Saw them in 89 at RFK in DC and Living Colour definitely opened. Just happened to be driving Detroit to Norfolk overnight and passing thru DC at 6am and radio announcement says Stones tickets today at 10, thinking 'why the fuck not', I pull off highway and ask some old man out for his early walk where the closest mall is. Got some vague directions and I was off!
Get in line, shit, line aint moving and I'm about 100th in line. First show sells out. Damn. Couple of dudes roll up and they are fanning out their freshly printed tickets and say 'you guys are dumb, there is a ticketmaster at a little record store down the road nobody knows about' Dude in line says he knows where it is - we jump into his car and race there. No line! limit of 6 tickets so I make my purchase then step back and immediately purchase 6 more.
Moral of the story? There is none. But getting concert tickets before the internet was always an adventure
