I've done multiple pf swaps and by no means am I an pinball tech expert. PF swaps are all about free time and patience. If you have those, I say go for it yourself. Buy new star plastics, roll over lane guides, extra posts (some will break when removing), nuts, T-nuts, screws, etc... For 20 bucks at a gun shop you can buy a vibrating polisher to clean the metal parts, it's worth it.
I've also done a CPR cyclone pf swap. I didn't re-clear it. That will double the cost and unless you want a museum piece it's not necessary IMO.
