Quoted from Hazoff:

I thought it was going to be Killer Klowns From Outer Space, that had a chance. This has zero chance. Who the hell are Rick and Morty?

Don't be such a Jerry C-137.

Guess by all them down votes you may have finally searched and discovered how wildly popular this show is...

#689 4 years ago
Quoted from cait001:

Nothin personnel kid

I lol'd at this "coup de grâce" - I understand this is (likely) merely a typo but it is a rather fitting ending given all the hyperbole regarding the IQ of the average RaM viewer.

Quoted from delt31:

Replace GnR with iron maiden and then you have the old men title. Do the math

I'm young, grew up on Maiden and go to shows whenever I can. the average age of attendees at shows, especially up on the rail (and those I see walking around VIP and merch areas), is between 18 and 30. While they are a band comprised of old men, the preponderance of the fan base at live shows is young. Just see Rock in Rio for an example.

GnR on the other hand... the reunion live shows demonstrated mostly late 40s to early 50s with a speckling of youth here and there.

Quoted from pinmister:

The way they have it set up is lame, it is making people buy a membership to get a better position in line. Who cares about the swag-to me it is the principle.

Whenever I visit an amusement park I pay for the "fast lane" or whatever it is branded so I can jump the general line que. For example, the wait for Steel Vengeance at Cedar Point was 2 freakin' hours... with fast lane plus I waited less than 15 minutes. I paid extra so that I don't have to wait as long and to get on more rides (the evil eye from the plebs in the general que always makes me laugh).

As for the Fang Club, I paid extra to support a great American company (with the added benefit of having early access to purchase from Spooky). As you point out, it is the principle of the matter... I will always pay extra to get a competitive advantage.

Do you know I named my most recent dog Spaghetti because of this show? I hope you remember that episode.

Quoted from o-din:

If it will help pay to fix the street in front of my house so it doesn't throw chunks of asphalt at me while I'm mowing the lawn, I don't mind throwing in a few bucks to do that.

Legislatively, in the majority of states, that is what the gas tax is supposed to be for.

#2392 4 years ago
Quoted from toyotaboy:

Both of us being from the chicago area, I think Illinois pays some of the highest anywhere (except maybe new york city and california). Next year we get to pay tax on auto trade-ins higher than $10k (double taxed). Thank god I'm the type of person that drives vehicles into the ground.

I want to downvote Illinois for this confiscatory, greedy policy.

Quoted from underlord:

I don’t care about when the reveal is. I’m not concerned about 750 selling out day one. Without some sort of real-playing example I won’t buy on theme alone. That’s a poor planned decision.

I am willing to wager that there are at least 750 RaM fans with more money than patience to wait for a reveal... I am one of them.

This is a mix of love for the theme and FOMO - once RaM fan base gets wind of this, it will be a guaranteed sellout day one.

Hell, the only marketing they need is a single tweet from JR or DH to set the rabid fan base ablaze... hammer home the fact only 750 will be made EVER and you may see Spooky's website crash as if there was a DDOS.

#2843 4 years ago
Quoted from Fortytwo:

Is the talking cat only from season 4 episode 4 because that’s really new and the cat is on the playfeild.

Quoted from Pdxmonkey:

Looks like a different cat

That's not the cat from this season - that is Squanch.

Quoted from Mogg:

AB-2007
Back of the line-

Not so sure if you are at the back of the line. It seems as though orders start somewhere in the 1700s and will likely terminate in the 2400s... this is assuming distributors have order numbers blocked out but still in line with those that ordered direct. Hypothetical example: PinballStar has orders 1790 to 1800 and 1890 to 1900.

Also, not every unit sold is BSE, so in some instances your order #2007 could be fulfilled before a #1977. Right?

I'm having multiple jackpots thinking about getting our first NIB Spooky!

I have to figure out a way to put this "on location" in my office so patients can get a chance to play this (no butter cab for us). I know it may sound superficial to some, but Rick and Morty is often a bright light to patients facing dim prospects; and, if nothing else, a common interest that helps build rapport and deepen relationships. Now Spooky Pinball can be part of the healing art and science of medicine!

It may be difficult, however, as a large portion of patients will be easily offended by the content (even if censored)... probably a small but vocal minority of patients would be put off by how "unprofessional" a pinball machine in a doctor's office would be. So putting this in the waiting area is a no go.

Now that I am thinking about this, any pinheads in the Ohio area up for putting on a free pinball show for kids at Akron Children's Hospital?

#3710 4 years ago
Quoted from Fytr:

It would be fun if there was a "beep" mode too, where the swearing was there but the game beeps it all out, as opposed to "clean" callouts only.

I would love this option.

#3732 4 years ago

I'm half tempted to put my place in line on eBay for $10,000, auction end date 12/25/2019. j/k

Quoted from SpookyCharlie:

ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ahhhhhhhh

#3774 4 years ago
Quoted from Mogg:

I’ve got at least 6 months to hide this from my wife

I joked about putting this on eBay for $10,000 (for the place in line) with an auction end date of 12/25/2019 and my wife about blew a gasket. She wants this table as much as I do.

#3778 4 years ago
Quoted from TikiTilt:

Man, I literally joined the dang club 5 minutes too late.

Sorry to read this. Maybe someone will have a place in line for you - I'm sure there will be at least one standard buyer that will cool off in 6 months (when their wait is 18) in favor of another theme with more immediate availability.

#3782 4 years ago
Quoted from cmack750:

Payment via PayPal credit with deferred interest gives me 6 months to figure out how to break the news

Get the wife into R&M... then casually bring up in conversation how awesome it would be to own a R&M themed pinball machine. When she excitedly chirps in the affirmative, tell her the wonderful news! Problem solved.

#3813 4 years ago
Quoted from o-din:

That'll learn me.[quoted image]

I thought you made it under the wire?

#3861 4 years ago
Quoted from scruffypinball:

Spooky proves it can work with a “huge” license. I know a homebrew looking for a home with Mark Incitti’s “A nightmare before Christmas”... someone please make this game! Lol

I'm in the process of reproducing this pin, it is a slow go with work and personal life but I should have something to show some time next year. I have a CNC machine made with off the shelf parts that is precise and accurate... router, laser, drag knife and pen attachment. I've also been toying around with inkjet printheads for direct printing (my work area is 4ft x 8ft full sheet of plywood). This all in preparation of designing my own "It" theme pinball, NBX being like a tutorial and refinement of my processes.

Imagine what spooky could do for a title like NBX! Although, production runs would probably have to be small like with AMH - I doubt there is volume for NBX.

Quoted from dondon4720:

Summer and tinkles music would be awesome

#3972 4 years ago
Quoted from Deez:

I'm looking forward to the flood of games onto the market from people trying to fund these

Credit, earn those reward points then pay it off with cash?

#4042 4 years ago
Quoted from monkfe:

TAFG sold 1000 in one day I believe...back in the day

For less money as well - $3195 in 1994 = $5,545 in 2019. BSE at $7520 vs TAFG at $5545.

#4373 4 years ago
Quoted from razorsedge:

But it is not a different model or variant. It's the "head of the queue" option, that is tied to the candy armor package. Oh and a Blood Sucker Plate that probably 80% of all games have... yeah okay maybe Lol ... but will one get a different top 100 place than the other??
Yeah so really the "Standard Club" is actually more like the "LE Club"

Weird how that works out. I could care less about how rare it is and more about how much my wife's favorite color is purple and that powdercoated armor sealed the deal for her. Cannot wait to see it in person.

#4411 4 years ago
Quoted from FunfZylidner:

I bought in, I think I'm #38 in line woot. One point of comment to the developers at Spooky. I sincerely hope that the parts currently shown as 3D printed don't make it into the final game? Nothing brings down the apparent quality of something than 3D printed parts, especially FDM printed parts.
In particular the Death Crystals jumped out at me...
Regards,
James[quoted image]

Agreed. It is not difficult at all to create a mold. If you must use 3D printing and do so cheaply, go with SLA.

#4416 4 years ago
Quoted from Spiderpin:

Ya, if I didn't get Rick and Morty I was going to get Alice Cooper's Nightmare Castle

Same here.

#4643 4 years ago
Quoted from jwilson:

If you guys are jonesing to make a mod, consider replacing the dome on the spaceship with a clear one, putting an angled mirror inside it and then have a screen sitting on the bottom of the ship pointing up. Pepper's Ghost.
Then you can have video of Rick and Morty in the ship. Have it react to things.

Did you incept me?

https://www.adafruit.com/product/910 is on the way to do just what you described. Figured go cheap before the OLED with LVDS route.

Order #: 1823 (direct)
Game #: 258

mid-June?

While it would most certainly have not changed my decision, it would have been nice to know machines dedicated to CN were also jumping the line (I guess I missed that on the site or if it was discussed here). I believe most of the confusion came from the repeated speculation that orders went 10 spooky then 10 distro. 5 weeks became 6.5 months.

I guess this solves the dilemma I had thought of today... should I shun Pinside and ignore any new images/videos that release regarding the pin. That would be tough to do for 6.5 months! Now I will have to resist finding someone local (I want my first play to be on our first NIB).

I believe it is worth repeating: I will never sell my Rick and Morty pinball!

#5058 4 years ago
Quoted from jonesjb:

Just got my email, order 1818, pin 143.

I guess I can sympathize with that other guy's confusion. I had order #1823 and have game #258. 115 machines separate us. I really thought I was going to be #148.

If only they went with Dayton Audio brand speakers from Parts Express.

#6526 4 years ago
Quoted from JustEverett:

I can depending on who else orders butter. I added butter to my ACNC and it definitely bumped me up.

If butter cabs bumped you up in line then 700ish people would order a butter cabinet. I know I would gladly pay $1000 to get my R&M this February/March versus end of July. I don't mind paying an impatient tax.

#6781 4 years ago

$410 in upgrades for our machine. $6405 due when it hits the line (plus shipping). At least we will have nice summer weather when it gets delivered.

#7421 4 years ago

I'm not sure why this quote was down-voted? It is an excellent example of how Spooky is keeping the American Dream alive. Greed is not good and Charlie gets that. He makes decisions for the company with his family, company, and employees first.

We, as customers, benefit from this business model because it is what will keep Spooky alive if tough times ever come. Scaling back production to 500 from 750 is a lot easier to manage than from 2500 to 500. Who is to say the next license or original theme will be as popular as Rick and Morty?

I admire the business model and cannot wait to get my first NIB pinball machine.

Edit: missing quote of a quote...

Hawk quoted: "We consistently build 10 games a week at this point. We very rarely ever miss that mark anymore. We have done 500 a year the last 2 years. We dont plan on breaking that system for now. We have to be very careful as a small company. All of our guys are full time and they count on that paycheck to feed their families. If we get to the point where sales consistently demand we could expand easily. However you just never know how that next title is going to go over and how the market is going to be the next year. We never want to have a day at spooky pinball where we have to walk people to the door because we dont have work for them. It's just not what any of us are about. There are more important things than big numbers."

#7428 4 years ago
Quoted from kermit24:

Lots of words there. Not sure why you felt the need to copy and paste information and posts that are already out there

I was curious why someone would down-vote Charlie's explanation of his production model (even if quoted by someone else).

Apparently when you attempt to quote a post without original text that was nothing more than a quote of someone else's post it will not include the post. I was attempting to follow the rules of attribution (and make it easy to follow because no quote or attribution was there, then people would be asking what post my reply was in reference to).

#7430 4 years ago
Quoted from razorsedge:

Downvotes are about the post, not the quote. The posters comments are no longer there.

Gotchya - I didn't see any text with his quote, so I guess that's why.

Yesterday Arrived Rick and morty number 6 in Germany. Next step is airbrush some parts
What a fantastic pinball, I love it absolutely
Fantastic Job from spooky, the Lightshow in incredible.
I made a little video, without glass and topper in action.

Lock is lit... and so am I! I wonder what other famous callouts (like multiple jackpots) made it into the game?
