Never bought a NIB... I want to see this.

#662 10 months ago

I just hope this brings more people to pinball and advances the hobby.

Quoted from tbutler6:

Was this already covered...
For those that saw the tiny piece of the playfield with the blue pop bumber bases..
Looks like maybe full UV reactive paint colors to me on the light colored playfield...?[quoted image]

It looks like there will be a 2x playfield multiplier too... End of Ball Bonus confirmed!!!

#1984 10 months ago

Okay... so if I bought into the Rick and Morty hype and bought one... how does this work? Do you pay in full and get the game in 6 months? Do you pay a deposit and pay the rest when your game is ready? What's the deal?

#2001 10 months ago

Damn it... may have to put down a deposit when they open. This may be my first NIB pin... I'd have to see one first though! If you are telling me I can hang on to my old pins... pay a $1,000 deposit... wait 4 months, get asked for the rest when it's ready to leave the door, sell a pin (say White Water) to raise the rest, pay and get my new pin... this sounds awesome. I'm gonna have to find a TNA and polish up on my Danesi style.

#2044 10 months ago

From the very little we have to work off of... this was from the shop in the Haunted House Party thread before being revealed as Rick and Morty... Is that a full screen LCD I see in the reflection of the glasses? Any other hints here?

What is the standard spooky warranty?

#2171 10 months ago

Okay... joined the Fang Club yesterday in case Spooky knocks it out of the park and I make this my first NIB. Is there a special portion of their site only open to Fang Club members? Other than an order confirmation I have not gotten anything from them. How do I access the early ordering access (when it opens) with my fang club membership? I won't do this, but if I were to order an Alice Cooper Nightmare Castle Blood Suckers Edition, how would I do that through my Fang Club membership since BS editions are exclusive to the Fang Club?

#2174 10 months ago
Quoted from Spelunk71:

Check out the key posts in the thread. It’s all there.

Okay, if I'm reading the key posts correctly, I'll get some goodies in the mail next month and will get an email announcing preorders for spooky fang club members are open at some point in time.

#2197 10 months ago

Will there be a video mode(s)? If so, what do you think they will be? Do other Spooky games have them?

#2235 10 months ago

How much do you think they'd charge for factory sideblade art? That's the only upgrade I'd really be interested in... that and maybe the BS armor.

#2240 10 months ago

I'm not a huge Buttercab fan, but other than the BS edition goodies, I think the Buttercab package is the only accessory that is a factory exclusive. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

#2246 10 months ago

I wonder if there is enough in the budget for a single television commercial during a live airing. Would push demand over the top... That reveal audio is 26 seconds long... it would fit in a single commercial spot... maybe it could go hand in hand with a 30 second clip of the actual game...

Has there ever been an actual television commercial for a pinball machine? I know Williams used to send out promotional videos.

#2344 10 months ago

Rick and Morty mid season finale is tomorrow. Im guessing we get more next week.

#2360 10 months ago
Quoted from Shapeshifter:

It's still a high number but it's a great licence.
750 is spot on to lock in deposits.
If Spooky had said 1000 way more people would just sit back and wait.
Compare to JJP where LE's and CE's mean very little and never great the sense of FOMO.

According to pinside there are more than twice as many Pirates LEs than SEs.

#2420 10 months ago

#2614 10 months ago

Got my email! Joined Thursday. Can't wait.

#2906 10 months ago
Quoted from Makakka:

Well as a fang member you should be able to log in and shop RM today regardless of that mail. That mail is not neededyou just need your fang pin as your signature for the order.

How do we know what our fang pin is?

#2930 10 months ago

I count 15 shots. Love the clear rubbers and the pop near the flippers. More room to play without traditional pops. If I end up with one I will have to add lots of playfield figurines. I love the corny modding options. I hope this is full size. Digging the purple.

75% ordered so far are BSE editions… if Spooky sells out (and it seems likely... and within the hour) then you won’t be receiving a standard edition pin until 2021. Based off of the limited into we have, if it goes Spooky month 1 /Distributor month 2 /Spooky month 3 /Distributor month four, it would seem that if you ordered a BSE and your number is 1790-1855 you can expect yours in late January/Early February, if your number is 1856-1920, you can expect yours in March/April, if your number is 1921-1985, you can expect it in May/June, and after that you can do the math. Congratulations to Spooky! These are only guesses, and take official word from Spooky.

#3350 10 months ago
Quoted from Spiderpin:

I had one in my cart and was going to buy it if I couldn't get the R&M BSE

I would assume they would have to shut down production of those if they are going full Rick and Morty... I wonder how many of those actually sold?

#3352 10 months ago

I wonder what the Rick and Morty core fanbase will do when word of this gets out... I don't think they really marketed at all to that community.

#3377 10 months ago
Quoted from Oaken:

100% sold in 1-1.5 hrs...I think their marketing strategy was just fine as is.

Still available on their site.

#3403 10 months ago

What do you think... stronger second hand market for Rick and Morty or Supreme?

#3424 10 months ago
Quoted from TheGunnett:

I wonder how many people ordered who weren’t in the fang club and if they’ll lose their spot or be offered the ability to pay the $45 to keep it. They said honesty was the only thing stopping no. Fang club members from ordering.

They'd have to know the direct link. You can't link to it through the site.

#3434 10 months ago
Quoted from CrazyLevi:

Supreme sold out in 10 seconds.
You can still get in under the wire on a R&M.
I'm pretty sure R&M is gonna be more fun to play though.

I think we can all agree on that one.

#3441 10 months ago

Standards sold out on the Spooky website.

BS2 (resized).PNG
#3464 10 months ago
Quoted from Russell:

How many of the 750 are going to be BSE?

As many as are ordered... from what I can tell and people have posted here... about 80%.

#3491 10 months ago
Quoted from nogoodnames222:

I wasn't a fan of the purple powdercoat and was not expecting so many people to go for the BSE. Now I'm concerned I may not get a game at all, if they just keep selling BSE's and those sales push standards off the list...

I am not Spooky, but I don't think additional sales would push you off the list... it just means that your game manufacturing date would be pushed back... they will still only sell 750, and your deposit is in so you're good.

#3797 10 months ago

Here is the real question... 2019 TWIPY or 2020 TWIPY game of the year... maybe someone should play it first. Now that they are all sold out let the hype begin! Who is going to tell the Rick and Morty fanbase?

#3830 10 months ago
Quoted from SpookyLuke:

Short answer is we dont know what the special first day purchase prize included is but 750 people will get it lol....

I would suggest a super limited edition sales flyer. I'd frame one if I got one but there is no need to print any now... Congratulations!

Quoted from monkfe:

...well we are running out of thing to talk about...and that CPA stuff put me to sleep

Okay... there is a puchcard for 10 Morty's... presumably complete 10 modes to finish. Will there be more than 10 modes with a random set of modes for every game? Will there be any custom animations? Will there be Co-op? What will the first mod be? Will any R&M fans pitch a fit over this? What will be the first pinball show where a distributor brings one? Are any of these going on location?

#3946 10 months ago

#4388 10 months ago

Okay... as there are a lot of people on here that have never seen, or heard of Rick and Morty... what is the one episode you would use to introduce them to the show for an overview. Surely not the pilot. I'd vote pickle rick episode but what would you guys say?

#4493 10 months ago
Quoted from Vitty:

Anyone get notified of their position in the build queue yet?

Nope, but if your ordered a BSE from Spooky your delivery date should be something like: months to delivery = (Order confirmation number - 1790) all divided by 21. So... if my number is 1886, I take 1886-1790 and then divide by 21 and get 4.5 months... so I should get mine mid April... WOOT!

This assumes 600 BSE's to get built first based off of 80% going BSE. All BSE should be built by February 2021 using the same logic. 1790 is the earliest confirmed BSE order.1/2 of machines are set aside for distributors and they are going 50% to distributors as they are built. 300/14=21 so 21 machines should go to those who ordered direct from Spooky every month.

#4538 10 months ago

So... the light show is awesome... but what about playfield lighting? Do you guys think this will need a few spotlights or will this be good as is?

#4759 10 months ago

So... you have the ball cradled on the right flipper and want to shoot the right orbit (which you can't hit from that flipper). How do you get the ball to the left flipper? Would a post pass work on this machine?

Just got my number... 373! I was order 1886 on the site. Got my note via email.

Here is the full message.

Hello Pinball People!

Above you should find the build number of your Spooky Pinball Rick and Morty machine. To avoid confusion I know a lot of you already believe you can predict your number based on the order number online. Here is a list explaining the factors that predict your number:

1. We allow 375 of our 750 games to distributors. These games are preloaded into the list evenly across the full 750 spots.

2. We do that because many of our customers prefer to buy through their distributor who they have long standing relationships with. Would not be fair to build all spooky direct games first because that would essentially cut our distributors business. All customers have an even chance of an early number this way no matter how they buy.

3. Cartoon network has team games as well as spooky these will have to be built early obviously due to contractual requirements with licensing and suppliers.

4. The remaining spots purchased from our website are layered in starting at #1 so yes you have a real chance of acquiring early places in line when you order direct!

Approximately 3 weeks before your game goes on the line you will get an email from the girls asking to choose any add on items you may want for your game. Direct print cabinet, knocker, shaker, plastic protectors etc... we will not take orders for those at this time because it causes to much confusion and time for people to change their mind.

We build 10 games per week here and begin production the Monday after the holidays so you can roughly predict your game completion date that way obviously leave room for our workers days off and supply issues in your prediction. Production here will be 100% dedicated to Rick and Morty continuously until it is done with all Blood Suckers games being built before any standards.

Name redacted.

Let the record state that I was wrong. Still excited to be at 374. Spooky is knocking it out of the park! Just means Ill have to rotate my existing pins while I wait. Maybe a TNA. I expect the demand for existing Spooky games to splike right about now. These R and M threads are worth the price of entry already. Ill be ready to sell a pin to fund R and M when I get the call. Thanks team Spooky!

While we are all eagerly awaiting our new toys... take a look at their production facility.

Also notice in the below photo there seems to be a garage view to show you the status of your game. Is that a Meeseeks box?

Trade me spots and I'll bring the game to Zapcon in late April. If the timeline doesn't work then you keep the earlier game. All 3 of the other spooky games I got arrived 2-3 months too late to bring to that years Zapcon.

Well, my dumb ass is publically committing to bringing it to the first pinball show after I get mine. As I'm #374, I am shooting for York.

Quoted from Rarehero:

LOL, eh? Stern has remade some games as Vault Editions, so people speculate that anything could be remade at anytime, hence 8 years of Tron Vault threads. Without that looming, Trons might be even more expensive. Spooky isn’t going to re-run games, that factors into a game’s aftermarket value.

Agreed. Im really looking forward to this game. I have never bought a NIB pin before and I am willing to bet the percentage of first time... maybe only time NIB buyers on this pin is high. I like the idea of Spooky not remaking these and making the ones out there something special. Dream theme, dream designer, dream manufacturer.

#6276 10 months ago
Quoted from Rarehero:

Oh yeah, I’m not saying they’s just a bunch of people think they will. The NIB Newbs for some reason don’t want to buy used while they could have been enjoying LOTR or Tron for years, they’d rather just sit there wishing for new ones again, even though there’s no guarantee...but since Stern’s done it a few times, that means it could theoretically happen. Spooky doesn’t have that theoretical looming over their games.

I think they have and will remake TNA down the line, but that along with AMH are the only games with licenses that are theirs ( or Danesis).

I'm thankful for a couple of things: First, that I'm getting one of these games. Second, that the game made me take a second look at the show. It's hilarious and I didn't get it by just watching the pilot.
I really hope the slut dragons make it in That wizard yelling "slut" over and over had me in tears.

I second this. I actually bought the show for a second watch through, just finished season 1, and have been enjoying it immensely. Eventually I'll get up to season 4. From what I remember, season 1 was the worst season, and so far it's hilarious so it's only gets better from here.

#6727 9 months ago

Anybody get their Fang Club goodies yet? I understand it will likely be a while but wanted to know if people who joined the club earlier gotten their goodies and what they were.

#6836 9 months ago

So... when all is said and done I'll be looking at $7970 plus shipping for my BSE with all options except Butter, Coin Box, and Bill acceptor.

If you picked up every option you'd run $9,059.

If you picked up a plain standard you'd run $6995.

So, total price runs just shy of the street price of a Stern Premium to just under the street price of a Stern LE.

I had never noticed the Spooky logo in the purple trim there. Awesome... just 9(ish) more months!

#7334 9 months ago
Quoted from SpookyCharlie:

There is a 0% chance of us handling all of this perfectly and making everyone thrilled with how it all went. If we bump (and in some cases, we absolutely did) existing locations, shows, media, early game testers, etc etc that are getting games in public and where they need to be to help get people playing and driving sales... instead to fill "first come first served" ideals, it doesn't help keep a business flowing IF sales are "normal".
Granted, we had no idea we'd sell out as fast as we did, so in this one game launch instance, it changed everything we thought was planned well. We still did the best we could.
Chris called his game purchase in to Spooky RIGHT AS SALES LAUNCHED... did he get a little bit of a boost from Spooky as being part of the "media group"? Yep. Did distributors follow exact protocol in every way or take sales before / after / during launch? No idea... they have their loyal customers they want to help I'm sure and we have no real way or desire to try and police it all.
Yes, we are learning from all this and paying attention.
But at the end of the day... if you're getting what is now an extremely limited and very in demand expensive toy and the ONLY question / complaint is WHEN... CONGRATULATIONS!!! You have absolutely won at life.
Back to work here... SOOOOO much goodness coming everyone!!! Both on Rick and Morty, and Alice Cooper. VERY SOON!!!

Can't please everyone. Thanks for making pinball happen. Looking forward to our games and our Fang Club goodies!

Time Released Code Updates Confirmed!

New content from future seasons to drop in from time to time!

Scott: “As for expandable content and stuff that we’re planning on in the future – we are planning on releasing time released code updates for this thing. So like as new things happen in the season, we’re going to be releasing new little chunks every once in a while. We’re going to be around to support it. Erik [Priepke] is an amazing programmer, Bowen [Kerins] is an awesome rules designer, so we’re going to keep going with this…they’re not going to give up on it.

The time released stuff I’m really excited about, because as new seasons come on-line we’ll be able to get stuff from Cartoon Network we’ll be able to put it in the machine. Erik has built the framework so that it’s a lot easier to implement that stuff.

It’s not going to be a “keep up with the show” thing, but it’s going to be like if something really significant happens.. a cult following happens around space snakes or something. The next pickle rick happens, that obviously has to be put into the machine, because then otherwise you end with something like South Park where you end up just locked in to the first season, you know?”

I don't want to be Mr. Poopy Butthole here but might temper those expectations, there's been 1 major code update on Alice Cooper in basically 10 months. I don't think we can expect code roll outs every couple of months. Here's to hoping it is more frequent though.

True, but I'm guessing it is easier to drop in a few animations from a show that is being produced independently than it would be to drop in new custom animations or game code. I'd be thrilled if there were 2 minutes of new clips mixed in per year. Heck, I'd be thrilled if it shipped with base code and never changed too. Just the idea that this is possible blows my mind. My Whirlwind has been running on the same code for 30 years now!

Thank you RS-Pinball in Austria. A little german boy is smiling without end.
Now I have to wait a very long time.
That is ok for me. I think I will get every mod out there, before my pin arrives in good old bavaria/franconia.

Just out of curiosity... your pinball machine is going to be made in the central United States, get strapped to a shipping container, brought to a boat on the coast, put on a boat to Australia, travel the Pacific to Australia, get off the boat and brought to a warehouse, leave the container and get put in another container, get back in a truck, go to a port, get on a boat, go all the way around Africa, get off the boat somewhere in France, get on a truck and go to a warehouse in Germany, then get delivered to your place...

That is a long run on sentence but it sounds like quite a trip!

I'm happy to give you all something to talk and downvote about today. God knows we aren't seeing anything game related for months and most won't be getting a game until next year.
You're welcome!
Let's see pics of those posters framed and hung now!

Honestly, I'm fine if I don't get my game until next year (I'm 374). Don't get me wrong, I want one tomorrow, but the only skin I have in the game right now is a $1,500 deposit. I can still have fun and trade pins around until I get the call. The wait just gives me time to explore a Taxi and High Speed while I wait and tune those flipper fingers.

Danesi says you can always make a game easier with software, but can only make it harder physically.

Danesi says it is designed as a hard game that will be balanced out with software so it sounds like an expert player or a beginner would both have fun on it.

Physical design was 2 years (part time work).

Danesi doesn't know the gameplay video release date, still working software and approvals. "Charlie wants the code further to what customers receive before releasing a video".

#8691 9 months ago

Danesi says he saw a video of the working topper. It has lights and movement and looks cool. Sounded like we might get to see a video of the topper fairly soon, I would guess before we saw gameplay.

He says the Rick and Morty teaser video has the main theme with the Danesi remix and that Cartoon Network has already approved it.

#8977 8 months ago

Every interview with Bowen or Danesi about this game mentions how you can make a game easier with software but you can't make it harder without adjusting the playfield. I am under the impression that this game can be set up Bram Stoker Dracula with outlane posts completely removed with the legs bolted to the floor and all ceramic balls hard. Will this be the hardest game ever with a tournament setup?

Even easier, for those of us with a height issue we could still use the existing bracket. We'd just drill a new lower hole in the existing bracket where the motor and disc are mounted.
Judging by the posted pics, looks like you might have an inch or two of space to go lower.
For people who need even lower than that, they could just print out a new portal disc decal and put it on a piece of clear plastic that is smaller in diameter.

Just take the legs off... problem solved!

I agree the Rick and Morty Superbowl ad didn't hurt this game at all but didn't help either unless Spooky plans to announce another 250 games. I'll make a superbowl prediction... an announcement will happen at some point 250 more games.
What is the line on that? 2 1/2 to 1 maybe?

If there is one think Spooky could do to piss off their fanbase and ensure mediocre sales in the future it would be to increase the production run on these games after pinky promising they wouldn't. The day one sellout was in large part due to Fear of Missing Out and Spooky's solid track record. It is what got me to make R&M my first NIB purchase. Spooky has far more to gain from making their game's limited and sought after than they do from cashing out short term on this.

Only got to watch the first 4 minutes in the car before darting into work after lunch.

1. The sound on this is amazing. The bass is deep, the beats rocks, and I love it. Way to go Danesi on the sound!
2. Only got to see 1 mode, Whirly Dirly. Even though there is maybe 10 seconds of animation the asset usage rocks.
3. I'm hypnotized by the light show.
4. It looks like the difficulty rumors are overblown, I saw a timer save on the pop bumper drain which I'm sure can me turned off for the sadists.

Looks amazing and I can't wait to get my hands on mine. Should print money for operators.

Also... streaming reveal on cable television tomorrow at 5?

#9621 8 months ago

Finally got to watch. There is full LED lighting everywhere... to include the GI! Did anyone else notice the sling and pop bumper were "shots" that had to be made during one of the modes? They turned purple like targets. Brilliant!

#9754 8 months ago

So, I was under the impression the machine would be streaming on Cartoon Network today at 5 from that video. Unheard of, but I seem to have been mistaken. "Stupid Morning Bullshit" seems to be an online streaming show on adult swim. Episodes seem to be about an hour. Link below.

Looking forward to my game and congrats again spooky.

So that reveal stream on Cartoon Network was terrible by pinball people standards, but fantastic from "advancing the hobby" standards. That was not geared towards us, but it did get pinball back out in front of a new younger audience, however small. I even heard shoutouts to pinside and for figuring out where pins were on location! Can't hurt the operators. I'm sure we will get a pinside oriented stream sometime in the next few weeks. Way to go Spooky for getting pinball out in front of more people and doing a service to operators everywhere. The pinball machine looked good too!

Standard deposit was $1000 if I'm not mistaken.

#10469 8 months ago

A Rick and Morty Pre-Order spot... for a standard... just sold for $3,550. That would bring the total price, for the machine to be delivered in 2021, to $9,545 plus tax and shipping and whatever accessories they buy. $10k by Christmas may be an understatement.

My Rick and Morty Pinball Adventure
Traveled from NE PA to Williamsburg Brooklyn to play Rick and Morty on Saturday.
Stopped half way into work for the Pinburgh F5 championships. Victory!
Hit the gas hard (100mph-oops) to catch the 12:23 train out of Morristown NJ.
One diner burger and subway ride later, i arrived at Jackbar NYC.
Jackbar has amassed a pinball collection to rival almost any available alternative (move over sunshine!) and has quickly become my preferred place to play in the area. Great beer and drink selection and playing pinball is comfortable. The freshly shopped Rollergames plays fantastic. The owner is the day bartender and pinball tech.
"Hi Jon , hit me up with a Sweetwater 420 and a pile of ONES, it's time to jump dimensions and get into some RICK AND MORTY PINBALL MUTHA-F*CKERS! " <embellished for effect>
**DISCLAIMER -this is a review of one game on location, I assume set up to play tough (steep) , providing fun in conjunction with great challenge to the best players in NYC who play in tournaments (at jackbar) or frequent this establishment. This review is specific to one machine, played multiple times (20+) over the course of the day and night.**
I played games mostly in 4 player groups and a couple solo.
Rick and Morty Bloodsucker #26
Plunge :
Plunge is important on this game. Specifically because of the current value of the Super Skill shot (400k) . For the first couple of games that i played , anybody who got 3 super-skill shots would have easily won the game. Seemingly, a score imbalance ; unless players were able to get a mode or multi-ball started. Some plunges, including auto-plunges, go around into the "turnaround shot" (next to right ramp) and SDTM. "F*ck" . The rare "plunge into a SDTM , followed by auto-plunge SDTM" is possible. With a tight tilt, you could carefully nudge your way out , but you learn the hard way and beginners aren't going to know any better.
I hit plenty of of super skill shots and they didn't seem all that difficult if you could get enough power on the shot. I don't remember hitting the target on the left ramp (cant remember the name of target) or intentionally going for it on the plunge. When super-skill was not active , i was going for the spinner loop , which appeared rejecty (it's word now!) at first ; but proved to be a nice quick flow shot when shot correctly. Repeating spinner loops , eh, not much of that.
Now that the excitement of the plunge has been exhausted lets move onto ...
The plunge basically forces initial gameplay into a situation which puts your chances of survival into immediate peril. The dreaded side-to-side ball action ... friend only to hungry drains, a hyper-sling, and the maniacally placed, "in-your-face" pop bumper . At least you have SLAM SAVE. Getting a ball under control was a chore in itself. Everything was functioning properly on the game. A lot of flailing to start, followed by some quick drains, was not all that uncommon to see. This is a game where you have to learn your shots and also learn how to deal with where the game is sending the ball when you are out of control. Focusing on magna-save (and the mere existence of it) early is advised .
Light shows are awesome as usual.
The ship toy is fairly impressive in person . The shaking is cool and the 2 shadows of Rick and Morty are awesome.
Topper is really cool too. It spins and lights when portal is ready. Can't really see the front when the back lights are going off is the only complaint.
Okay , so you finally get control ...what do you shoot?
Left Flipper - it's the place you want to be. Oh , lets see , one could shoot ...
1. Backhand to left drop target or u-turn or lock - triple threat
2. Center Scoop- (can be lit for a mode or multiball or mystery) for some reason i kept screaming for ROBOCOP! (it's in there)
3. Right drop target or u-turn or lock (mode shot or meeseeks / mega seed)
4. The often-ignored FLOOBLE CRANK (lights locks and cranks the magna save battery)
5. Right Ramp - feeds right flipper(lights modes)
6. Right u-turn loop (mode shot or meeseeks / mega seed)
7. Right loop, u-turn / back door garage shot (mode shot or meeseeks / mega seed)
8. Megaseeds - add meeseeks
9-13. Backhand the pop bumper, shatz right inlane (slam letter, future mode shots?), roll up the flipper backhand hit Jerry , Summer or Beth targets.
With this design crew , i am not so sure these shots are as crazy as they sound .
Right Flipper - not the worst place to be
1. Backhand right ramp - feeds right flipper (didn't seem possible on this one - steep) (lite mode at scoop, mode shot or meeseeks / mega seed)
2. Flooble! Crank it up! (wrong game) (lights locks and cranks the magna save battery)
3. Right drop target, u-turn or lock (mode shot or meeseeks / mega seed)
4. Center Scoop (can be lit for a mode or multiball or mystery)
5. Left drop target, u-turn or lock (mode shot or meeseeks / mega seed)
6. Left Ramp - feeds upper flipper (lite mode at scoop, mode shot or meeseeks / mega seed)
7-9. Jerry! Summer! Beth! Targets! (mode shots and??)
10. Shoot the pop bumper! - maybe there's a pop bumper frenzy mode or dimension that will tempt you do do this. Make the pop bumper sound a fart and i'm in! (mode shots, i think)
11. Shatz the left inlane into the scoop - i dare you to make me try this - left or right inlane hurry-up! (slam letter, future mode shots?)
Upper flipper
1. Spinner loop - gotta hit t clean - repeatable , in the Bowen Elwin dimension only (extra ball , charge portal gun , mode shot or mseeks / mega seed)
2. That target - forgot what it does
3. Garage - Front - (portal ready - change dimensions , super jackpot, mode shot or meeseeks / mega seed)
4. Other shots possible -drop targets , scoop , flooble , jerry , summer and beth targets
The action was fast and furious on this game and getting control was a bit of an issue . some of the tried and true methods sent the ball into the dangerous pop bumper which would kick to an equally dangerous sling. Nothing beyond lighting a mode and getting the ball into the scoop, left any time to admire the amazing screen graphics featuring our heroes. Probably would have been a good idea to trap the ball and look up at the screen and get some guidance during the time of rest. When modes start , there are some general instructions as to what to shoot for in addition to the blinky was a but difficult to hear the rick taunting in the bar environment. I do remember a player saying "did he just call me a &*%$#^%" .
I was able to change dimension several times , but unless you already know the game , you have to look up to the screen to see where you have arrived. As much as i appreciate the utlra-fast scoop returns on this game, it would be nice to have time to read about what dimension you popped into or even look at the screen. Again , there may have been sound cues that weren't audible. I enjoy a little stop and go if there are quality animations to watch. I never get sick of the TREX multi-ball intro, for instance. I don't expect that to happen on this game (maybe as an option) . it seems speciofically designed to make the dimension change quick) Hope there is a "Shake it up" dimension , featuring the shaker and some Rick & Morty Callouts. Like a dance party with shaking?
There's is no "flailing your way" to anything substantial on this game in it's current form. There is not much to do in the start if you don't hit a ramp or the flooble crank . None of those shots are easily hit by accident. What you will see from new players is a ton of shots to the scoop and the 2 targets or through the u-turn. The scoop was feeding to the spot on the right flipper that would naturally shoot back to the scoop or left drop target if you shot on the fly. Dead bouncing was lively and making for more problems. I hit many scoops by accident in a row or at times when it wasn't lit for anything. I hope there's some taunting for that! I like difficult games , but i do worry about non-competitive players having fun on this game.maybe one less adventure filled in at start and a mode lit without ramp at game start would help.
Ramps were smooth and fun to shoot . The left ramp was a bit steep and hard to get every time. Danesi lock 2.0 is a winner . The mech performs amazingly efficient and flawless. Be it a drop target or lock or u-turn , i found it fun to shoot for any condition. I'm not sure if there are rules for hitting the u-turn repeatedly , but it seems like a fun area to explore. Shots returning from the targets , u-turn scoop etc , seemed to naturally return there from on-the-fly flipping. Right u-turn loop was really fun to shoot . I love the way it flows to the upper flipper.
MAGNASAVE will, pull your ball out of the outlane! Don't forget about it. Most players didn't even use it or know about it. It's a thing you have to keep focus on to use because there isn't any time to think.
SUMMARY: didn't intend to type so much above, but it is what it is. Destined to be forgotten in the short memory of internet game reviews.
Rick and Morty (as of early game launch and played on a brutal steep set up) is a unique and fun game to play . It has fast action that forces you to remain focused and attentive. How much fun you have relies on a knowledge of the game rules and the Rick and Morty universe. I'm not sure if they have a game tutorial in the works for attract mode (maybe they already have it) but i would appreciate it for sure. Even it only explained a couple of things, like video game load screens do. Explain one dimension every so often etc.
I had a lot of bad games trying to learn the shots and get familiar with the ball feeds. Some games were not fun at all . Some games were an adrenaline-pumping great time . I can see some players not wanting to put in the time to learn the game. There were many player tears to be harvested. Top score 7mil.
This game is perfect for the home collection, due to the unique layout and the many awesome rules of dimension changes and multiple modes . The combination of modes and dimensions stacked with a multiball should lead to an almost infinite combination of unique gameplay situations. Meanwhile Meeseek mutipliers are degrading into divisors and megaseeds are waiting to be harvested for a juicy bonus! Break out your thinking caps, this is no "shoot the same shot over and over to build towards a mode or hurry up" type of game. You are shooting all over the playfield , if you can last long enough to do so. A tight tilt is too brutal for this game.
Sorry, no traditional flow. One could argue left ramp to spinner loop to garage (fast feed to left flipper) to right ramp to scoop (maybe) would be an awesome combo; but not the traditional smooth flow some people tend to revere. The pop bumper can send the ball almost anywhere, which results in an exclusive manic gameplay experience that is perfect for the theme. One too many screw turns and you're dead.
Cheers to Spooky pinball . You have assembled an awesome team of game designers , rules experts and support staff. This is a game to be proud of and I appreciate the level of detail you have committed to this game and the ones that preceded it. Keep that in mind when reading what follows .

Multiple instances of game-ending software / hardware events.
1. Had a nice game of close to 6 million going, started my 2nd multiball and ....RESET
2. Started 3 player game, launched ball and .. flippers died , ball drained . Gameplay stalled . Flippers returned , but no ball served.
3. At least one instance of game not returning from a tilt (didn't happen to me)
Previously mentioned ball launch to inner u-turn loop to SDTM
Ball stuck on upper switch on launch (happened only once that i know of ) switch too high
No easy achievements for beginners
Early gameplay scoop shots and target shots tend to return to same area with nothing rewarded or advanced.
Nothing tempts me to shoot the side targets . Maybe Jerry screams in pain if i shoot him . That i would love.
These were my observations and unfortunately i could not heart the sounds , so maybe there are some worthy taunts that accompany the situation of shooting the ball repeatedly to the same area and getting nothing . That would make it awesome instead of bad.
Probably the most impressive thing i did was leave at 8:40 pm , walk fast to subway , catch the train within a minute , transfer to another train , came within 3 minutes , run through Penn station (huffing and puffing) and ultimately catch the 9:11 pm train back. From Brooklyn streets to the train seat in 31 minutes. I almost perished. I did it all for ................
Rick and Morty Pinball

I think if Spooky's biggest QC right now is sub-par post sleeves, they are doing pretty darned good. At least it is something we can fix!

Ugh... sold my Rick and Morty deposit for cost yesterday to a fellow pinsider that's hooked me up in the past. The game is fantastic and I'd love one someday, but its just not in the cards with all the craziness going on right now. I see a Simpsons Pinball Party as a poor substitute purchase in my near future and will have to scratch the itch with a trip to Lyman's Tavern every once and a while once they open back up. I still plan on being a huge Rick and Morty cheerleader as the game really is pretty darned awesome.

Quoted from FYMF:

Sorry for the situation. Sincerely, did you not consider selling one of your other pins to fund RaM? Probably could get most covered with the JP2 no?

I strongly considered it, but am having a lot of fun with JP right now (although R&M is better). However, although I have what I view as stable employment (government sector), I am battening down the financial hatches right now. Cancelled the additional principal payments on my mortgage, pulled the retirement and kids funds out of the market, etc. I was tracking my machine being ready sometime in September. I am expecting supply line issues and COVID concerns to push the ready date back on that pin until next year (I believe Spooky has every intention of delivering a machine to everyone who has put down a deposit). I sold my deposit to my boss and am confident I can get a few games in when it is finally delivered. If I'm overly paranoid, which I hope I am, I will have enough in the pinball fund to buy a Simpsons Pinball Party when this all blows over. If I'm not, it will be good to have some more cash reserves laying around.

Quoted from SkillShot:

I would have traded numbers with you to give you more time. Mine probably won’t be ready until after January.

You'll be happy to know that it went to someone who has hooked me up in the past. Sold me a Star Trek for 3k when they were going for 4k, and gave me an Attack From Mars as a bonus at work so no harm done.
