I've talked to Rick a few times about this stuff at Expo. I believe PPS has proper licenses - for B&W logos, art and other B&W property. There are legal reasons to actively monitor and protect those things included under the license - which is why you see C&D letters - its a part of keeping your rights under the license contract. The licensee has to show "active" defense, which means doing something to alert anyone who is using those licensed items. The contract also probably leaves discretion to PPS as to what reproduction for a home user, who has the game, but doesn't intend to manufacture for others - is that one for you, and help a few friends who also have the game and need a decal or other home brew part or art. So the line to cross of home use v. commercial use of license, is probably fuzzy.

Of course not, I've already done more to help deliver messages from karma against that POS on behalf of the many who were ripped off than you have, I'm sure. But we're not allowed to discuss those things on here.
PPS dropped the ball getting parts to people in need so others stepped in, if PPS doesn't like it they need to make the parts themselves. MAD flat out rips people off. There's a big difference.

I was not talking about the contract wording, but what case law would prescribe if you went to court over it.

Good for me to. Chronic right foot pain. Thought I had to wait 6+ months, now just over a month to see a specialist under our medical care. I do have a private plan also for medical, dental, drug, & eye glass.

Consider yourself lucky, I've been off work since Sept 1st and had to suggest to doctors what tests to do. Id rather pay anyday, its total bullshit. Kinda like telling people you own things you don't.

I did ask to close this topic but it turns out everyone here is still waiting for answers and the Pinside mods agreed it should be left open, so I guess it's down to Rick/PPS to put an ending on this thing.

It seems that Rick is too afraid to come in here and face the music and set the record straight. Perhaps he doesn't have as solid of a leg to stand on as he would like everyone to believe.
Agreed -- everything in this thread seems to be FUD by PPS. Broad claims and lawyer posts, but no documented proof. I assume those are not posted unless someone goes to court where evidence must be presented. In the meanwhile, very entertaining and somewhat informative thread.

Playing devil's advocate, and I can't extrapolate as to the other companies, but if the online claims that PPS doesn't have a valid license for the Bally brand name at least are accurate then what exactly did he purchase from Ballypinball in Australia besides inventory?
