Never a true Parrothead but did enjoy many of his songs, shame we lost another legend in the music industry.

    #2 1 year ago

    So many great songs.

    RIP Jimmy

    Oh no, very sad news.

I know he'll find his salt on the other side.

    Criminally underrated as a songwriter

    #6 1 year ago

Jimmy was a true one of a kind original. Such a great dude. He brought joy and happiness to so many. The man will be sorely missed.

If we couldn’t laugh, we’d all go insane. Truer words, Jimmy. Rest easy, I’ll be having margaritas in your honor.

    #8 1 year ago

A lot of people don't realise this, but Jimmy was also a very accomplished entrepreneur and businessman. And the man always seemed to enjoy his life.
    RIP

Sail on Jimmy. I’ve been a fan from the beginning. I’ve been to around 20 shows and a member of his PHiP Parrothead club for 22 years. The club turned 25 last year. This one hurts.

My favorite line of his that sums up his lifestyle for me is “I’m spending your money foolishly”. He flew and owned several planes. He captained and owned several sailboats. He surfed exotic locations until recently when he became too sick to do it. In the end, he got his wish “I’d rather die while I’m living, than live while I’m dead”.

I believe he had owned a PBY Catalina ww2 sea plane. Not a true parrot head here, but liked several songs.

The freaking craziest thing was yesterday we were driving and listening to margaritaville on Sirius xm and I said to my wife that he’s probably retiring soon. We just heard the news and looked at each other. Damn.

Some people claim that there’s a woman to blame

As the son of a son of a sailor, myself, this one hits hard.
Definitely a lifetime parrot head, and lover of many of his lesser known songs.

I know it isn't everyone's thing, but I really wish this could have been something that happened while he was with us; with his own voice doing the call outs.
With how big his branding was, I've been surprised it wasn't done already.

Jimmy was a great marketing person, and a legend of an entertainer for MANY fans. It's about the vibe, and bringing relaxing joy, and lowered stress. I'm always amazed when people don't realize how much music he has really put out.

DOZENS of albums, and decades of making people happy through his music and shows... RIP Jimmy.

at this rate, you old-timers are going to be forced to embrace Harry Styles, Katy Perry and Lady GaGa as the sole surviving Classic Rock artists.

Jimmy will be missed, lots of great memories from his concerts over the years. I’ll be having a landshark and margarita for him today!

    #26 1 year ago

I love hearing stories from my friends who work touring with great acts. My friends brother was his road manager for 30 years. I never met his brother, but the fact the road crew would call a guy in the lights dept who had been there 20 years the "new" guy and his trucking head was there for 40 years tells you something about the man. These crews rarely stay together like his did.

My friends brother had a break from touring with Dan Fogelberg and was able to do a tour with Jimmy and never looked back. Timing can be everything in life.

    RIP.
My all time favorite singer. I was so glad I got to see him again this past March!

Great songs and performer! I often think of Jimmy Buffett when I look at this sign in my gameroom:

As he sang with Alan Jackson: "It's 5 o'clock somewhere."

    Rest in Peace Jimmy.

Always felt like his songs would make a great tiki themed pin. RIP to a real one who did his way!

The Stones are putting out a new album this week. Laugh all you want, clearly these are guys that love their craft... And keep rocking.

I worked for Jimmy on a show a long time ago in Charleston, SC. I was his guy for the show/day. I picked him up and remember the elevator ride down with him being super uncomfortable. I just didn’t know what to say. I was like “what’s up jimmy”
He was an easy guy and didn’t ask for much of anything for the show. He had a guy that’d been with him forever. His only job was to get weed wherever they were.

Oddly, when he got sick a few months ago, his next show he cancelled the exact same venue in Charleston.
    RIP

RIP Jimmy, we’ll be playing his music all day and maybe a little pinball. Two songs come to mind right now. He Went to Paris and A Pirate looks at 40.
    Thank you Jimmy!!!

I've never been a fan of his. Not intentionally, but I just never "discovered" him until tonight.
I had a little private "parrothead" party on my front porch this evening in his honor.
I played a lot of his music. I didn't know much beyond Margaritaville and Cheeseburger in Paradise, but now I realize what a talent the world has lost. Really great music. Feel good stuff. Very versatile, with country, Latin and reggae influences.
I hope he's enjoying a big Margarita and a Cheeseburger in Paradise!

Have been a Parrot Head ever since going to his free, pop up concerts
at the Univ of Fla in the early to mid 1970's while a student.
Unlike many famous musicians he never seemed to have forgotten
his roots and his music reflected that.

The song I remember most from those concerts was 'Lets get drunk
and Screw'. A song he said would never be recorded but was years later.
    RIP Jimmy!

Reporting that cause of death was skin cancer that turned in to Lymphoma. Careful in the sun everyone and get checked by a doc. It may save your life.
