    Quoted from PismoArcade:

Yep; Bindi...Gilbert "Dice" Gottfried".....Dracula Gottfried....Sitting in on the news.
Classic radio. So sad that the current version of the show is beyond terrible.

what are the chances Howard even mentions anything... if feel like he banned Gilbert from appearing on the show once he went all Hollywood Howie. maybe we'll get a 'Robin... you know i was just going to call Gilbert the other day..."

He'll probably say something but in true Howard fashion, he'll make it all about himself.

Really gotta respect this man was always in character. It’s unbelievable!! Even in the eulogies and remembrances and the 9/11 documentaries, he stayed in character.
Pretty hardcore dedication to the craft. Much respect that he somehow made his screaming, “cutlery in a garbage disposal” voice an acceptable, sincere indoor voice.

Maybe that was just him. Has anyone ever seen him “normal “?

Once you hear a joke it is no longer funny-- you know the joke. Gilbert could tell the same tired old joke you learned in high school and it would be tears running down my face laughing funny.

This year keeps getting less and less funny.

this really sucks RIP to the one of the best. I loved when he would show up on Howard Stern

When Gilbert sat in on the news and riffed with Artie, that was some of the funniest radio ever. The news would take like 2 hours and Robin would get so annoyed at them.

I watched the Gilbert documentary last nite…it was free on Roku & some other streaming services. His dad died around the same age. I feel so sad for his wife & kids.

Howard talked about Gilbert at great length on his show today and was very respectful IMO.

Mentioned they will be airing a tribute on Sirius this weekend to Gilbert on Saturday and Sunday with lots of clips from Gilbert on the show (he was apparently a guest 122 times!)

Just watched the clip on their Facebook page and it wasn't bad. Howard seemed to be reading most of the tribute and never mentioned why Gilbert was never invited back. ( *I used to be a huge Stern fan that would have cassettes of the show mailed to me in California from a friend on the east coast.)

I'll give the entire segment a listen tonight. The best of the uncensored Gilbert stuff is on YouTube.

Look up 50 shades of grey read by Gilbert Gottfried. It will definitely make you squirm.

Stopped listening to Howard the second he started getting to political. There is that old warning to stay away from religion and politics. He pissed me off and I have not listened to him for 2 years. I do not want to take away from the real purpose of this thread which is to remember one of the greats. RIP Gilbert

The people telling us to stay away from those two subjects are the ones fucking us over and they don’t want us to be aware of it.

I’ve listened to Howard since the late 80s… he’s always talked about religion & politics & every other button-pushing topic. That’s how he built a career. What could he have possibly done 2 years ago to offend you?

    #66 2 years ago

I'll always remember him as the first comedian to crack a 9/11 joke on stage and of course that begins an Aristocrats joke. R.I.P.
    Condolences especially to his kids.

Look up his Cameo videos if you have time.

When Gilbert was on the Artie and Anthony show a couple years back, they all riffed off each other for an hour non-stop. Some of the funniest, crudest, offensive humor ever. Nothing was off limits.

    Link is definitely NSFW.

For those of you who don’t listen to Marc Maron’s WTF podcast, here’s a great interview he reposted from 2012. So much laughter from both of them. It’s really great.

Just seemed to shift very one-sided to me. Continually pandering and kissing ass. Came across as fake and forced. Ruined the entire show for me. It's the only channel purposely left out on all of my vehicles sirus accounts. I'm way more of a Joe Rogan kind of guy now. But to each their own.

Always remember his hosting usa up all night i believe sat nights (rhonda had fri nights i believe). I watched rhonda because well….but i watched him because he was perfect for commenting on b movies. Ill miss him.

I'm surprised it took this long for someone to mention USA Up All Night! In my teens, I stayed up until sunrise on many weekends watching those bad movies. Rhonda and Gilbert are legends.

I'd love to hear specifics. Pandering to who? Kissing who's ass? I think Howard has just grown up. He's almost 70 - you think he wants to keep throwing baloney at asses? It's less of a circus & more about interviews. He likes digging deep with guests and learning about their life and art. That being said - I did tune in last week & there was a whole bit about Debbie the Cumlady trying to unsuccessfully give High Pitch Erik a BJ over the course of many days...I mean - if that isn't old school crazy Stern show, I dunno what to tell ya. Honestly, I'm surprised he's still doing this...he could have easily retired and enjoyed a quiet life a decade or so ago. So - it's a nice treat to still tune in and hear the old gang I've been listening to since I was a kid.

I'm trying to think if that was my first exposure to Gilbert...I feel like he was just everywhere in the 80's. "Weird character" comics were such a thing back then...Judy Tenuda, Emo Phillips, Bobcat Goldthwait...Gilbert was "the king", though.

I am so regretting hiring him for a Cameo roast for one of my buddies. Some of his Cameo bits, especially the insults, almost made me vomit I was laughing so hard!

I think it’s just that he started to talk about a particular ex guest in a negative light that has drawn ire from one side of the aisle…

Howard used to relentlessly rag on GWB and that didn’t seem to bother anyone. Times have changed.

Another USA Up All Night alum here, was a staple of my high school years. I can still hear Gottfried's voice, "Now here's a movie where ..." Great stuff.

    #77 2 years ago

My film Vampire Vixens From Venus was on Up All Night and I think Gilbert is the host. I probably have a tape of it....who knows where!
