Quoted from Chitownpinball:
Can there be a mode where you use the pops to get the screaming sun to rise?
Sounds like a great idea for a topper!
I fully expect to see Rick banging on this Spooky pinball machine while chiding Morty about something in the final episode of the season. Probably right at the end.
With regards to people flipping pins based on speculation, I have not seen anything about limiting an order to 1 machine. I have not bought from Spooky before.
Does anyone know if there will be an order limit?
And kermit24, thanks for bringing up Ticketmaster, you made me throw up in my mouth.
Quoted from f3honda4me:
This HAS to be a sellout, given how large the range is of order numbers. Fastest sellout ever for spooky?
Sooo, interesting how the order numbers are running. Keep in mind, that the build order (other than BSE first) I read was something like;
50 for Spooky
50 for Distros
50 for Spooky
50 for Distros
Be interesting to see the final tally on the actual spot in line we get.
They had the option to buy multiples. I can see OPs and speculators loading up on machines. One order # could contain many pins.
Quoted from garretswinning:
So what is that we get for ordering within the first 48hrs. Of sale. I havent seen anything on this
“In fact, if you buy a Blood Suckers Edition in the first 48 hours of sales launch, your game will even get another special little graveyard ornamental item AT NO EXTRA COST!”
Quoted from Scribbles:Apologies if this has been asked already, but does anyone know if this machine will be "R" rated with its callouts like the show? Or more family friendly? Or maybe selectable in the settings??
That could be a make or break feature for some. Myself included.
Quoted from SpookyCharlie:
Let's see what's going on with Pinside tonight.... WHOA! Was it something we said?
Working closely with the license ... more stuff to come soon. I will confirm this, game will have A FAMILY MODE! And it's gonna need it.
Peace among worlds...
Family Mode confirmed.
I am just happy i am on PTO today.
No way i would get any work done with this thread rolling.
Hopefully the globally challenged pinheads got in on this. I know there were some concerned with the timing.
The rate they are going, I considered grabbing a second one to flip, but decided I didn't want to be "that guy" that prevents somebody from getting in last minute.
I know I've been out of the pin scene for a while. 15 to 20 years ago we spent all our time sharing on rec.games.pinball. The past 6 months I reacquired the bug and began rebuilding a collection.
I find it funny that some folks here think 750 is a high number of machines to produce. We would give a left arm to find a production number that low.
Maybe if this was a general release or Pro/Premium/LE release stream and the LE were 750 that might be high. 750 for a total run is still low.
Think about it. How often do you think you'll see one of these machines on a route. Most will never see anything more than the basement/garage they move into.
I am soooo stoked to have stumbled on this release for my first NIB pinball machine. Can't wait to play with features never before released, like the DDL.
Thanks Spooky, looking forward to playing this game!
So here is my latest stab at calculation of delivery schedule.
No I have not heard anything yet.
Spooky had 375 orders, the other 375 were split up across distributors.
My understanding is they intend to build half the Spooky orders and half distro each week.
With a limit of 10/wk that means 5/wk for Spooky orders.
Lowest order known is 1790, my order is 1944. Making mine the 154th Spooky order.
Divide that by 5 builds a week and you get 30.8 weeks of builds.
That puts me somewhere around early August without factoring in holidays, inventory challenges, non-pinball orders in the first 16 minutes of ordering, or misc.
Quoted from Zablon:
You all are crazy if you think this is just going to magically go off without a hitch. There will be part problems, line problems, quality problems that slow production down. Just plan on waiting an indefinite amount of time if you aren't numbers 1-50. A quality product with a fleshed out code is way more important than getting immediate satisfaction of a rushed product.
Don't Squanch my dreams man!
Got my email
Order # 1944 machine # 427
As I live in Colorado I'd pay the holder of #420 $100 to swap with me.
Y'all are crazy. I am so happy to be #427 in a highly limited pool. So what if the first 120 were reserved. So what if Spooky has obligations and a willingness to recognize their repeat customers.
This game will be awesome.

Hmmmmm Halloween delivery for 427 ...
Seems strangely , Spookily appropriate.
I still want to know who has game #420.
It has relevance if you are from Colorado.
I'd be willing to throw a little money towards swapping for my #427 spot.
Quoted from screaminr:
For $45 you have to get the knocker . You can disconnect it if you want but at least you know it's there . Nothing better than when the knocker scares the crap out of someone not expecting it . Imo a real pinball machine has a knocker .
Agreed! I have the knocker set to hit for every replay awarded. Something nostalgic and gratifying when you hit top score and everybody in the room hearing those 4 knocks knows it.
Y'all kill me.
How could anyone argue about a simple knocker.
I like a machine with it. I was actually surprised it was an upgrade is all. Would've thought it was default.
Most machines have a simple two pin connector to disable if needed.
Meh. I'll be getting one.
Just an FYI.
I have seen the "Bill Acceptor Ready Door" referred to by different names. Be sure you understand this door just has the cutout to mount your own Bill Acceptor. It doesn't come with the actual unit.
So awesome that Spooky chose something so huge to say thanks.
Just like having Christmas come right after Christmas.
Quoted from SpookyCharlie:
Nobody is missing a thing regardless of when you got in or what upgrades you purchased... if you are getting a Rick and Morty, you're getting a topper.
More fun just to keep this simple and say THANK YOU to EVERYONE... properly. All 750 of you.
And awaaaaay we go!
Lemme see if I got this right.
We all want Spooky to pause making actual games to produce a promo video for a machine that is sold out...
I'd love to see gameplay as much as the next guy, but not if it delays my actual delivery.
Let's focus on pressuring whoever takes delivery to start with some home videos.
Quoted from TherealDroopy:
Does anyone recall the dimension count so far? Its at least ten for the Morty card, with the first nine being chosen by Rick/random. I cant remember if someone here or on a podcast mentioned how many, I know there's a possibility for future updates.
The logic behind Spooky allocating ranges of build numbers to Distros and trying to account for building all SEs at the end is conflicting. I am not going to speculate how they intend to handle this. As I won't see my Spooky pin until Halloween or Thanksgiving, I honestly don't care. Must be a massive headache for Spooky. (Getting a Spooky pinball on Halloween would be cool though.)
Quoted from rlslick:
Just picked this Bluetooth speaker from Target. About 8 inches in total height. Pickle Rick moves around in circles and also includes the R&M Theme song.
See if I can’t get a video uploaded with it in action.[quoted image]
If you post a video of this thing, make sure to mark it as NSFW.
What website did you order it from?
I'm curious what exactly y'all are planning to do with your pinball machines that you are already planning on getting spare decal sets...
I will probably decide on Butter, after I see a pic of an R&M Butter cabinet.
We live pretty rural, but through persistent digging i found a local provider for wireless broadband.
Plenty of speed to stream Netflix, etc. I suffered through poor DSL and horrific satellite service.
I have very few issues anymore.
For you folks not seeing FB or didn't read the comments this is a cool reply from Spooky.
Confirms the topper isn't totally static.
Yeah, if I recall correctly, in one of the interviews, they explain the fact that requiring hitting the pop bumper to complete a mode was the inspiration for the slam save.
Quoted from Multiballmaniac1:
This is the happiest thread I think I ever seen. I feel renewed.
This is a pretty happy thread generally.
Can't wait until it starts getting peppered with R&M pins.
Quoted from sataneatscheese:
A Rick and Morty Pre-Order spot... for a standard... just sold for $3,550. That would bring the total price, for the machine to be delivered in 2021, to $9,545 plus tax and shipping and whatever accessories they buy. $10k by Christmas may be an understatement.[quoted image]
Good thing shipping was free.
Quoted from rai:
I don't understand the ad shows 'requires a Fang Club membership to transfer this spot.'
That doesn't sound correct, I thought the Fang club was to get an early jump on the order, now that it's been ordered why would the new buyer need to be a Fang Club member?
I believe it was due to the fact that everyone that bought in had to have a membership.
Somebody buying after market and getting placed before someone with a membership might perturb some folks.
Having just read through 2 years and 6000 posts on the TNA thread, I am completely content waiting until later this year to see my R&M #427.
Spooky has made great QC and process improvements since they began this journey and kudos to them. Pinball machines are complex mechanical devices, now with complex computers added to them, that are expected to interact with humans. As we know, all humans play exactly the same, it should be simple to build bomb proof pins.
Truth is lots of things can be uncovered in "field testing" in homes and on routes. All you "early adopters" that can't be patient in receiving your pin can be my hardware beta testers. By the time i see my machine, I will know exactly what to expect and what modifications (i.e. washers under star posts) need to be made.
There is a lot to be learned from the TNA club thread.
Lots of folks have joined this hobby knowing very little about pinball machines. Getting into collecting pins in the late 90s you entered by getting an old very used pinball machine and bringing it back to life. The only folks really buying NIB pins were operators and a couple of folks we were ALL jealous of. Now when a pin is purchased its seen as an investment rather than an expense. SMH. These things are built with the understanding that they will break and will need to be repaired. The origin of pins should give folks a clue as to what to expect. They were bought to make money. Put it on route, minimal investment for upkeep, resell it if you can once you've made your money back.
Now if folks get a pin with a broken bulb they want compensation for it. SERIOUSLY?
Yes its a lot of money for a pinball, but it was never intended to be a personal toy.
If i have ever seen a worst case of "first world drama", this "new" hobby is it.
Enjoy your pinball machine!
Plan on learning how to fix it.
Recognize great customer service when you see it.
Never forget, it's only a game.
Nobody made you spend so much money on a toy that was built with a different purpose in mind.
Go Spooky! You are killing it!
Quoted from Diospinball:
I know I'm late to the party. But, I just saw the gameplay footage of this machine. And it looks really awesome. I like the animations and callouts. Never watched the show, but I think I would really enjoy it. So I might actually start to watch it... The only bummer is, I don't see these machines coming up for sale too often, and when/if they do, they're going to be snatched up quickly.
Loved the pickle rick mode in the game. Just too much fun. Loved the mech suit pickle sequence and then fighting the rats. Man... This game looks amazing. As I think the magna save will be cool, and the layout is just the right amount of uniqueness to it, and I like how the lock can be a super fast orbit, and then turns into the ball lock.
Wow... I might regret not trying to put money and get a down payment on this game. As I don't see Stern releasing a theme I want for a good bit(not stern bashing I own a Maiden and Elvira.... Just I doubt if any more dream themes for me are coming from them). I was saving my money for the 4th CGC remake. But, who knows when/if that will be coming anytime soon.
This might be the game of 2020.
Heh, wait until you start watching the show.
Let's try to NOT turn this thread into the troll feeding frenzy going on over in the STh thread. Spooky is doing fine and knew enough to not over extend themselves due to greed. They never said they won't make more pinball machines. They only won't make more of THIS pinball machine.
I have plenty of missed opportunities over my many years, fortunately this wasn't one of them. The wound will heal and other opportunities will knock.
The release went well for a small company, the majority of fans are happy, the streams seem to be adding to the fever.
Overall i am still pretty stoked how this is all playing out.
Quoted from Rarehero:
I knew. R&M really is a “perfect storm” theme...it’s new, relevant, funny, already kinda timeless, has a passionate fanbase + a passionate fanbase within the pinball fanbase.
I’ve been trying to think of another theme that was as perfect for pinball in 2020 as R&M...it’s really difficult.
As far as animated shows go, I think Spongebob & Adventure Time could be pinball hits. They’re family friendly, but adults love them too - and they’re still relevant.
Spooky can avoid selling out in 4 hours by not announcing the title or the date of sale beforehand if it is such a problem.
Quoted from o-din:
I'm good now. I've never felt like such a failure in all my life. lol.
Nimblepin told me somebody posted to wake me up earlier. Thanks!
My favorite post the morning of... (or was it the morning after)
Too funny when folks were buying and checking in and somebody says, "Where the hell is O-din?"
Quoted from Slapfighter:
I have a bad feeling that Stern will do a Futurama pin somewhere in the future.
They see the big success and hype about Rick and Morty and wish they had done it.
The imperium strikes back. I think it happens.
Not funny i know.
I doubt Stern would gear up for what would likely be a "small" run like Futurama. The boutiques could do this, but these cult themes will continue to thrive in small batches.
