Did you incept me?
https://www.adafruit.com/product/910 is on the way to do just what you described. Figured go cheap before the OLED with LVDS route.

This would be a ridiculously awesome Interdimentional Tv box mod, there is some nice real estate open for one

Quoted from titanpenguin:

No, what was said is he is hidden. My guess is under the flipper, or under a playfield feature that moves.

Great, now we're playing hide the pickle.

Who told you? LOL

#4654 3 years ago

I recall him saying that he would not be on the playfield but would be 'Hidden in the Game'. He definitely did not say 'Hidden somewhere else on the playfield'.

I am guessing that he is not gonna be on the playfield at all but rather a significant Video / Display character.

Pickle Rick moving to hide Underneath the upper flipper...

Hmm.
I'm not sure if I get Rick and Morty.

What happened to the Rick and Morty gameplay video. Was there an issue why it was pulled ?

Well, not all poop jokes.

Quoted from wesman:

Agreed. I certainly didn't intend for an argument to develop from simply suggesting a feature that I wouldn't mind seeing in this game.

Are you referring to where RAZA's main ramp hits a diverter at the top and can send the ball in either direction? He also has the same gimmick in TOM and TOTAN. Not sure what that has to do with a "portal". I'm confused

I thought I'd read or heard something about a daredevil style ramp. Where there's a gap it can fly over, and then land on the other side. I thought that was on the front part of the right ramp, before that other stuff.

My suggestion was something akin to that, with a physical portal between the two sides of a ramp. Thee ball then flying through, and landing on the other side of the ramp. And of course seeing an animation of that occurring too. Sumthin' like that anyway.

#4661 3 years ago

I can’t wait for when I lose a ball and the machine says way to go fucking Jerry you can’t do anything right!

Quoted from Pan94:

OMG I hadn't really thought about that before, but that would be pretty funny to be playing as Jerry and Rick just bashes you the entire time. In fact? I think that would be the BEST way to do this game.

#4663 3 years ago

Agree cause the better you do like the show Rick will start warming up to you! But if you have a bad game he’s on your ass!

Yeah the "daredevil ramp" seemed to be one part of that game that was universally panned. People said the ball cluncked up and inch or so, hit a plastic and was then dumped on the middle PF. Apparently not too satisfying.

Not saying the concept couldn't be done better though...

The "poop jokes" in RaM are merely a surface layer. Obligatory attraction for the kind of demographic that follow the more mindless kinds of toilet cartoon "shows". For the fans whom totally get it, the real belly laughs come from an underlying much deeper level that not everybody seems to follow.

Not all RaM "fans" appear to get the subtle deeper messages, or humor... of course everyone is different

"today's humor is all POOP jokes", I tend to agree generally (and don't get much of a laugh from the mindless toilet humor/sick crap).... but this is what makes RaM different among most of todays rubbish, RaM is much more than just its trimmings of juvenile poop jokes.

#4667 3 years ago

Just went back and looked at all the reveal photos again for the first time since pulling the trigger and am feeling SO glad that I did! It’s great looking! Why was I initially underwhelmed? Probably because fantasy/expectation is the best setup for disappointment.

I truly love the cabinet art. Even though I know the butter version will look amazing I also expect their decals to be great quality. I’ve got a direct print WOZ (which is gorgeous) sitting next to a Stern ST premium and honestly I don’t visually register the superior quality of the WOZ cabinet unless I stop to intentionally look. If my R&M were going to be standing alone (not in a lineup) I might go butter but decals are fine for my lineup.

The playfield is just right imo. It could’ve easily gotten too busy and bright - potentially making it hard to track the ball. I’ve even decided that I really like the spaceship on a spring. It’s got just the right sort of R&M in your face dork quality to it - very cartoon.

On the portal, I can picture an effective simple way of implementing a "holographic" portal mod at a point along that shot.... and I think it would actually create a fantastic effect and look Awesome!

Possibly two... entry And exit!

Well watching the video, when the ball comes out there it sure seems like there is a magnet there that slowed the ball to almost a stop....but can't speak to what that is specifically.

#4674 3 years ago

I'd say it is a mag "plate", electro core, that rattles the momentum out of the ball as it "re-enters"? ... thanks to the pickup by Zablon and Lounge.

I was too distracted around that point of the video, laughing at Ricks pisstake monotone quote Lol .... "I'm havin' multiple jackpots"

#4675 3 years ago
Quoted from Pinballpal:

Cool let’s do this.

Need to see more of how that part of the game is constructed for how hard/easy it will be to impliment... but something about that portal lane/shot/garage, how it is laid out, almost seems like the idea I have in my head is something like what might have been planned at some point in concept/design. Looks like it would fit almost toooo well!

Could understand it being cut due to its potential to blow out the BOM. If it could work the way I imagine, it would look spectacular! ... on re-entry perhaps as well!

Might require the nullifying of a couple of Scotts gazillion RGB lights though!

Q: I assume if you make a shot to the Unlit portal, that the ball still emerges from the re-entry?

Also watching closer, it looks to me like that is more than just a space ship on a spring... does anyone else think that looks like it is animated by a coil or something from below?

They have the cool LED-lit targets at the horseshoe, but I wish the three standups on the left had been the same kind of drop targets with the characters on them. It looks like the bank could be sweepable from the right flipper if it were drop targets, too.

So change those to drop targets for the sold-out LE machines, and regular standups on the standard editions.

Yeah, it's pretty cool on the video. The ball comes screaming out of the scoop and the magnetic field (EDIT: Not actually magnetic, strictly mechanical action, see post below) across those plates stop the ball and then release it all in like a second. Neat.

Wondering why that magnet setup is necessary when almost exact same setup works without it on JJP POTC.

Yep

Go for the one at the top of This page... link changed, maybe because of being sold out, who knows...

Without the magnet that fast kickout would send the ball Way too fast down the inlane. The super fast kickout I assume is just for portal effect.

*Edit: NOT a magnet, but is something mech for slowing the ball. Striker plate that the ball is lanched at, for instance.

Looking at the under playfield pics it shows that it is just a plate screwed in from below.

Not a magnet, just a plate that the ball hits to slow its momentum.

Id like to know what yhe flipper coil in the far back controls, any insight to that yet?

True! ... kickout must be Aimed to "rattle" then I suppose.

Coil up the top is diverter. Can go to garage or loop I think it was. Scott has posted about it somewhere in the thousands of posts.... I think there may also be some sort of coil hiding in there for the ship ...

There was a small error in the original video so it had to be re-uploaded.

Any chance there will be more video soon? Love to see a bit of gameplay, just to get a feel for how the shots flow.

How does the antigravity (magnasave) device work? Is it....

A. Once charged, you can push it to activate the magnasave, where it turn on and holds the ball for a fixed period of time (like 4 seconds)?
B. You charge it up like a battery, and stays on when you hold the button in as long as there is charge while it drains? If you press it for half a second it pulses using just one bar of the charge, if you hold in for 3 seconds, it holds the ball and uses most of the charge.
C. Other

I guess "B"

There is no magnet on the left side. That plate is in there to help guide the ball smoothly into the inlane or if bouncing from side to side, will slow the ball down. I was originally going to put a small U shaped wireform in there but this looked better. There are 2 "settings" that can be configured in this left inlane by using a rubber or not.

1: No mini post rubber: very fast entry to the left inlane and fast delivery to left flipper
2: 3/8 OD mini post rubber (pictured in video): slowed down entry and delivery to left flipper

You could also be super brutal and take out the mini post completely. This would be a fast entry and would widen the crap out of the left outlane. Whatever the option, this little angled plate does serve a purpose. You can see in the video how it slows down the ball to deliver it to the flipper. I am torn whether or not I will remove the mini post rubber on my personal game.

Looks to me like it simply guarantees ball heading down the inlane vs coming of the scoop too hot and getting in the bumper. Plus it super cool how the ball shudders

Pretty sure I read from a prior post that the pin will have five balls. I wonder if it will pre-stage one (or more) balls in the secondary portal trough before or after a game, similar to how STTNG works?

Def B. I bet it acts like shadow maget and you can throw it back with the right timed tap. Not just stop and hold. FLOW BRO.

As it was explained, and the way I heard it, a ball stays in the subway for ‘instant’ eject from the portal scoop.

epthegeek: What's the chance of getting a time-of-day based family mode setting, for locations which are open to all ages during daytime, but only to adults in the evening?

Right. But if there's a multi-ball mode that uses all the balls (one would hope), there's a chance the game could end with no ball in the secondary trough.

Shouldn't be a problem. Bowen actually already has this on the wish list, but it is not implemented yet - mostly because I don't have a production game with the right CPU in it to incorporate and test setting the time & date in the service menu.

tldr; That's the intent, but maybe not right at launch.

The Anti-gravity Device (magnasave) works in a really cool old school way on this game. You charge the anti-gravity device using the captive ball (Flooble Crank Post). If you need to use the magnet to save a ball from the outlane, you can tap or hold the secondary button on the right side of the cabinet. The magnet will activate for as long as you hold it and as long as you have charge left. It is 100% time to charge based. You can conserve the charge by tapping, but if you get in a bad situation, you can press and hold and attempt to gain control and drop it down the inlane. This is my personal favorite way that magnasaves are implemented and I have not seen it done like this in a while. There is no exposed core, so pressing and holding is not a guarantee that you will save the ball. I usually just tap it away from the outlane and some of the time, it will flip back up and over the sling back into play.

Sorry for the lengthy responses.

Asked how many balls besides the captive ball : Five

I assume this means 1 in the portal and 4 in the trough.

It would be a 4 ball multi ball. When you load the game you drop one in the subway and 4 in the trough.

One enters the portal and one leaves the portal.
