I'll be keeping an eye on this. It could be really good, but my only concern would be the music. Is Scott doing music for it, or is it all show/theme music with some Shwifty thrown in? That could get old real quick.

#299 4 years ago
Quoted from TheNoTrashCougar:

I am doing a lot of the music, sound fx and lightshows.
--Scott

Hell yeah! That's really good to hear. I'm excited for the playfield reveal!

Quoted from o-din:

...when South Park saved pinball soley on theme...

Did it? I've never heard this before, and looking at what the following couple of years of releases looked like, I just don't see it. I would argue that Harley-Davidson did more for pinball than South Park lol.

#326 4 years ago

That makes sense, thanks for the answer!

#656 4 years ago
Quoted from BeeGeeMtl:

Anyone from Canada (Montreal) ever order directly from Spooky Pinball before? Our local distributor doesn't carry Spooky so I'd have to order directly from them, but I worry about the import duties and shit, not to mention maintenance issues thereafter. Any experiences you can share?

Can't speak on Quebec but ordering direct from them to Alberta was completely painless.

#1580 4 years ago
Quoted from SpookyLuke:

Last but not least cartoon network decides when we show the game.

Does that mean the game is going to include things from this season, and that they are waiting so as not to spoil anything?

« Spoiler! Click to reveal.Dragon soul-bond orgy upper playfield confirmed. »

#2037 4 years ago

Is it just me or is that flipper at the top/back *really* back there? Are there any other games that have put an upper flipper basically right at the back?

#2041 4 years ago
Quoted from monkfe:

Tspp has one

I should have remembered that one, I owned one lol. So I guess this is either going to have an upper playfield or it is going to have a really strange flipper at the back

#2043 4 years ago

I was raised on the internet, nothing surprises me anymore.

#3083 4 years ago

Yeahhh buddy, had to grind a few gears on the website, but order AB-1839 is in!

#3123 4 years ago
Quoted from Aniraf:

I did Joe at PinballStar right at 9am. I certainly hope that gives me a good standing in line!

Did you at least buy him breakfast first?

#3136 4 years ago
Quoted from AFM95:

I'm trying to understand how he sold out - as everyone has an opportunity for the BSE if you are a fang club member.

The distro's have an allotment of bse's and their allotments get spread throughout the production que.

#3218 4 years ago

1839 - BSE

#3260 4 years ago
Quoted from libtech:

But dont half go to distros? so maybe they are not sold yet

Yeah that's my thoughts as well, but I don't imagine what is in stock is going to last long. I don't think I've ever seen a pin with this much hype around it before.

#3286 4 years ago

"You get points for hitting the post"

Ohhhhh shit boys, high score incoming!

#3311 4 years ago
Quoted from RandomGuyOffCL:

No limit and this wouldn’t be happening right now.
People would act normal and wait

I don't know about that. Having a longer production time (they said they do 10 games a week, right?), I think a lot of people would want to get in early just so they could get a game sooner. Plus, theme and team are what sell games.

#3347 4 years ago

I've got a reasonably early spot in line and it's a BSE, so being generous I should have my game late february. I will stream it when I get it.

#3354 4 years ago
Quoted from SantaEatsCheese:

I wonder what the Rick and Morty core fanbase will do when word of this gets out... I don't think they really marketed at all to that community.

I'm glad they didn't, and they clearly didn't need to.

#3369 4 years ago
Quoted from libtech:

You realize since you'll get yours long before I get mine, your calling me when it comes and I'm bringing over some beers right?

Wouldn't have it any other way!

#3380 4 years ago
Quoted from CrazyLevi:

If I were in on this I wouldn't just arbitrarily invent a month when I'm getting my game; seems like a pretty sure way to set yourself up for disappointment.

1790 is the earliest we have heard about, I was conservative and said 1750 is the real first game, then I did 10 games a week (a number spooky gave) and voila, late february. It's not an arbitrary month. Also, that assumes they have zero made right now, as spooky said they would start production the day after christmas.

#3386 4 years ago
Quoted from CrazyLevi:

OK good luck with that

Thanks Levi! All the best to you as well.

#3396 4 years ago
Quoted from davisjl1979:

I ordered a shirt this morning and it was 1767.

Quoted from brucipher:

I only just ordered my fang club membership this morning (about 45 minutes before the pre-sale). That was order number 1782.

Good info, thanks! So assuming distro's didn't get first crack, 1790 may be the actual first game.

#3442 4 years ago
Quoted from bigd1979:

Unbelievable hype for this one considering no one has played one or seen a stream. Usually once a steam happens is when buyers remorse sets in and people drop out or sell out... happens every release. Was smart not to show a gameplay video especially with non refundable deposit.

I bought based on theme and team, same reason I usually get in on something. My main concerns were addressed before the game was even shown, so I was pretty much gonna buy anyways at that point. But yeah, stream usually changes people's minds.

#3450 4 years ago

TigerLaw Can we get a game page made now that we have pictures, orders are in, all the details are out, etc?

#3483 4 years ago
Quoted from Whysnow:

broken record status has been reached...
can we start a club thread now for those of us that want to talk about the game and not bashing what it is going to sell for later because... Keep the speculation in this thread and let's talk game stuff in the club thread.

Can't until the first game ships.

This is the most extreme form of FOMO, FOMOEAYHABI: Fear Of Missing Out Even After You Have Bought It

#3501 4 years ago
Quoted from TigerLaw:

The current Pinside policy is the game must have shipped before the club thread is opened. We are close to being able to have it opened if they are starting production right after Christmas. Should be super soon.

I knew that about the club thread, but I was referring to the actual game listing in the pinside machine database. Either way, not a big deal!

#3534 4 years ago

If it says it's available here: http://shop.spookypinball.com/Blood-Sucker-Edition-INITIAL-PAYMENT-Rick-and-Morty-_p_20.html

It is. Be aware when ordering that at this point you're going to be looking at 1.5-2 years until delivery.

#3552 4 years ago
Quoted from CoolCatPinball:

Seriously?! 1.5 to 2 years until shipping starts???

Shipping starts basically right after christmas, but they are a small company that can make around 10 games a week. Do the math on 750 games, it's gonna be a while.

#3558 4 years ago
Quoted from Rarehero:

Actually it looks like they understand the theme & classic pinball art. There are “lines” to each shot with the electricity trails....similar to classic games. And the stuff floating around is accurate to the R&M opening sequence.
Also, I thought TNA’s art looked simple at first, but when you’re playing you realize it’s a benefit - the true art while playing is the light show...and that plays better off simpler art.

Completely agree. Looking at the artwork again, I think adding anything else to it would just clutter things up and make it a mess.

#3821 4 years ago

Can we get an ultra limited "ordered in the first 10 minutes" pickle rick shooter rod? Smooooooth re-entry (into the shooter lane)

#3898 4 years ago
Quoted from DanQverymuch:

No one has pointed it out yet. I'm curious myself.
Flyer says "songs" which there haven't been a lot of. Get Schwifty, Terry Flaps, the Bowie-esque song by Fart, what else could there be?

Flooble Crank is the post/captive ball thing to the right of the u-turn.

Scott confirmed he made original music for the game.

#4027 4 years ago
Quoted from garretswinning:

Im surprised no one has brought up the art blades in the standard r&m video with charlie in it. Bet alot of you will go back n check now lol. But for real it is there

They look good, but they are so dark that's why nobody noticed them. I want bright, punchy, wild, zany, wacky, waving, flailing, inflatable-arm tube man graphics like on the outside of the cab.

#4173 4 years ago

Okay, so I have a question that doesn't seem like it's been resolved yet. On the under pf image, there is a flipper sized coil at the middle back of the playfield. The actual mech looks like it's sitting underneath the right side of the house. What is this controlling? We have the Flooble Crank which lines up with it, but Charlie said there's a captive ball back there, so it's probably not for that. It does not appear to be related to the center scoop. It looks like the right inner orbit leads to it?

Quoted from TheNoTrashCougar:

Diverter to direct the right orbit to the garage or loop it around at the upper flipper from across the playfield.
--Scott

It took less than 2 minutes for me to get an answer to a question directly from the designer of the game. Unreal. Thank you!

#4182 4 years ago
Quoted from The_Casual:

What are you most excited about in R&M Scott Sanesi?

New flyers most likely

#4183 4 years ago
Quoted from o-din:

Yes, this is an alternate universe to the rest of pinside.

Truly this thread is the brightest timeline.

Idea:

Co-op Mode where each player is a member of the family. Player 4 is always Jerry because fuck player number 4.

#4716 4 years ago
Quoted from Propsnsports:

Has anyone received there email yet that ordered direct?

Like the order confirmation email? I got it right after I ordered.

#5026 4 years ago

#1839 @ 273. Definitely not getting it when I thought I was lol. I went from thinking I was going to be order 49 in March or so to late summer at best.

#5084 4 years ago

I'm fine with my order arriving later than expected. It just sucks that I signed up for Fang Club as soon as it was announced to be ready for launch, got up early and successfully ordered (with confirmation) in the first 5 minutes and that wasn't enough to guarantee me an "early" spot. #273 is fine, but it sure doesn't seem like my efforts were worth much.

Either way, I'm in, I just won't be able to take my game to our yearly local pinball show (YEGpin), so hopefully someone else who had better luck than me can bring theirs. Bummer for a lot of people who were looking forward to playing it I imagine.

#5428 4 years ago

I consider taking a game to a show "stress testing". If something is going to break, it would also be nice for it to happen when there are a dozen techs available (who know more than me) to help me sort it out lol.

#5432 4 years ago
Quoted from The_Casual:

Is this pinball Cuckolding?

No, it's just not being a man-cave troll who hordes their games away in their man-cave where others can't enjoy them. Like others have said, these things are meant to be played.

Game's not even out yet and ya'll already talking about playing with your flooble cranks like they're already in your hands! Scott said go in with no protection, so I'm going to take his word on it and slap some balls on some flooble cranks COMPLETELY DRY! This is a guy who's been playing with his flooble crank since before you guys even knew there was a flooble crank, you think he doesn't know what he's talking about? Unbelievable, bunch of armchair flooble crank enthusiasts, the lot of you!

Spooky, please, pretty please, put out a professional quality video of the gameplay before one of these jerry's uploads a terrible quality video.

#8484 4 years ago
Quoted from RandomGuyOffCL:

Can someone please swing by spooky under the pretense of buying a shirt or something, and then casually ask to play the game, and then secretly turn on their iPhone to record, and then place the iPhone in their shirt Breast pocket?
Thanks

Can somebody at spooky make sure this doesn't happen, and then instead, when it's quiet (so we can hear callouts and music) record a proper video with a proper player (someone like, oh, i don't know, bowen) explaining the rules?

#8738 4 years ago
Quoted from screaminr:

Not sure if Jack danger is the best person to go with now , he's coping a lot of hate and backlash and people unsubscribing to him after his comments . Everything has been so positive about this machine I would hate to see anything overshadow it's reveal and give people an excuse to say negative things .

What comments?

#8883 4 years ago

How about a few more pixels?

#8886 4 years ago

Lol thanks.

I actually think a random "crossover episode" would be fun for midnight madness. I don't think it would fit in great on the game normally, and it's not weird enough for interdimensional cable.

#9673 4 years ago

Ohhh man, this looks so good! I'll agree, the upper flipper looked pretty rough to shoot from, but I'm not overly concerned about it if it made it through the whitewood stage. Game might need a little bit of level adjustment, players might just not be in the zone for those shots, etc.

As everyone has mentioned, the sound and integration with the theme is fantastic! Usually watching gameplay video brings me back down to reality a bit, but I'm in the same spot now as I was when I saw the playfield for the first time. Can't wait until mine gets here!
