Just seen it on the news. R.I.P.

    #3 2 years ago

Temple of the dog, Audioslave, solo albums, and Soundgarden.

Soundgarden was an awesome band live.

    Absolute legend!

    Suicide in Detroit.. Sucks.

Where did you hear suicide? Sounds like a made up rumor.

    #11 2 years ago

Wow, some of he best concerts I've seen. RIP

    #12 2 years ago

I was lucky enough to see Chris 3 different times. My favorite show was in Nashville in 2007 and was the day that Carry On ( his second solo album) was released. It still is the best show vocally that I have ever been to. I'll never forget the crowd when everyone heard his version of Billy Jean for the first time.

Chris had an amazing voice that could be right at home in metal, grunge, pop, soul, blues, etc. If you want to hear something different google his performance of Ava Maria. Sad to see an amazing talent leave so young. It's hard to believe only Pearl Jam is left now.

It's mentioned as "possible" suicide in this story on WXYZ Detroit: http://www.wxyz.com/news/region/detroit/ap-rocker-chris-cornell-from-soundgarden-has-died-at-age-52-in-detroit

I don't think WXYZ explains why they think it could be a possible suicide. At any rate, it sucks. Cornell was an awesome talent.

I spent my college years learning every Soundgarden song on guitar possible while making my roomates' eardrums bleed.

Sad day for music. Just sad.

I'll never forget Lollapalooza '92: Soundgarden, Pearl Jam & RHCP

    #15 2 years ago

Wow, so sad to hear this. So many great songs by him over the years. Strangely I heard "Say hello to heaven" twice on the radio in the last few days.

    #16 2 years ago

    RIP Chris..

    #17 2 years ago

Rest in peace and thankful for all the great music you gave all of us while you were here.

    #18 2 years ago

RIP Chris. I will never forget your haunting rendition of Billy Jean.

    #20 2 years ago

Very sad. I always thought he was more talented than all of the other artists that came out of the grunge era.

    #21 2 years ago

I loved all of the 90s grunge bands... Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Soundgarden, etc. Round those out with the soundtrack from Singles and The Crow. Good times.

    RIP Chris

    #22 2 years ago

Soundgarden did one of the best covers ever...

    #23 2 years ago

Awful news. Got into Soundgarden in the late 80s, one of my favorite bands/ vocalists ever. Damn.

    #24 2 years ago

So sad. Spent a lot of high school listening to him. RIP

    #25 2 years ago

I was so bummed when I heard this.

Soundgarden was killer, they also made Road Rash (the CD versions) back in the day even more rad.

    Rest in Peace Chris.

    #26 2 years ago

Saw him in '96 one of the best concerts I attended ever... up there with Pink Floyd...this one hurts...

    #27 2 years ago

Saw Soundgarden open for GnR in 92. Killer show. Will be missed. Sadly they were supposed to be in Houston in just a few days....

    #28 2 years ago

If it was suicide they would have said it already, maybe the man was sick, either way Soundgarden was a great band and that guy had one of the best voices ever in music. Damn shame.

His personal assistant said "sudden and unexpected" death. Quite often, that's code.

Legendary. Singles & The Crow pretty much sum up my jr high days. Music is pretty much disposable trash these days unfortunately.

    #31 2 years ago

One of the best vocalists ever IMHO. So glad I had the opportunity to see him several times. RIP good man.

    #32 2 years ago

Chris Cornell probably has the best voice. Male best voice.

I was so impressed by slaves and bulldozers. Soundgarden was my band during that era. I liked nirvana and never mind but you would find soundgarden playing in my house regularly.

Rusty cage has complete new meaning now that I am disabled. I'm going to break my rusty cage.

I saw soundgarden when they headlined lolapalooza. The whole crowd chanted this song.

That is my last memory of Chris Cornell. Rip.

Code for overdose more then likely or heart failure from years of substance abuse struggles. It was pretty well known that he struggled off and on with prescription pill abuse from a very early age. That much drug abuse can do strange things to people though and take them to dark places. So who knows, anything is possible.

    #36 2 years ago

Shocked, Saddened 52 is far too young!

    #37 2 years ago

Damn. I was excited to see the Soundgarden tour this summer. What a voice. This is awful. RIP.

    #38 2 years ago

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK. WTH. Damn Chris....you killed it. No pun intended

    #39 2 years ago

Still in shock. Best way to kick drugs is never start. Fuckin A.

Terrible news - there's no doubt the man had one of the best voices the music biz has even known...

    RIP, Chris

    #42 2 years ago

This really sucks,Chris had an awesome voice! RIP

    #44 2 years ago

Terrible news. Absolutely surprised. Going to miss his amazing voice.

    #45 2 years ago

Very very sad ... Godspeed Chris Cornell

    #46 2 years ago

what's with the seattle suicide squad. Eddie V, better not go down this road.

I'm calling it now. I really don't think it was a suicide. Pieces don't add up.

    #47 2 years ago

Will be sadly missed by the fans. R.I.P Songman

    #48 2 years ago

What a talent he had. You will be missed greatly, so sad. RIP Chris.

    #49 2 years ago

Such a haunting voice. That man sang the soundtrack to my high school life. What a loss.

    #50 2 years ago

    Granted it's TMZ:
    http://www.tmz.com/2017/05/18/chris-cornell-suicide-death-wife/

    Snippet:

"Vicky told people Thursday morning he was devoted to his kids -- ages 16, 12 and 11 -- and she didn't believe he would take his life.
That said, law enforcement says Chris' death is an apparent suicide, which raises the question about whether he'd fallen off the wagon."
