Quoted from donkadelic:

You guys are about to experience the power of the Silicon Valley/Bitcoin Rick & Morty fan. 120$ szechuan sauces for days... This thing isn't gonna sell out because of pinball fans, it'll sell out because of them.

Thanks Noob-Noob! This guy gets it.

Call me crazy but on this game I plan to avoid all streams. I don't want one single joke or callout spoiled for me!

Quoted from Mitch:

Then you probably should Drain this thread.

Well, the streams aren't going to be playing embedded in the thread I'm still excited to see the progress, games shipping, unboxing etc.

#9642 4 years ago
Quoted from TigerLaw:

Gosh, I am doing my best not to watch the video, I want everything to be new the first time I play it...but this is going to be hard!

I am avoiding streams too, but this was only 15 minutes...and from the look of it there is a LOT more content in the game left to uncover.

#9652 4 years ago

I was going to say "92."

Seriously what's the point of a question like that

#10057 4 years ago
Quoted from HEAD_boss_HOG:

I just watched the SMB show on the Adult Swim web channel. Interesting and Revelatory to say the least. Lets just say that THEME is the ONLY reason the game will fetch 7k or 8k, depending on whatever optioned out version any customer will buy of this game. If this were a non licensed theme (ie America's Most Haunted), this game would NEVER sell 200 units, let alone 750 in 4 hours before a full reveal. I suppose this is old news, but actually seeing the game in action is today's topic, so.........
This game is cool because of theme and integration ONLY. Why? Ask yourself "What does this game have to offer on the playfield which is valuable, unique, or engaging and interactive to the player?"
1. a pop bumper sling shot: Cool idea, but far from original, novel, or significant value added to the game
2. Magna Save: again, a cool idea, but NOTHING new
3. Single Subway (garage to portal eject over left flipper): another cool idea, but NOT new
4. two ramps (plastic, if i remember correctly). the ramps do very little "traveling" or curving, so its kind of Gomez-like in the return to flipper.
5. three flippers (extra 45 bucks for the third flipper, if not less)
6. space ship toy (Kerins said that this was "off the shelf", meaning it was not new for this game, which makes it significantly cheaper than designing and manufacturing a new specific toy for this game only). The toy is on a SPRING (See SW)
7. Horseshoe lock mech. THIS is the thing which seems sort of novel, but certainly not a significant addition mechanically, aesthetically, or otherwise. I will say that the physical lock is pretty dang cool, and I'm glad they got it working well.
8. Scoop in the MIDDLE of the PF. another awkward position for a scoop, like TNA
Considering the foregoing, it is readily apparent that the playfield design is neither exciting, nor novel. There is nothing unique, unconventional, or otherwise ground braking about the design, ball path, or mechs in this game, to say nothing about the true value of any part of it or the sum of its parts. I am disappointed in the layout, and the lack of real mechs or interactive toys on this game. Scott Danesi came on this forum and explained that he wasn't worried about the lack of toys on the game because Modders would come out with stuff we could buy. I respect his honesty, but that does not excuse Spooky from being willfully cheap and refusing to implement creative and value adding mechanical devices to the game. Danesi went on to brag about having 16 opto switches in the game. WOWEEEEE!!! SWITCHES!!!!! that's what we all want more of to make our experience so much more enjoyable!!!! (sarcasm) Why not just include a bag of opto switches for us to play with when we cant be home to play our pinball games?
I really love this show, so i was hoping for more. I am bummed. I have heard it over and over that this playfield is conventional and uninspired, not to mention bereft of any real mechanical, interactive devices to affect gameplay and the ball path. I really wanted this to be Spooky's STEP UP in game design. It is not. It is, however, a fantastic theme integration that they have done. I can't wait to see the screen and hear the callouts. But, we all know, we can just buy seasons one through four to see the show and hear Rick's banter. we don't need to spend 8000 dollars to see the show and hear Rick scream at Morty.
I will hand it to spooky for getting this awesome license, but alas, perhaps the license was too expensive to allow them to really give the customers a robust playfield with more to do and engage.
I don't mean to be a thorn in this thread; i just wanted to share my true reaction. I think any buyer will be thrilled to have this game for their own reasons. My reasons for buying a pinball are at least 65-75% layout and design, which includes what I have discussed is missing in this game. The remainder is a hodge podge of art, theme, and sound. I hope the future owners of this game have a great experience from what the game has to offer. I just know that unless that Playfield gets an overhaul, I am not going to be owning one any time soon.
Best Regards,
The one and only BOSS HOG

It's as inevitable as the tides...when a pin goes from "imaginary perfection in my mind" to "actual pinball machine" the pinside hivemind starts tearing it apart, looking for some small issue to hyper-inflate and rally negative sentiment around.

I for one am more excited than ever, as they appear to have done a really great job with everything.

Quoted from MikeS:

I think we owe it to Scott Danesi to at least play the game before calling the layout uninspired.

That's crazy talk!!

If pinside has taught me anything, all it takes is a 2 minute cellphone video to completely assess how fun/makeable shots are, regardless of the skill of the person on the video playing.

What kind of world are you proposing where people actually play the game and decide for themselves how the shots feel? Are you mad??

Quoted from garretswinning:

I still have 5 of the schezuan sauces in the fridge. Been in there since that short realease. Might have to crack one open when my machine comes for shits n giggles.

I had a stash of them, over a dozen...my wife threw them out not realizing they were special.

#10382 4 years ago
Quoted from pinballlife:

I've played dozens of games on this machine.
The easiest shot is the right ramp, the second easiest shot is the orbit shot from the upper flipper.
All of this "Is the upper orbit shot easy/reliable?" talk will vanish when machines start shipping.

This is Pinside, where watching 5 mins of footage permanently forms opinions!

I still shake my head at the RAZA fiasco. Pinside armchair quarterbacks so sure the ramp shot is "unmakeable" and "a problem."
Having actually played the game myself, it's fine and fun. I have no doubt Rick and Morty will be also.

I truly wonder why Pinside seems to love finding flaws and exaggerating their importance.

Quoted from SpookyKT:

What you are not taking into account is that the build number did not & will not match up in sequence. We will always have to build out of order to work in the butter cabinets when they are ready so they don't sit around the shop with the chance of them getting damaged. You are also not taking in the fact that we build container games all at the same time regardless of their numbers. If I have 20 games going to OZ then I build all 20 at once no matter what the numbers are. Therefore the build numbers WILL NEVER go in a true numerical order. That is why the few boards ---WAY less then a 100 are all over the map in game numbers.

Wait, WHAT? Lower number doesn’t mean earlier receipt? We need a way to know our place in line.

EDIT: Why the downvotes? I’m not hating here, just surprised as I’ve been under the assumption that order number is (roughly) place in line. Was I alone in that assumption?

#10839 4 years ago
Quoted from SpookyKT:

No it just means if I have 20 games going to OZ ie 8, 73, 109, 210, 300 etc those numbers will ALL be built at the same time so they can go in a container all at once & not sit here doing nothing for months.
If we get a batch of butters in ---10 cabinets & the numbers that need them are 5,12,21,34,43,51, 60 then they will all get built at the same time. They will get mixed in with whatever numbers run we are doing. So if we are doing 50-80 they will get mixed in with that bunch.

Well that makes sense, building in batches. I’ve been making a rough assumption on my delivery based on number / 10 = weeks out. Now I guess I just wait and get surprised.

Quoted from manadams:

While props go out to Spooky for upgrading the rubbers to silicone on their games, they just are too bouncy to have any kind of reasonable control. I suggest at least changing out the flipper rubbers to regular rubber, ACNC and R&M are difficult enough on their own with some tight shots and extra bouncy silicone is just over the top IMO.

See, I find the opposite. To me, regular rubber has a lot more bouce than silicone.

The check is in the mail brother!

Quoted from jonesjb:

Agree. Everything you’ve said is pretty spot on. Very good point, I guess there really would be no point in ‘hoping’ to get a pin via Spooky’s waitlist.

Never happen for sure, Spooky deposits are nonrefundable so why would anyone cancel? They will all sell their spot, even for a loss, rather than walk away from it.

Quoted from j_m_:

[begin soapbox rant]
for one thing, people seem to need a PSA on how to wear a mask. I still see way too many people wearing them not covering their nose or as a "chin diaper" (which is the same thing as not wearing one at all

THIS. Man that drives me crazy.
