    Quoted from sevenrites:

WTF does Rick do for pinball anyway? Nothing positive that I can see. Just buy the rights and hoard it all so nobody can get what they need, then sue them if they try. What a douche move. They could have done something awesome but instead they just took it all away.

Wow I'm usually on the "against Rick" side here as I think he aggressively threatens too many projects that are simply not costing him money. But in this case, I think a site blatantly selling scanned decals is in the wrong. And Rick (PPS) actually does a ton for us in the way of having a lot of parts available that would otherwise not be. I'd never try to argue that he is worthless. He is also providing a valuable service.

    Quoted from PPS:

Well, as always it's far far more complicated that pinside would like to understand, and way too complicated to somehow capture in a post, but I'm always open and available (about 24x7) to discuss by phone (which has not changed 408-891-7878) ... but usually when I offer my time to discuss I don't get any or many takers ... i wonder why that is ...

Probably because most people find phone calls to be a huge pain in the ass.

    Quoted from robotron911:

I've dealt with licensing before on products that involved dealing with someone who held a license from another party ... I have never had a situation where both parties - content originator and the party they licensed the content to - (in this case, WMS/SGI and PPS) BOTH asked for royalties.

Those aren't the two parties he was referring to. Instead it would be PPS as party 1 and the movie studio or such (universal for monster bash, etc) as party 2. WMS gets paid still but from PPS as per their agreement.

    Quoted from pezpunk:

eh, i like And Justice For All, but i think we agree nothing productive came from them beyond that point.

I love the black album. And I hate justice. The mixing on justice is some of the worst in music history. It might be good if they say re-record the bass and play it at an actual decent level. Justice sounds terrible on any sound system.

The black album style at least retains Metallica style rhythm guitars. Sad but true is one of the heaviest slower songs I've ever head and the mixing on the black album is very good. I don't think metallica was ruined until after this.
