legendary players, designers or coders in pinball.
Shortly after, while at a pinball show, either Pinfest or Pinburgh, I snapped a pic of someone playing with a very unique stance. I had never seen anyone position themselves quite like that and thought my wife would get a kick out of the pic.
Today, after seeing various pics of Lyman posted by other Pinsiders in this thread, I had a strange realization ... could that photo, I took a few years ago, been of Lyman Sheats.
I searched back through my photo archives and there it was in my archives. I showed my wife and said, "I think I took a photo of Lyman Sheats!"
My wife was skeptical at first, since you can't see this man's face, but when I showed her another pic that someone had posted that had a striking resemblance, she took another look. She then spotted that even the sneakers looked the same, not too mention a similar bottle of water by his feet.
Did I take a pic of a true "Pinball Legend" and not even know it at the time ... I think, I did ... but maybe, I'll never know for sure.
One thing I do know, I wish I would have said, "Hello," to that fellow and said, "..that's quite a playing stance!"
(For comparison, I attached my photo of him(?) playing Atlantis and another pic of Lyman previously posted in this thread. )

Same sneakers...
I hope this post is not taken in any other way than which I am posting it as I am a long time software engineer as well. No idea what physical issues if any Lyman Sheats had but I can offer some insight on the rigors of intense software projects and relentless tech support. Most of the time, we sit for hours upon hours and that is very unhealthy. For any pinball companies here, if you do not already, please encourage employees to get up out of that seat and move around.
If anyone is donating in Lyman Sheats' memory at the link provided by his family, how is the recipient portion filled out? It's not clear to me. You can PM me if you do not wish to post here. Thanks in advance.
I don't know how this applies here for others or if you consider it relevant but it is just a story that resonated with me a long time ago.
I watched a tv news casted story about epilepsy where a father was interviewed about his son who had epilepsy. The son had epileptic seizures and his Father had taken care of him during those episodes. The interviewer said something to the effect, "If you had one wish I bet it would be to cure your son of this affliction". The father said, "I would not want to make that decision for him as when my son comes out of the episodes and is healthy for a time, during that time he has as intense a love and appreciation for life that seems rare. I would not want to take that away from him."
I think like that when I am ensconced in bad stressful situations with seemingly no end, the tunnel is dark but at some point the light at the end will get reached and it seems even brighter when that happens. Darkness and light are both part of the experience. Other people can be inspiration and affirmation of this.
Shed a tear during this service, my Dad passed 5 years ago today. RIP Lyman. I did not know you but personally I could not eulogize my Dad in public at that time and did that privately because well he's my Dad and I could not possibly get those words out coherently for someone who means that much to me. It's hard to do that and respect to the people who did that here. Lyman is a legend, like any legend it's unique to that individual as to why that is so. Sorry we missed meeting you at Pintastic my only chance to do so. Next time I am on the Cape we will skip a rock into the ocean in your honor.
Quoted from Monk:I had to put my love out to Lyman into the wild today. Hopefully it will stand for some time. I never met him, but this has resonated with me more than I would have thought. I will continue to pray for him, his family, and his friends.

Where's a location play in Syracuse?
